Jack Larson, a playwright and producer best known for playing Jimmy Olsen on the 1950's 'Superman' TV series, has died at 87. Scott Pelley has more on Larson's life.
I am another one of the "baby boomer" generation that grew up watching "Superman" on television and Jack Larson was so perfectly good at playing Jimmy Olsen that I never thought he could make a mistake in playing the role. Also around that same time as a kid, I was a fan of reading Jimmy Olsen comic books.
Watch TV very good best funny happy love me yes miss you Jack 😭🤟🙏🙏🙏💖👍👑 superman lone time ago wow 🙏👍sorry you God bless your family friends me love world peace
What is truly a shame is that not only Larson, but the rest of the cast of 'Superman', were paid peanuts for their roles on that popular TV series: ($200.00 a week for 13 weeks; which comes out to just $2,600 a year) Plus they were tied into a contract which required them to be available at a moment's notice in case scenes had to be re-edited. That prevented Larson and the other actors from committing to appearing in movies or on other television shows. Also, which was normal back then, none of the cast received residuals from the reruns of 'Superman'.
As you may know, Audrey Meadows may have been the only actor to receive 'residuals' since he brother, a lawyer, inserted the words " in perpetuity" in her contract for "The honeymooners", which let her receive residuals for life!
