The second Lois Lane from the classic "Adventures of Superman" tv series. She was quite a pistol on the show, she even made a guest appearance on the '90's Superman show, "Lois & Clark," she played lois' mother on an episode. Since then, I haven't heard no more about her, until now. R.I.P. Ms. Coates and thank you for being a part of the Superman Universe.😞🙏✝️

Gypsie I will miss you thank you for being so kind to me when I was a kid, I still have all the adventures of superman and Superman and the mole men vhs tapes you gave me and of course the autographed pictures. Only as an adult did I learn what a star you were, I'm just glad I spent so much time with you in the 90s. I'm a lucky person!

Slight correction, this article says that Phyllis Coates was the first actress to portray Lois Lane. This is not entirely true; but it's and understandable mistake, because the truth is a bit complicated.
Noel Neill, was the first actress to play Lois Lane on the Silver Screen, a long side Kirk Alyn, 1948: 'Superman' and 1950: Atom Man vs Superman', movie serials.
However, Phyllis Coates, was the first TV Lois Lane. After the success of 'Superman vs The Mole Men' 1951, Phyllis went on to continue to star alongside George Reeves, in 'The Adventures of Superman' for its first season. Then Coates left at the end of first season and Noel Neill, came for the second season and stayed for the rest of the series' run.
Nevertheless, RIP Phyllis Coates.
PS Phyllis Coates, was also in an episode of 'Lois and Clark' as Ella Lane, Lois' mother, following in the tradition that started with 'Superman The Movie in 1978, where Noel Neill portrayed Lois' mother. A tradition that has carried on with Superman renditions until present day.

She was the last surviving cast member of Adventures of Superman. The second Lois Lane on the show, Noel Neill passed away on July 3, 2016, at the age of 95.

Sad to hear about the passing of Phyllis Coates, my favorite Lois Lane. A milestone had been reached with her passing as she was that TV show’s last surviving member. There is probably hardly anyone left who had acted in that series, which ended 66 years ago this month. Barabara Fuller though is still around, who played a villainess in a first season episode called “Crime Wave” and is now aged 102. Does anyone know of any other actors or actresses who starred on that Superman show who are still alive?
Phyllis Coates played Lois Lane on The Adventures of Superman in that no-nonsense, business-like manner, as the character was meant to be played. For the sake of clarification, Noel Neill first played Lois Lane in the Superman movie serial produced by Columbia Pictures from 1948-50. In 1951, Phyllis played Lois in the feature film, Superman and the Mole Men, leading to her playing the character on the TV series in 1952. In 1953 (Season 2), Noel Neill replaced Phyllis to revive her role as Lois from her days in the movie serial. Phyllis became committed to doing a movie at the time she left the series. While playing Lois, Phyllis survived an incident while filming the Night of Terror episode when she was knocked unconscious by another actor who punched her. However, she finished out the episode, as well as Season 1. Now, Ms. Coates joins her co-stars in the great Metropolis in the Sky. Rest in peace, dear, and thank you for all you did in movies and television. You were wonderful.

The crooks played rough in that first season. Busting up women and killing anyone in their way 😩
They softened it up during the rest of the series after too many complaints from irate mothers about the show being too violent for their young boys to watch. It's true. I myself liked the first season a lot better than the ones that followed and that includes Miss Lois Lane.
