  • In this episode, we explore the topic of airline and road trip travel with Ana and her sun conure Papuż. We chat about the essential aspects of international and domestic bird travel. We talk about Ana’s specific experience from Europe to North America with the requirements, paperwork, quarantine regulations, airlines, choosing the right travel carriers, and more! Buckle up for an informative podcast as we discuss the importance of diligent research and direct communication with the relevant authorities. Remember, the adventure of global bird travel is as diverse as the bird species themselves - each country has its own requirements so you need to do your research and connect with the appropriate authorities for the countries you plan to travel between and not base it off the information in this podcast alone.

It's very informative to hear about yours, and Ana's experiences. Perhaps you could add some links to resources, such as where to apply for, and obtain the CITES import/export permits, known-good pet transport agencies, and so-on.
It saddened me to hear about the failure to import Mango, and I hope that you can be reunited with him soon.

Thank you!💖 Sure I can add those but for reference CITES you need to contact them directly depending on the countries; cites.org and I always recommend ipata.org for pet agents but as Ana mentioned she just googled😊 and found a good agency to help her too!

Once I finish my vet tech program I have to figure out how to get my Conure across the U.S border. I have no idea where to begin. The process sounds quite complicated.

Depends on the country you are coming from! But it would be a lot of the same steps Ana shared in the podcast and I know that into the US birds must do a 30 day quarantine at one of their specified quarantine facilities as well. I would start with researching the export and import requirements and contacting CITES!

I am in Ontario, Canada. Thank you. Definitely,I tend to do a bunch of research before hand. 30 days?? Oh my. 😭

@@sakurausagi249 yes🥺 if your in Canada then you should contact the CFIA first as they are the ones who deal with the import/export of animals

What are the chances that the bird flies away and never come back. It happened to me once. It was a green parrot. It is almost 20 years now, I never had a bird after that .. Also tell us whether a Conure can take free flights if at all can be done.

While you were travelling or at the airport? How did this happen? As Ana mentioned in this episode she always has her Conure on an aviator harness with a leash because it’s not safe otherwise and there is always a risk. Free flight is something that should be discussed with professionals who offer this type of training like BirdTricks!
