@notthegoodgirl I had to stop the video about a subject I didn't think I was interested in to commend you for the immense amount of work and research this must have taken. I saw the time and thought there would be no way I would sit through this but the opposite is proving true I'm an hour and 20 minutes in. I'm sure you get a lot of compliments, as you should ,but it never hurts imo to show gratitude for someone else's work. You are quickly becoming high on my mental list of favourite CZcamsrs, for what it's worth. Best wishes to you and yours.
Be safe they are watching you
I have a connection to a prominent anti-$cientologist, and I’ve seen everything out there about it.
This was SO well done, and contained info I didn’t know! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!
Thank you, I really enjoyed that. I would love to see this so-called Church brought down for the harm they've done.
I have looked into corruption at phizer, unlawful deaths from their products and what i learned in the first 5minutes was so egregious, especially since Bill Gates has been involved, I would love someone to look into them properly.. thanks for your great vids, God bless you ❤
1:28:14 *Girl... You did an AMAZING JOB with this documentary - and I have seen everything online about Scientology!*
*It is so beyond cringe just knowing that these celebs are gullible enough to ACTUALLY believe they so self important!?!* LMAO!!!
*SO MUCH CRINGE!!!*
It's completely insane that Tom Cruise is out here acting in blockbuster movies and isn't generally considered a canceled or problematic celebrity, when his wife had to arrange an escape to a safehouse while he was overseas in order to divorce him
As a legal editor, I've seen a lot of people who should be cancelled or were attempted to be cancelled survive. It is a simple reason. Once you reach a specific threshold of fame or money, you can only fail up. You can only keep succeeding no matter what illegal things you do. You can actually pay off some sentencing for white collar crimes as well, like legally pay it off and never serve (little known fact to people outside that tax bracket.) Just like some of the multi billionaire CEOs who do unspeakable things, he'll just keep getting away with it because of his fame, money, and power.
And, sadly, (not in Tom's case but in some people's) you can just be born at that level of fame/money. The children of the top 1% do some crazy shit and never get nailed for it.
Canceling only affects the lives of ordinary people and maybe very small creators
It only has an effect ngl the individual in question is particularly susceptible to hate mobs/death threats
I genuinely think one day he’s going to get what’s coming to him. Even if it’s going to come out in his 80s, one day it will come out. There’s already too much info out there for him and the church to get off completely scot-free. Especially the fact that Shelly may be imprisoned or even more likely, unalived. I also get the feeling that there’s A LOT more to Tom’s involvement with the church. Tom has this look in his eyes that just always seemed off to me. He always felt disingenuous to me. I can’t even imagine what he’s hiding 😮💨
@@kiterafreyharvey weinstein was rich and powerfull, and so where jeffrey epstein and john mcafee.
The reason why tom cruise isn't cancelled yet, is probably because so many other rich and powerfull people in holywood are scientologists as well.
And those people who like to cancel everyone for using a wrong pronoun or tweeting that people who menstruate are women, are never going to cancel themselves aren't they?
Correction Tom cruise is not acting in blockbuster movies, the movies are becoming blockbusters because of his acting.
Frankly speaking there is nothing wrong with having a religion, every single religion has done some questionable ish, in the name of purity.
Tom appears to me, as an intelligent individual who respects and loves his art. Which stands to reason that it is more than likely, Tom has not experienced the church as the rest of the members have.
It appears to me, that Tom is more of an ambassador, so much so that, he thinks/believes the treatment he is receiving is similar to the treatment other members are receiving, but just not as high profile given his status .
And again he appears to be at the very top, emphasis on the word appears, however his position only allows him access to the type of servitude he can have.
Aside from being in control of his service executors (slavez from the church, I can't think of the word but you get the idea) , moving on..... he doesn't have the authority to know the inner workings of the church, because his only role in the church is to be an ambassador. Basically it's glitters masquerading as gold .
Ambassadors don't have power, their job is to attract traffic, by advertising that they are a part of this establishment. Therefore, the treatment an ambassador gets is very different from the treatment a consumer will get...
To put it simply Tom is just the advertisement aiming to bring more money (people) to the church.
At the end of the day who says no to free stuff. 😅
I just cannot wrap my mind around Elisabeth Moss staying in this cult, while simultaneously producing and acting her butt off on The Handmaid’s Tale. The cognitive dissonance must be off the charts.
Because she plays the victim on the show like she does in real life. She's the real villain.
Usually people who are extremely talented end up caught up in weird stuff, Liz Moss reminds me of a more modern more successful and talented version of the actress who was in Smallville and also got caught up in a Cult.
Unfortunately, cults like this “work” for some. It gives them community, reason to live, structure, etc…
@@jrlucido21if you're an actress from a young age you have a lot of insecurities which unscrupulous cult leaders can exploit.
Maybe she's psychologically working stuff out from being a member of this "church" and hasn't admitted to herself that she needs out yet.
the fact that this church is still allowed to exist despite it being so clearly documented that it's a cult, a scam, and basically a criminal org, is baffling to me. we really do not live in a just world.
Herbalife too, as long as the $$$$ are coming in
It's difficult to distinguish a cult from a religion - they exist on a spectrum. The more controlling a religion is the more culty it becomes. There's also a bias against new religions. It's easier to recognize a culty new age religion than an culty Christian organisation. As such I don't think that "cults" should be illegal. Criminal organisations - that's a completly different story
There're many Churches which should be considered criminal and persecuted. Any organisation which hides and protects s predators is evil. So many Churches do it but goverment is afraid of a backlash if they tried to do anything about that
LOL And Christianity is what??? And yet.... People can walk around like is nothing. Oh yeah... It's not fair in ANY way. Would you like it to be fair though??
Money speaks! Very loudly...
Agreed, but I feel that about ALL churches. I listen to all these beliefs and they will sound crazy to me. Believe what you want, but we need to take away this tax free, can't be touched status from all churches.
The no making noise during childbirth is something straight out of handmaid's tale
You need to hve your babies in hospitals. a lot can go wrong

@@ToledoOhio Huh?
Tbf they'd need a lot more personal info to be able to ruin anyone's life.
They're known to stalk ex members, or people who try to leave, but those of us who aren't known by any scientologists are pretty safe.
Where I live, there are 0 scientologists so I know id be sweet 😂
I mean, I don't know how they could fuck up their reputation much more than they already have. If they hadn't gotten so big, they might still be a threat as much as they've been in the past, but they leave trails everywhere now, and they're a go-to punching back for easy cult jokes in media of all levels.
This video is just a (very well put together) compilation of the information that's already online. Not sure what anyone in Scientology thinks they could get from causing trouble here, except to call more attention to their already exposed problems.
I love that when the reporter told David Miscavige that he loved his life and his job, so what could Scientology do for him? David Miscavige had no real answer because cults are usually successful only with hurt/distressed/needy/vulnerable people. I’m not saying anyone can’t be a victim, but predators go after the injured first. Love this documentary!
Ted Koppel is a legend. "I'm Ted Koppel, and this is Nightline".😂
Not fully true. Also narcissists who want power also join cults to get that feeling of superiority and being special. Especially with a cult like scientology that treats celebs like kings.

Daddy Holmes was not playing around when it came to getting his daughter free. Also ironic that she escaped almost the exact same way that Tom and his mother escaped from his father
yes ! toms dad was a crazy narc also that his mom saved her children from . How bizarre that he would accept a batshit crazy man like his dad to become close to.
Luckily for Katie Holmes her father was a good divorce lawyer.
@@lilaccilla Actually recreating childhood trauma with a familiar type of @buser is pretty normal behavior.

@@lorimiller4301 very true . The cycle will continue until someone breaks it .
It's weird how David basically treated Tom like some savior. It almost is like he's in love with him. He went way above and beyond just being a friend
But ultimately I hope Shelley or whatever is left of her is found so her family or Leah can get some closure about what happened.
Yes, I guess with cults there always has to a a likable 2nd in command. So it seems david was grooming him and figured having tom as a member would bring more clout.
I think They are hard core lovers ! Yes TOM & David !!
Well maybe Tom was basically some kind of savior to him, in the sense that without him, he was basically nothing.
Both are elitists. Maybe little man syndrome to boot.
I feel like I can listen to the story of Katie Holmes asking for divorce without anyone in the "church" being aware a million times. So incredible and impressive.
She literally gave Suri the best gift she could’ve ever given her; a life free of Scientology. 👏🏻
Her father is a divorce lawyer, she had experts on her side who helped her engineer the cleanest and safest escape possible.
@@c.w.8200 I know! Everybody on Katie and everybody on her side was impressive. I still don't understand how she was able to contact her dad and everybody who helped her without the "church" knowing what was going on.
@@kpoctopusI think read somewhere basically used pre paid cell phones.
@@nicole71047I read that too. It’s creepy to think you have to get a burner phone for privacy in a marriage, but smart.
My mom told me once about how back in the late 70’s before I was born she was struggling with confidence so she checked out Scientology to see if joining a religion might help her break out of her shell. Thankfully, she was poor and couldn’t get very far with that option.
Good thing she didn't join sea org
Who'd have thought that a lack of financial means would be something to be genuinely thankful for.
Ha, this is a church? Leaving people behind that are less fortunate.
=Cult
When my parents dropped me off at UT Austin for college they saw the Scientology center directly across the street and warned me never to go there. This was the early 90s. They had never warned me against any religion (or “religious” group) before so I took their advice. I had never been so wary of a place just because my parents said so, but learned over time they’re usually right. 😆
@ericarn I remember seeing an org when I was in college in the 80s. I thought about going in but never did. I probably would have been easy pickings for them. In college, shy, away from home, lonely. Thank God never went closer to the building than the street. Back then, we didn't know what scientology was. Eta. I went to a Catholic university, and this wasn't near the school. Friends and I took the bus to another part of the city (good thing they were with too)
The real story here is the amount of Non Disclosure Agreements that are signed by people in Tom's life and how everyone is terrified to speak out. I am so happy Nicole and Katie got out. I wish them all the happiness in the world.
not to discard any of these pieces of information, since they are quite literally mind-boggling and very eye-opening, but the way you have grasped the structure of the video plus how deep you went in this topic, must have taken up so much of your time and effort and it definitely deserves a whole lot of praise!
I thought the same thing! Total over-view of a Cult being started and what it goes through to keep up its charade as a church, not a criminal business. It’s a money laundering scheme.
Pray for not a good girl because they will come for her. 🙏
It almost deserves a level of cult-like admiration on the part of her viewers, doesn't it.
How is it legal to hold someone captive and then sue them because they signed an NDA to not talk about it?
Because; religion.
Money
It isn't seen as scientology "holding people against thier will", in the "church." Once a person gets indoctrinated they see the RPF as necessary to fix the problem (ruin) inside them.
I believe that the only legal aspect of the situation is the Non Disclosure Agreement itself. It is a legal document signed in exchange for thier freedom. What is illegal is the Fee they charge Sea Org members to leave to "pay back for the free lessons they received."
Also, the fact scientology has tax exempt status and is defined as a religion make it legally difficult to take action against them on a federal level.
What blows my mind is: Hubbard died an indicted Felon.
It’s not!
Legal editor here. You can sue for anything, but that doesn't mean the lawsuit will not get thrown out for being invalid. NDA's cannot legally protect a company/person from sharing information on acts that are federally illegal. That doesn't mean someone will not sue. Typically, they will sue hoping you'll cave because you can't afford representation. If that doesn't work they keep refiling or appealing until dismissed WITH prejudice. And, even in those cases, they often just sue for something new. It is called a slap suit. It is meant to drive someone's funds to zero so they'll give up and be forced into silence or compliance. Few states have laws that protect against slap suits. Companies use them often against people, even for things as simple as posting honest reviews on products. Working in class action, I see companies try to keep flying appeals until a judge refuses the allowance of appeals, as a way of doing slap appeals, which is the countersuit version.
Thank God people like Leah have the courage to come forward and TELL THE TRUTH. They are saving lives.
I seriously got tears in my eyes when we got to the part about Leah and Katie Holmes leaving. (I get major girl power tears.. lol). But seriously.. it took massive guts. And for Leah to turn it into such a wide reaching campaign is absolutely incredible.
GO LEAH! Expose Scientology for decades of coercive control, spying, stalking, acts of assault, threats, humiliation, & intimidation that is used to harm, punish, and frighten their own members and other victims. I hope this judge will deem David served. He can no longer hide from his sins! Where is Shelly??? Let's GO!
Yet she still won’t admit to Lron, travolta or Tom being 100% homosexual.. weird..🙄

Classic short man’s syndrome. But I do feel somewhat sorry for someone whose entire life has been dominated by their own insecurities. Just a shame he’s spread the hurt & pain to so many others.
Hubbard flunked out of college & was fired by Navy in just 90 days. "This officer is lacking the essential qualities of judgment, leadership and cooperation. He lacks the forethought of probable results." Best Quote EVER!! lol
And then people proceeded to still follow him smh
Read Chris Owen's excellent book - Ron - the War Hero. Hubbard covered himself with Stolen Valor.
yup. that's the best. love the weird b&w guru stage photos of folks getting his downloads ... creepy as hell the duncery
Well, there are documents and he did command a ship and did sink a Japanese submarine. It was even in the papers once they were declassified. The government kept quiet on a lot of things because the Japanese were attacking our west coast in several places and a family did get killed. Didn't flunk but did leave early for things he liked to do. And he did not get fired from the Navy. Sorry, it's all documented.
I read Jenna Miscavige's (david miscavige's niece) book about her escape and it was truly horrifying & very detailed on how kids grow up there working like adults and having no childhoods or autonomy. And much more. Excited to listen to this video. I cannot believe this cult is allowed to just operate freely and ruin lives
Brooklyn 99 makes fun of Scientology in their episode where Charles Boyle signs up for Nutri-Boom and no one has seen the creator's wife in years lol
The odds of Shelly still being alive do NOT sound very high, what with David’s violent rages and the fact that…the hole? exists? If she is alive I don’t think that poor woman is getting out of wherever they’ve locked her up
Located in Hemet....right in the middle of a desert....so easy to dig a hole and to bury someone...or something there. Forever out of sight so forgotten by most😢
Also they don’t seem very good at keeping people alive so even if it was their intention I doubt she would have made it so many years without fatal incident.
I remember back when a video like this could never be made because scientology would destroy the content creator every way possible. It wasn't all that long ago, maybe as recent as 10-15 yrs ago.
Shelly's mother shot herself 3 times in the chest and then the 4th shot to the head was fatal. This was done with a shot gun. David Miscaviage (Shelly's husband and current leader of Scientology) said 'good, the bitch deserved it'. Needs to be an investigation into that!!
I heard a few yrs back when it was first going hard about Shelly that someone...a lawyer...or group...or somebody...(drawing a blank) but they forced the pd to do a wellness check. and apparently at that time she was alive, and supposedly well. But the cops would not truly elaborate on anything. Maybe do a search and see what you come up with to see what I am referring to. But they probably forced her to say it, and she was at the time so brainwashed so who really knows.
Ive listened to Leah Remini talk about it and what shocked me the most is that members (anyone lower than Tom Cruise's status which is a lot of people), have to work for free for the church to like..pay their dues. Even if theyre famous with the worlds strictest schedule, they have to make up their hours of work in the church, no excuses, and they have to pay to do it.
Those rules apply for children too, which are seen as 'little adults' by the church and treated as such. The rules start early on, and no one (apart from the top top levels) are immune to mistreatment.
Apparently Tom Cruise is so deep into it that he acts like hes some sort of Royalty. Hes reached the level where he has pretty much total control. Youre not allowed to just go up and talk to him, even if youre his friend, if youre in Scientology and you rank lower than him. You have to address him as authority. Its so...bizzare.
I feel like hes purely in it to tickle his ever hungry ego. Hes rich, he put in his work, hes at the top, he gets power, adoration, everything. I can see how a man like him would be drawn to that and not wanna leave.
I also understand why a lot of the members are celebrities or high up people. Rich people will pay billions just to feel something, they are the only people stupid enough to pay to be a part of this mess created by a f*cking science fiction writer. 😭
Do you remember when she had some higher ranking people who left organization and they talked about how David would threaten to bring Tom in to beat people for him because he knew jujitsu? I don’t know what our societies obsession with Tom Cruise is, but we really need to look at him as an individual and come to the conclusion that he’s not that great, and that any film that he’s in probably has ties financially to Scientology. He doesn’t do any film without it being read by Scientology members, and he always surrounded by them. If we see his movies, you’re paying Scientology.
I agree with you...esp about Tom's over-inflated irrational ego. He's got Napoleon Syndrome and this cult has made him mistakenly think thay he is a somebody.
It's truly been frustrating to me how no one seems to question or condemn Tom Cruise. People mention and talk about what messed up shit actors do off screen all the time, but not precious Tommy for some reason. The fact that he's BFFs with such a vile man is indictment enough. People have condemned lots of celebs for WAY less.
I haven't wanted to watch a single one of his films, because I associate him too much with this bullshit.
@@donnamyers7274 I see that. I always say he's got small dog syndrome 😭🤣
@@jmcb00 it's crazy how much people can get away with when they have money and status, Tom is literally untouchable and you're right it's so wrong.

Where is Shelly? 17 years is a long time to not see someone! Insane!

EDIT: After watching thoughts - this is pretty accurate and easy to follow for a wide audience! Only gripe here is use of the word "reprogramming" as a Scientology term - it isn't. Reprogramming is an accurate description of what was done to Leah, but it's not a word used by the church - they would call it a "Review Program" or "Ethics Program".

I choked at that line about Scientology creating a society without criminals (25:49). Like, pay no mind to all of the people committing all of these crimes behind the curtains. Or Danny Masterson.
Amazing work on this!
The level of delusion in that cult is strong, isn't it?
The level of abuse to children and adults in the Sea Org is insane. They get ripped away from their parents, have no time for friends or to build relationships, work 20 hour days, have no time to go off the grounds, get paid $30 a week, then pile verbal and physical abuse on top of all that because they signed a billion year contract to an organization that is built on lies for financial gain. It’s child labour and it’s criminal.
Their logic is that the means justifies the end. We'll do some crime but we'll save humanity. It sounds ridiculous but that's legit how they think.
Society without criminals is just society without males
Not all of their crimes happen behind the curtains, though! Lots of harassment of private individuals in public, lots of nasty letters and phone calls, internet - stuff that's not hard to prove at all, in terms of criminal harassment charges! -Anybody else would be behind bars faster than you can say fraud and extortion! How much and how many law enforcement officials and politicians, local and national, are they paying off every year, I wonder?? Are they ever audited?? With the increase in security over the past 20 years, you'd think the IRS would have been able to take another go at Scientology, and dump its exemption status!
In 1996, the Scientologists destroyed the Cult Awareness Network by lawsuiting them into bankruptcy.

And to put that into perspective, just imagine how much more madness is still going on right now (and not just in this particular field) which you have no idea about, and then tell me if you can believe it!
I read Paulette Cooper’s book online after the South Park Scientology episode. When they described the beliefs, I immediately searched online because I wasn’t sure if they were joking or those were the actual beliefs, and fell down a rabbit hole. She’s an incredibly courageous woman.

So weird they do these things. These articles are written talked about and gone most of the time. The article would have just faded as time passed unless someone executed a decade-long conspiracy to destroy the journalists' life, the article would have become old news, and the world would have moved on. They do things like this a lot. They do something over the top in response to a small amount of disent or some negative press and do something so over the top crazy that its talked about decades later. Why? I am in AWE! This is the most comprehensive video on Scientology ever!!!! Thank you and CONGRATULATIONS!!!! But also, please stay safe! Scientology "loves" it when people dig into their dirty business.
Mad respect for Katie. Holy cow. 😮
Putting the atrocities aside for a minute, Scientology is a fascinating study in human gullibility/willingness to believe despite all evidence to the contrary. Even getting one person to believe Hubbard’s stories is a wild feat.
Yes, the competition and fear of not belonging is outstanding.
Agree 💯💯💯
The key is in how they find your 'ruin'. Everyone has a vulnerability, they just know how to exploit it and have plenty of blackmail to reinforce it.
People wanted to believe because they wanted to be part of it, wanted to be special and one of the ''saviors of humanity''. When people ask ''why do mentally healthy people join cults?'' the answer is: narcissism.
@@phishcatt It's not narcissism, it's the opposite. People so desperate to feel special and powerful that they can be manipulated by anyone who deems them 'special enough' to 'know the truth.' Or people who have been recently traumatized and are looking for someone to trust only to unwittingly find the worst possible people.
Shout-out to all the social media streamers protesting outside of Scientology's Hollwood 'Body-routing' Center: Constantly tell your viewership about this video and how to find it. Say into your cameras something like:
"Hey peeps, when you sit down tonight to watch a Tom Cruise movie on your favorite streaming service, instead go on CZcams and watch a video by _NOT THE GOOD GIRL_ entitled ‘The Actor, The Cult, & The Women Left In Their Wake’"
While you're directing your viewers to this video, REMIND THEM that this self-professed 'church', is TAX EXEMPT, and if you find this offensive, contact local reps, congress critters, senators, and the IRS to express your feelings on the matter.
Tax payers everywhere will thank you…
And call about the Catholic churches, all protestant churches & any 501c3 tax free religion and or charity.
None of them should be tax free. All of them are scamming the people, All of them.
Better yet, send the vids to Congress, senators and representatives, especially those on committees dealing with revenue collection and crime!
Any traumatic event in your life scientology will say " its your fault you must've done bad things in another lifetime ... the only way to fix it is to go thru our courses" . These courses many times would take all your money even bankruptcy
Tom is embarrassing
Thank you for this documentary. It's disgusting how the Church of Scientology lies. It really needs to be shut down.
Agreed. Surely cults can be shut down by authorities!
Absolutely!
@@DysfunctionNoMore I doubt it. For they *are* the authorities. And don't call me Shirley.
"Because God forbid you have to write with a Bic." 😂😂😂 Love the long documentary! Thanks for putting so much work into it!
The way I giggled at that statement 😂😂
Excellent coverage of an enormous topic. One could spend hours and hours unraveling the twists and turns. This was a great job in just over 2 hours!
This was an excellent video! I hope you don't get harassed by anyone with Scientology. They tend to go after anyone who says anything negative.
I hope they don't go after me for saying I don't like my stepmom.
Tom cruise saluting david miscaviage the keebler elf is hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm assuming the reason Tom Cruise is so buddy buddy with the little rat in charge is power for one. But i bet toms self confidence is through the roof, since at 5'7 he's way taller than miscavige lol. No I'm not scared of these nuts seeing my comment, 🖐️🖐️🖐️
they also have mirrored mannerisms. kinda freaky~~
I just wonder who is the top and who is the bottom? I think David is probably the top and Tom is the bottom.

Ooh I cringed at that...I really cringed...
It's crazy how much the girl who was supposed to marry Tom before he married Katie, looked like Katie after her makeover. She really dodged a bullet!
she looked a lotttt like penelope cruz to me

I'm so happy that Laura Prepon is no longer involved with Scientology. She's an actress I admire and I was worried about her participation on the cult.
Girl, you are out here doing the work... Way to go shiming the light on all these cults!!
i feel so sorry for mimi... imagine not having a say on her own relationship bc this manchild she brought in lost interest on her... it's good to know she's doing great nowadays
I didn't know she was in that cult since she was a child wow one of my favorite actresses and crushes since the late 70s is in a demonic cult.
A real church would not come between a marriage, in fact they try to encourage people to stay together. I think Tom had a crush on Mimi when he was just starting in acting, she introduced him unfortunately to Scientology. Once Tom made it as a big star, then Scientology gave Tom whatever he wanted without many rules. It is hypocritical. If Tom wanted Nicole, he got her, except he cannot keep a woman, he is too flaky. They treat him with kid gloves while the rest of the cult are being extorted for money. It is about exploiting people in return for nothing. Some story about an outer space guy and fake psycho babble.
@jmallett6081 Right. And if $cientology works so well why has Tom Cruise been married/divorced three times 😂
@@tamara6212 lol, I know, right?
The only thing I recall Mimi saying was that it was difficult for her when she started being referred to as Tom Cruise's wife. He has an uncommon star power which is a result of his hard work. Anyone married to him might feel like they are in his shadow--except Nicole. She did great and is still doing great. Not so much Holmes.
Never liked Cruise. Didn't like him the 80s when he started acting, didn't like him all through his career, don't like him now. He creeps me out in indefinable ways, like that feeling you get when you look in the eyes of some guy on the elevator and decide to take the next one, instead. Christian Bale based his character Patrick Bateman on him in the movie _American Psycho._ That says it all.
omg yes!!!! ever since i remember since my teenage years, i had this disgust on this visceral level. I feel validated after watching this documentary. I also have same feeling. towards beyonce and taylor swift. I have no idea when and why this feelings occurred
I don't know if it was based on Cruise as a whole but Christian Bale said that he got the Patrick Bateman laugh from Cruise when he saw him on David Letterman(?) and he just had this maniacal laugh with a sinister and lifeless look in his eyes
Lol
You are just jealous on Tom.
i always get a little of the energy of his father coming through. sometimes, the human, especially when manipulated and abused, become the thing they hate.
....can't stand him either....I'll never go to see one of his stupid movies....they are all dumb action movies anyhow...not too much of a plot....sort of like Tom's life itself...vacuous.
Fantastic deep dive - when I saw the topic, I knew I was in for a treat, and girl, did you deliver! Thank you for the many hours you put into making this. Absolutely brilliant!

I love watching Growing up in Scientology's channel. Aaron, it's owner, says the church is rapidly losing money and power.

What happened with the police the other day was insane. I hope who sues the LAPD and wins.
I love Arron’s channel

Me too. Aaron is really clever !!!
The most comprehensive and clear expose of this cult I’ve ever seen - and I think I’ve seen them all.
I think this exposé has attained the ultimate +he+@n level : Clear.
Cults, including Scientology, are one of my special interests. I appreciate all your time and effort in making this long doc. Even though I have seen endless hours of content covering Scientology, this was really engaging from start to finish. Thank you for speaking out about them and the abuse they perpetuate. What really gets to me about them is the lack of humanity, the lack of empathy and compassion. In "going clear" you have to lose your willingness and ability to empathize with other people, and I think that's really sad. One of the best things about humanity is our ability to empathize and show kindness- it is a strength, not a weakness. It makes our relationships, our spirit, our society better.
Be careful! I have heard of other youtubers trying to talk about scientology who have been harassed and threatened. I'm so glad you're shining a light on them but stay safe!
But same thing old religion and culture what about it lol first search your past 2000y LoL
I remember seeing Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise on the covers of gossip magazines as a kid, blissfully unaware of the clusterfuck happening behind closed doors.
Right? They were truly THE couple for a while. Not that I'm entitled to Katie's story, but I sure would love to hear more of it just the same. Better for her to stay safe though, of course. I hope she's happy now.
@@the_catsmeowThey were such a cute couple.
I feel so sorry for Katie and did back then..Plus Katie can actually act..But we are not allowed to see her talent much..Sure Katie’s career would have been much bigger than it is,if she never would have tangled with Cruise.I hope there is a role out there that will launch Katie back up..But Hollywood treats its female stars bad after the actress hits 30.!.
It was obvious how crazy he was back then and how scary Scientology was back then. No excuse, Katie was so dumb to get involved with any of that.
Maybe you were just young and didn't know much about Scientology. For us older folks, it was very clear that Holmes checked several boxes for Cruise/Scientology and it was a very orchestrated relationship.
I've been looking to a few of your documentaries and I really liked them. I love the way you try to be the most honest possible and how you lay out your sources and thus give everybody the ability to see for themselves. I hope you'll continue sharing your "discoveries" with us and wish you all the best. Take care
Just, what the hell? Tf is wrong with the American government
So much.
Just over 10 minutes in, and already feels like a much better documentary on the cult than many I've seen. I like how you brought up Tom Cruise's childhood and what lead him to scientology. I feel like that's an important part of getting people informed of the whole process of cults and their members, that's often overlooked(idk how to explain it better, but I hope that makes sense.)
Anyway, I'm quickly gonna continue watching.
Just wanted to say I always look forward to watching your work❤
If you want a good book check out Lawremce Wright's Going Clear.

"[Scientology guru L. Ron Hubbard] became known for bashing the medical industry and anyone who dared questioning his methods" the voice says while a photo emerges, depicting him aiming to 'weigh' the thoughts of a tomato with his emeter thingy.

@@r.k.m9801 wrong thread? No "Asia" in this topic. I commented on a photo of Hubbard who was 'measuring' 'the thoughts' of a tomato.
Harlan Ellison once said that he hoped L. Ron intended to con people with Scientology, because it pained him to think his friend actually believed that BS.
As usual, a very well-thought-out and researched doc. It baffles me why you don't have more viewers or subscribers and hope you'll get the recognition you deserve

Wow, David must be super short. Tom Cruz is only like 5'5" and he was towering over him 😂😂
Tom wears shoe lifts sometimes. This has been known for decades. Tom is 5'7" but around 5'10" with good lifts. David is 5'5.5
I think he is about 5 foot tall but wears shoes with height heels in them. David has short man syndrome
I had a good laugh at him playing Reacher. In the books he's 6 foot 5 and built like a brick shithouse, not a munchkin (SP) in high heels.
@@Bob-Jenkins I felt the same way. I love those books so when I heard Cruz was cast, I was very disappointed. When I saw the movie, I was mad the whole way through. lol. I didn't think he embodied any of Reacher's style, power or skill.

@@Reading_the_comments There's a Reacher "series" and that Reacher is exactly what I imagined from the books. He's almost as wide as he is tall, and at 6 feet 5in that's saying something. Like he was born to play the role.

I've watched so many CZcams videos on Scientology, and this is by far the best one. Very informative and very well written. Amazing job!
Nicole said something very revealing at the time of her divorce "I was sacked" ('sacked' is Australian for ''fired')
They use it in the US too. Just not as common anymore I think
The expression describing the employee getting the sack (dismissed from a position) has been in use in France since the 17th century.
Actually, the term "sacked" goes waaaayyy back to ancient Roman stone cutters (who carried their work tools in a sack). When they were given the sack, it meant "we no longer have work for you."
@@WillSing4TP That may be true, but the way the original comment was structured made it relevant to mention the usage of that term, within the context of contemporary colloquial parlance. I doubt it was meant to attribute the origins of that expression to Australian innovative genius.
Thay was so professionally researched and put together. Thanks for the wonderful content
@metris5135 Thank you so much, that's very kind of you! We appreciate the support. 🙂 Happy New Year! 🎊
damn... The more I learn about Tom Cruise's relationship with Scientology, the more I feel like he was manipulated and abused for decades by the Church. Not abused in the sense that he was treated badly, but his life is controlled so tightly by the people in charge that he really has no idea what reality actually is beyond what they feed him. I used to joke that Tom Cruise, as his career progresses, seemed to get more and more into his own head and how wonderful and awesome he was. But it's no wonder he would be like that when he hasn't actually experienced the reality since he was probably in his 20s. Not that he isn't problematic in his behaviour or responsible for the way he's treated most of the women in his life, but damn... I can't imagine what it must be like to be thoroughly controlled like that.
My thoughts exactly

@@notthegoodgirl happy new year to you and your family too!
What a desaster of a life. He became exactly what he hated in his father. LRH was a psychopath.
Sadly Alot of times sons who hate their fathers do that
L. Ron Hubbard, saying that only the higher-ups in Scientology could understand his knowledge from outer space, any one else would be struck dead by the knowledge, sounds a lot like a twelve year old frightening a six year old.
I first learned about Scientology in 1984, when I spent a summer in the LA area & was flabbergasted that people bought into it. Now I'm 58 y/o, and it is so evident to me, with all the insanity happening in the US, it is so important to teach your children COMMON SENSE & to use reason, not emotion, to navigate life, or you're a sitting duck for the hungry predators that creep around us all.
the older I get the more i see that religions in general arent actually "sacred" and dont care about "goodness" but only use supposed sacredness and goodness as a shield and tool in order to get away with causing mass damage and trauma
I was always surprised they used Tom Cruise so extensively. His open interviews did not do him or scientology any favors. He learned to keep to a script lol.
Right! He's the main reason people know about scientology, and it's known for being wacky
How can one man's delulu make so many people follow him and sign a billion years away!
Because the world thrives of fantasy stories. Stories is what gives people meaning in life. It’s like an escape to reality.
Yeah that part about a billion year contract! What could possibly go wrong with that?!😮
Well how many people were talked into taking toxic jabs? 89% of the worlds population!
@@user-gz9sy8rh6f fearmongering by the media played a big part.
@@Provocateur193 The only thing that could technically go wrong is that a billion years from now, there will probably be no one around to validate any of it. Thus rendering it completely void.
This MUST end.
South Park’s episode “Trapped In The Closet” and Anonymous’s Project Chanology did a lot to bring the atrocities of the cult to light in pop culture.
Well done except I think the one question remaining is why this cult still has tax exempt status.
Exactly, because it's Not a church.
For some reason, this cult has coercive control over the IRS. The corruption is deeeeeep, dark & dirty
A few years back I watched a program on CZcams explaining how that happened. Basically, scientology sent their people into the IRS (as employees) and worked it from there.
The better question is why churches still have tax exemption at all.
@@LittleMissLounge Totally agree.

Excellent documentary Josie. You’re doing an incredible work. Thank you for your great effort and diligence!
What a masterpiece! I've been following the Scientology world since Going Clear the book came out, and you have done such a good job of collating a TON of information without muddling the story - which frequently happens. It's obvious you did a TON of research and worked really hard on this. Brava, Josie, this is your best video yet. 🎉
Honestly what really kills me is that the very bare bones basic idea behind Dianetics - that something from your past is making you act or feel this way - is not necessarily wrong, but then everything ends they do after that pretty much is wrong. It makes sense that maybe some people would experience some relief by exploring and working through their past traumas, and that's probably how they first get pulled in. Then, from there, it all just gets more and more wild.
Imagine if they had gone to therapy instead 😩
And more & more expen$ive (& restrictive / culty)!
That's how cults operate. They start by telling you truthful information. You experience good results, so now you're more willing to listen to anything else they tell you - no matter how outrageous. You get sucked in cos you're not allowed to question anything. Just believe.
Right? Like if therapy was less stigmatized, more widespread and accessible, a lot of people would be safer, healthier and happier. Less likely to get wrapped up into stuff like this. Because you're right, dianetics does offer people the practice of self reflection and to look at their own thoughts and feelings- there is a nugget of truth in that that is important for growth as a person. But the way they weaponize that and use it to keep the followers complicit and as blackmail later on is really sad. All those people drawn in by the desire for understanding and growth really would have benefited from some therapy. We are all looking for something. Thankfully therapy in this generation is a lot less stigmatized than it was when I was growing up, and a ton different than my parent's generation.
Great documentary!
So this cult was invented by a cruel narcissist, is now lead by another cruel narcissist and enables abusers by degrading victims and blaming them for what happened. Great, that seem to be really nice people!
So happy for Leah that she managed to find her way out and her family stood with her! She is a really though and strong person.
I appreciate all the work, research, time, and effort you put in putting this video together ❤ also I'm proud of Leah for not giving up on her friend Shelley.
Can I just say THANK YOU?!!
Thank you for refusing to cave to the “short CZcams video” trend.
I hate that because of society’s collective poor attention span, thanks to TikTok and CZcams Shorts, quality long-form content is becoming harder and harder to find.
I understand why so many creators eventually have to “cave” to the algorithm demands, but I don’t like it!
Fully agreed. Re the short attention span, I recently responded to someone elsewhere on CZcams who posted a false statement. I wrote a very short 'paragraph' of four sentences, containing the verifiably correct information. His reply was "I'm not reading all that", and then another joined in, asking me if I really thought a "paragraph" was a good retort, adding "welcome to the internet old man". The message was clear: Reading four (complete) sentences is way too much of a chore for today's young guns. What are the odds of those people ever reading a book! Nope, if something cannot be condensed into five words or an 8-second video clip, they're just not going to make the effort.
There are some great long form creators out there at least in True Crime.

I am just 6 mins in and already SO happy you made this. I have never once heard the context of Tom Cruise's childhood before in a scientology documentary - and for good reason since they focus on exposing the church and revolve around ex-members' accounts.
But yeah. Already his involvement is making WAY more sense to me in this doc than it ever has. It always seems to go like... "and then Tom Cruise joined" but I think it's so so important when educating and discussing cults and deprogramming that we understand the kinds of people that are sucked into these things.

I understand the acting business is very precarious and anxiety-ridden job. 90% of actors are jobless at any given time. I can see how Tom felt safe within an organization that helped his career and saw how artistic people got opportunities within celeb center. He is in too deep.
Thank you for this video. It's amazing and made me more aware of this horrific cult.
My stepsister was lured into it by her mother many years ago, and even though I didn't know anything I saw and felt her suffering. She managed to leave, but still has a serious eating disorder because food became her way to cope with the traumas she endured.
