    Hi, all! Two questions:
    1. Do you prefer documentary styles where the creator is on camera telling some of the story, or letting the story be told through images and video only?
    2. How's the audio? I've been working hard to make it better and not so shrill. 🤪
Thank you in advance to anyone who gives feedback! I really appreciate it. ♥️

I love your videos and I like whichever format feels like the right one for you to make. Using clips and images and then coming on for commentary is something I see any people do, depending on how they feel about being in front of the camera. I like that format, but I always find your videos engaging whichever you do.

Exactly Rachel isn't realistic other mom's can not relate to Rachel . It was all easy for her having a rich husband. Having her whole 8 hours of sleep at night while the nanny takes care of the kids. Normally us mom's we are so busy raising taking care of our kids cleaning our homes,Get laundry done , cooking oh and the sleepless nights especially when having a new born baby. Rachel had housekeeper and the nanny's did all the momma's work. No way Rachel can get away and claim she did it all on her own.

This. I get annoyed at all or nothing on either side of this argument. Hard work and pushing yourself IS part of life-tribal cultures today evidence this, and history does too. You do need to go out and perform. AND, we ALSO live in a severely maligned culture, very different from the community-based one our ancestors lived in. They went into the red tent and rested for a week.
Community held new moms by caring for babies.
I always veered away from this woman because the title of her book felt hyper critical (not to mention, Im a woman, not a girl).
As someone in recovery for 20 years, I see someone afflicted by the disease of addiction. I think it’s helpful to engender compassion for Hollis as well. We can hold limits, and accountability with this in mind too.
      Be well.

    Just a thing about mlms:
My mom was dragged into one when she had no job. Her upper made her buy all this stuff to sell on, but we live in the country. No one bought from her and the stuff sat, meanwhile her upper would go on vacation, show off what she bought because of the company all while telling my mom, who was trying her damnedest to sell what she had, that she wasn’t “trying hard enough” and that “a positive attitude is all you need”. It still sits in her study

I am an ICU nurse of 30 yrs. Despite being a single mum and having had a work accident and been diagnosed with life threatening pancreatitis and Addison’s disease & requiring years of hospitalisation and multiple life threatening surgeries, I continued to push myself and worked so hard I nearly killed my self all because I was being told and ended up believing was I just wasn’t trying harder enough. I am now palliative & mostly bed ridden and most of my days I am only capable of breathing, smiling and laughing with my magnificent 19yo daughter. My family and friends pretty much all said I needed to stop feeling sorry for myself and get back to work.
These unrealistic expectations do gooders like Rachel mouth off about can be dangerous. Listen to your body, mind and soul and take other’s advice with a grain of salt. Everyone is different. She is trying to make money by making others feel bad about themselves. Just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own. “She’s the woman who cleans my toilets”
… the last woman who “cleaned my toilets” owns her cleaning company, employs several people, & makes more money than I do. She also has a heart of gold and LOVES what she does.
A few years ago we had to move my grandpa out of his home that he’d lived in for 50 years- it needed a deep clean to say the very least and that’s when we found her.
I swear, when she was done with the place we thought the walls had been painted and new flooring installed, it was that clean - the woman has a GIFT - along with many people who make cleaning their career. She saw it as a way to help people, to make their lives easier, while doing something she’s good at & getting paid for it.
I’m not trying to imply that every housekeeper/house cleaner owns their business or loves their job, but they are never just “someone who cleans toilets”

It was Instagrammably immaculate. The carpets were like cashmere. Even the light looked crisp and fresh. Her place is the same, she genuinely finds it meditative.
I was a cleaner on and off for ages and I enjoyed it: I don't have the ultra-cleaning gift but I found it satisfying to get things neat & organized, liked being active and being able to go off in a daydream while I worked & if we had a living wage, maybe I would be doing it still.

Life is hell and sometimes all you can do is sit on the couch and eat ice-cream. Not every moment of your life has to be constant accomplishments and go-go-go. If I've learned anything through my experiences this past year is sometimes, recovery, pushing through, achieving the end goal, takes time, and rest. Sometimes slow and steady wins the race, and there's no shame in that.

Lack of finances leads to depression because it’s super competitive out here and it’s hard to find a job if one does not have a hundreds of years of experience. And even if one finds a somewhat of a good paying job, millions are still living paycheck to paycheck. And even with that, many are suffering from non curable diseases and have to make sure they don’t get fired just because they have to go through all these scans, and bloodwork. She has no idea how hard it is out here. She doesn’t have to worry about that at all. These things leads to depression, so just even to take time to breath in the midst of the struggle is a huge deal and a accomplishment for many of us who are going through hardships. I’m not knocking her for marrying a millionaire. It's not just mom, dad, children. If I were to have kids, most of their day to day care would not fall on me. My mom, my MIL, my sister, my cousins, the whole village, everyone would help here and there. I would be busy with the children, yes, but not to the level I see that American women go through. I see that most American women are basically doing it alone, with a partner that helps somewhat, and that surprised me a lot when I came here. Women cleaning, cooking, changing diapers only days after giving birth and sometimes returning to work six weeks after. Blows my mind. When you're doing it alone or with little help, your 24h looks way different than mine.

I don't believe in luck. It's just an excuse to explain away our failures. Just like these "gurus" use high vibes/blessings/God's favor to explain their success. Because simple "good luck" isn't marketable and scalable.
Sometimes things don't work out, period. No explanation needed. We learn lessons in life, and when you build your castle on a foundation of sand, it will collapse. I.e. when you're lying to yourself to chase something you may not even be truly passionate about, you'll burn yourself out, and things won't work out. Has nothing to do with something as arbitrary and random as luck. True passion can fuel a person to overcome any obstacle. False positivity on the other hand cannot; it leads to burnout, failure, and to add insult to injury, guilt and shame for thinking "it's all your fault" and "you just don't have what it takes".

The next step may be getting through the next few minutes in a serious crisis. A more ambitious goal may be more appropriate for someone else who has different circumstances so that they don't stagnate where *they're* at. It's individualized IMO.

Yup, I agree... Which is why I mentioned him several times, let him show his ass with the polyamory comment, and ended the video making sure to criticize Rachel *and* Dave. Although men definitely get criticized far less (which is bullshit), I think in this situation, Dave comes across as more polished than Rachel (he also has a lot less fans than she does, so he's offending less people on a broader scale). Although I believe his polished online personality to be a facade, Dave is smart and knows not to publicly talk shit on his cleaning lady, diss the industries that brought him success (how Rachel did with MLM), and plagiarize famous authors multiple times. You don't get to be a Disney executive if you can't protect your public image, and I think that's where he and Rachel differ.

I'm so glad you do this videos! I myself have a very successful bookkeeping business I took years to grow and throughout my 20s and even 2 brief times in my 30s I fell prey to MLM companies because they sold me on their products and companies. Thankfully the last one I joined in 2022 I was only "sucked in" for about 2 months and then quickly scaled back to only keeping the discount on the products because I do use and love it. But I'm glad you do these videos on these spiritual cults because I had a run in with one of those as well because I've always wanted to be a motivational speaker and a self help author. I actually even wrote the book but have never published it. I fell into this web that was a mentor for life coaches to go from $50 sessions to $15,000 courses and boy did she do a great job at convincing me. I even paid $10,000 for her course and after TONS of hours over 3 months with almost nothing tangible to show from it, I walked away. And I realized in some of your other videos that it was 100% a cult environment. Your videos about these spiritual leaders who turn out to be nightmares and villains sent chills down my spine and it really made me question if I want ANYTHING to do with that arena. I have a wonderful business I'm great at, I love it, my clients love me. Rachel Hollis, I remember the buzz around her. I read the first book and I felt envious of her success as I wanted the same thing but I was so put off by her book, it was very poorly written and I couldn't imagine how she had gotten so famous over it. Now I'm gonna watch your video, curious to see how or why she isn't popular anymore because I assumed she'd just be trucking along making a killin still.

I wasn't given the book or anything, because honestly that's the only way it would come into my possession, but it has such a stupid name that I had to just look up what all the fuss was about. And the first thing I do is always go to Goodreads to figure that stuff out, and people were sounding off. When I read about that horribly toxic relationship that she committed to for life, I was flabbergasted. And not only that, but she just speaks through so much white middle-class to upper-class privilege and never had to do anything complicated in her life. The bottom line was, I was really excited to see this thumbnail in my feed because I really just want to see how it all collapsed after I left the States. This little Goodreads rabbit-hole happened about five years ago and I've been out of the States almost that long so I just forgot about her 😂

As someone who has worked in production, it seems more professional, especially when your docs are so well done and researched.
