    When I saw your previous video on this, I was actually really looking forward to seeing the followup on it. And I'm not disappointed! I'm glad you got it working, AND a partial refund!
    Its a shame ya can't just shove the cooler from the Gaming X trio 2070 Super on it. Although it might not have the same girth as the 2080ti version (therefor not cooling as well) or the mounting holes don't line up. Still, would be cool to see if it was possible. Like a DIY 2080ti Gaming X trio.
    That being said, I'd like to see how the accelero handles it. After all, it seems only right that you treat that 2080Ti like a gentleman and give it the best cooling you can give it. Especially since it was such a good deal, kinda makes it even more special than an expensive 2080Ti, because there's great price performance AND a cool story behind it!
    I almost had a similar deal when i RMA'd my 2070 and got a 2080Ti Gaming X trio as a swap. I was over the MOON about it! But ultimately, that 2080Ti failed 3 more times and I eventually just got my money back on the 2070. Now... I just have a used 1080Ti (GIGABYTE basic 3 fan model, no backplate). I mean, I got it for £400, when all the others I could get were £500+. And I even painted the shroud white to match my build which worked out perfectly, so at least I got a story out of mine. It was just sad to see that beautiful 2080Ti leave. Since I had never had the highest end of any GPU before.

      @@deminybs Through an AIO On it so its easy to move around, or grab some Quick Disconnects and throw it on it, still a pain because it means you have to potentially move around a Pump too, but at least makes it easy to tear down, if you take off the AIO off a EVGA Hybrid card, then you can use the plate they use to distribute the Cooling to the Memory, then you can use that and any AIO, that way your just pulling out the Card and an AIO Rad. It would make your card one of the best performers in terms of CZcams Content test benches. Much Luck, glad you kept it AND got some of your money back. I would love to see some high framerate/increased quality older PC games, maybe even some of the high res texture mods that have been done for some of those titles that usually cripple performance to a certain extent (like the various mods for Crysis, Skyrim etc.). In fact, I believe there is a ray tracing filter/mod that you can apply to Crysis (Digital Foundry did a video on it as I recall) that would make a great test for this RTX powerhouse. I'd also like to see how old standards like Quake III Arena and UT3 run at high resolutions (perhaps with mods as well) on that hardware and even out of the box performance to see if you can break 1,000FPS in Quake III (doubt it, but you never know).

    Yea, i thought it would be thermal paste application too, Since thermal paste on the backplate will not cool anything on this case - Because - The parts he pointed at 4:14 actually doesn't have transistors - they're tiny ceramic capacitors that only handle small amount of voltage/signal stabilization ( thus, can't generate much heat to begin with unless something goes horribly wrong ) On 6:15 with zoomed picture you can see they have only 2 terminals and has yellow color. ( Transistors usually have at least 3 terminals (Gate/Source/Drain for MOSFETs) , or more if they're multi channel )

    If you look back @5:17, too much thermal paste was used. None of the paste should be off of the die. Too much paste inhibits thermal transfer. You accidentally fixed it by cleaning up and doing it right. Some thermal compounds do better than others as well.

    I got a 2280-KR EVGA blower style 2080Ti for $700 USD.. Got it from a dude locally off of Facebook, as he was getting evicted and just lost his job and needed the money fast so was selling it cheap. Card runs at 2100mhz and 8k on the memory no problem, and with all the fans maxed out in my case I don't see above 75c. I'm happy! Oh and did I mention I sold my MSI 1080ti Hybrid Seahawk for $500 on Ebay after buying it, also bought that GPU about a year ago for $519.99😝🤘🏻

    • @MythicMoto
      @MythicMoto Před 4 lety

      Also I have a custom fan curve on Precision X1, that just puts the fan higher and higher until 70c and it maxes the fan at 100%. And yeah Played Destiny 2 and WoW classic full ultra, 1440p 165hz for hours, and never saw above 75c on HWmonitor. I'm thinking I'll still end up doing a Kraken G12 mount, just for better overall stability and thermals, but for the price I'm not complaining. Just wish I could get a EVGA hybrid kit (400-HY-1384-B1) but alas they are totally gone, so third party solutions are the only way at this point, short of replacing the card for something else entirely.

    thats a hell of a steal. once your on the flagship the only way to go is watercooling. so if you can grab that for such a low price and watercool it thats the deal of the year. you couldnt see the green pcb with a waterblock and backplate anyway, especially if you perm marker the edge so its all black.

  • @rushnerd
    @rushnerd Před 4 lety +1

    More people should take note of this, getting the cheapest 2080Ti you can find (if it's reasonable) even a crap one like this is still better than the fanciest water cooled 2080S or anything else. You made it happen!

    I’m over here ripping apart my PNY GTX 2080ti Blower and smiling as I’m wiping down the outrageous amount of thermal paste and dust particles that got in between the contact, just hoping I can be as happy as you when I plug it in. Hoping it works

  • @registeredblindgamer4350

    You know what sucks? I was looking up GPU's in my area(Craigslist) and found an MSI 2080Ti Seahawk edition, as well as an EVGA Hybrid 2080Ti FTW3 both for around $600.

  • @rangersmith4652
    @rangersmith4652 Před 4 lety +1

    Good for you! Mounting pressure was probably the key since it was die temp that was causing the throttling and crash before. Or it could have been bad thermal paste. Why would you even think about selling it now? BTW, it's better to use non-conductive, sqashable washers, just in case, you know. I'd use nylon.

    Timmy! Don’t sell it dude! This card is your WIN!!
    It should make a great tool for making many new videos with it and keep increasing your views!
    Use the Accelero Cooler, use a water block, heck, it should not be hard to find another company’s cooler that fits a FE PCB! Your video ideas 💡 already sound interesting and I’m hoping we get to see those soon too!
    Congrats again on the WIN and good luck with the new endeavors
