Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen, actress Noel Neill and actor Jack Larson, interviewed in Cleveland by WEWS anchor Wilma Smith for Superman's 50th anniversary
Almost sixties years ago and even today I still watch reruns on Superman and the American Way, maybe if we still had programs like these on television today. Wok would be died and we would still be energy independent and respecting our history and our elders. God Bless the U.S.A. and thanks for Superman.
On the "Tomorrow Show" with Tom Snyder in 1978, Jack Larson, Noel Neil and Robert Shane were on the show. Jack Larson stated that he did not believe George Reeves committed suicide. Because, Kellogg's had renewed for 26 more episodes and Reeves was getting married and was going to direct a movie. Reeves also had the part of the detective in the movie Psycho.
Even here & after decades of not working together, you can feel their chemistry & true appreciation for George Reeves, the show & each other. Those voices & their laughter still warms the heart & brings a tear to the eyes. Rest in Peace & the Love your fans will always have for all of you.
RIP to those 2. You folks and George are together again... I was born in 1980 and when I 1st saw that Superman show, I completely Loved it!! Thank God for NIck @ Night, I love those shows that was on before I existed!! RIP to my dude Adam West aka Batman to. One Love.
It's wonderful how Jack's smile and exuberance in this interview hadn't changed at all despite significant age. I see and hear the spunk that gave Jimmie Olsen his charm. Just wonderful. Same with Noel. I see and hear Lois Lane; rather, I see and hear Noel's spirit and charm that infused the character of Lois Lane. This interview made me very happy. RIP both!!!
One of my favorite scenes was Lois Lane(Noel Neill) and Jimmy Olsen in the office picking heavy flat weights between the pages of a phone to prove Clark Kent was superman. They left the office, Clark came in and saw through or felt the weight of the phone book then he removed the weights. Jimmy & Lois now back in the office sitting down realize if Clark picks up that phone book with ease they've got him. So Lois asked Clark "Will you please hand me the phone book?" Clark says "sure here Lois" as he tossed it at her lap and she screamed.
How sad they both passed away a year apart...Jack Larson passed away at age 87 in 2015 and Noel Neill passed away at age 95 in 2016. My they both RIP, two pioneers, two extraordinary people who had talent beyond measures. They were legendary and iconic pop-culture phenomenons during their time....They were Real Stars during the Golden Era of television. RIP Noel Neill 1920-2016)🌟❤📺🎬 RIP Jack Larson 1928-2015)🌟❤📺🎬 Two real Goats 🐏🐏
@@kevinmadden1645 That's interesting; I've never heard that before. It does however fit in with Larson's description elsewhere of Reeves as light-hearted and funny. The guy Larson described just doesn't seem the kind to kill himself so apparently casually.
@@pp312 Larson probably knew the truth but made up the suicide stuff as a way to cause less controversy. He acted in a cowardly manner in my opinion as he always stuck by that (fiction) story.
@@chrisnalina1755 I'm not sure about "cowardly". He simply had no evidence and could see no point in dredging all that stuff up again. It might also have cast a poor light on Reeves, which I'm sure he didn't want to do.
@@pp312 It was cowardly if he knew the truth and promoted a lie. Telling the truth is the right thing to do regardless of putting anybody in a poor light.
I was surprised to see and hear how much Jack and Noel sound almost exactly the same as they did during the Superman TV series. Their voices haven't changed all that much. Superman is often copied but never as good as the original.
In a sense, they never really ended their connection to Superman. She was in the first Christopher Reeve Superman movie, playing Lois Lane's mother, and the last dramatic film appearance for both was in Superman Returns.
Although I preferred Phyllis Coates as Lois and the first season of the series over the rest, Noel Neill was a better fit for the other seasons, which got more light-hearted and humorous. (I believe that the entire series went from 1951 to 58.)
Wow I’d never recognize either of u Tonight I ran across this video Thank u I loved hearing from u I have no opinion on George reeves death I just heard what u said I’ll think about it tomorrow Regardless Great surprise tonight I watched u when I was a child tomorrow there’s the adventures of Superman on regular tv I have a 5 month old granddaughter which is my first grandchild I’ll tell her about things I hope to live long enough to tell her a bunch of things If I do She’ll know Faster than a speeding bullet Nice Love u both
One of My favorite episodes was when they went back in time, caveman days. Lois comes out in a little cave woman outfit. She had some really nice legs.
When George Reeves appeared on I Love Lucy as Superman the end credits read special guest Superman. The damn show didn't show his actual name George Reeves. No wonder the man was frustrated with the superman role.
The contract for a new season is not a good news for him since he was very afraid to be typecast as Suyperman for ever and never find a good part ever. This is a reason for him to get drunk and after killed himself.
i believe he did kill himself. it just people don't want to believe it. i don't think he planned to kill himself. he was drinking, then went to his bedroom, and his fiance said he was going to play a dangerous game of russian roulette. i think he finally lost, and that cost him his life.
So many people are just a bit crazy. Proof of concept. I was a kid watching Superman's Adventures on black and white television. I think there's a generational gap when people are this mean and heartless. Maybe someone will mourn their passing one day, but with such trolling attitudes, she' or he will probably die miserable and alone. It's the internet, trolls are unhappy, sad people who hate everything, it seems. And here we are...may she rest in peace, Noel. As for "Carolyn", best to ignore at this time. Some people will post anything obnoxious, just for attention. Give it no further thought. The majority are human and kind here. And that's the rub, seriously. Peace.
It seems that Jack Larson never toured with Phyllis Coates only Noel Neill. And it seems Phyllis and Noel never toured either. I really think Phyllis and Noel didn't like each other, that's my impression.
Jack Larson was 87 and Noel Neill was 95 when they passed.Bless them both.
You can't mistake their voices. Loved watching Superman back when I was a boy.
Noel Neil to me is the best Lois Lane. She had that chemistry with the whole Superman crew like no other.
Phyllis Coates is much superior. .
@Kevin Madden Phyllis seems to have been a little more bit hype then Noelle. Liked her better
I personally like them both! Neil & Coats had own unique styles !
I grew up watching Superman I'm 75 years old now. Good memories

Aren't they delightful. Noel is still naturally beautiful ~
Jack Larson seemed like a very kind hearted, cultured gentleman..
He was a writer.
As a child in the 1960s, I watched "Superman" every day.
RIP Ms. Neill and Mr. Larson, childhood heroes, from a lifelong fan
superman will always be a legand that will never die, he's loved by everyone
Weren't they just wonderful? So many happy hours watching them as a kid.
One love to those 2 folks. RIP, to the best!! RIP George!!

George Reeves Was Considered For Psycho. His Tragic Death And His Superman Event Trip To Australia Cancelled.
you will always be the original. a classy lady. rest in peace, a beautiful lady.
Noel Neill also played Lois Lane in the 1940's serials of Superman in the movies..
How delightful to see these two again.
I remember watching this when a kid and they were the best of times then

Noel, such a beauty in all ways.
Lois still has the same beautiful smile

I grew up watching Superman as a little girl...I'm 71 now...

Thanks for being such a great part of my youth through the Superman show
Jack Larson and Noel Neil my they both Rest In Peace.
Noel Neill, lovely and classy lady RIP xxx
She was still a cutie after all those years!!!
Yes, she maintained her cuteness into an advanced age. Amazing.
Meeting Noel was a thrill, what a gracious and elegant lady. RIP SWEET LADY..
I miss them both !
Noel Neill aged so beautifully. Shows you don't need plastic surgery! Hair her is glorious here and she's still so beautiful!!!
For REAL!💕
She aged very well. Still cute after all those years that had passed since she played LL on TV. I always loved her midwestern voice also.
Amazing-they sounded the same. RIP Jack.

In sixteen years it will have been 100 years since Superman first appeared-scary how time slips away....
Jack's comment about George's death was clear and empathic. I appreciate his honesty about typecasting, etc. He's a very genuine person.
It is also incorrect. It is pretty well established that he was murdered by hit men working for the husband of Toni Mannix.

Rest In Peace Noel Neill she passed away 7/3/16.
Wonderful to see Wilma Smith, formerly of TV-5, and always great to see Jack and Noel. R.I.P. to all who have passed on!
Decades later they still had great chemistry! Rest in peace to both performers!
Jimmi still sounds the same. LOL
May he rest in peace thanks for sharing your talent with us
George Fish, you display such anger... Hummmm, might you be gay... I suspect that is the reason for such anger... Come on out of the closet...
Happy Birthday Jack Larson. The best Jimmy Olsen of them all!
Typical local news channel screwing up showing a clip from the wrong source.
I STILL LOVE THIS SHOW😊
Thanks for posting, Brings back great memories.
I still watch Superman every weekend
They were two very nice people! It would have been a better interview if the reporter would have let them talk instead of talking over them!
They are such wonderful actors and I miss them so very much. R.I.P. both of you.
LOVED IT...............
God Bless Noel and Jack!
Great memories. Thank you
They still look very much the same.Noel is still gorgeous in her early nineties.
We sure could use Super man today.
The interviewer is not a fan. But we enjoy seeing Jack and Noel, thanks!
R.I.P. Mr. Larson.
the newspapers said she had no immediate survivors that is wrong she is survived by her millions of fans
😢
The adventure s of SUPERMAN 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 for EVER cjd ,🙏 for ever in are minds
He was shot in the head in a stuggle to get his Lugar out of Lenore Lemmon's hands.THat's the only explanation that makes any sense.
I was surprised to see and hear how much Jack and Noel sound almost exactly the same as they did during the Superman TV series. Their voices haven't changed all that much. Superman is often copied but never as good as the original.
When at 4:40 Mr Larson speaks of the special effects then were better than now...VERY MUCH AGREED..
RIP RIH Angels loved that show ❤❤
Love these two!!!!
Lovely people. RIP.
In a sense, they never really ended their connection to Superman. She was in the first Christopher Reeve Superman movie, playing Lois Lane's mother, and the last dramatic film appearance for both was in Superman Returns.
They still look great
Two Legends
jack is 86 and noel is 93, phyllis coates is 87
Jack Lawson had a lot of compassion for George Reeves good man
The anchor lady needed to get her facts straight. I noticed at least three errors.
I know.
I was born in 1957, and Noel Neill was the first woman I wanted to marry.
Noel Neill had a bit part in "Superman The Movie" as Lois Lane's mother. She was riding on the train that Clark Kent was outrunning.
great caesars ghost
Ms Neil, a lifelong beauty.
Anyone have any updates in 2014 on Noel and Jack.
What year was this taped? A classic show
1988, the 50th anniversary of the first Superman appearance.
Although I preferred Phyllis Coates as Lois and the first season of the series over the rest, Noel Neill was a better fit for the other seasons, which got more light-hearted and humorous. (I believe that the entire series went from 1951 to 58.)
Series 1951-1958 Honest George Directed Several Episodes. Was 26 New Shows Added And George Was Killed.
Wow
I’d never recognize either of u
Tonight I ran across this video

I''ve always believed, Linda, that you were right.
the newspapers said she had no immediate survivors that is wrong she is survived by her miilons of fans
I have the dvds and still watch sometimes. I like Noel but the original Miss lane was more of a serious/ brave journalist type.
What year was this interview? Had to be between 1984'1994.
I grew up with them
One of My favorite episodes was when they went back in time, caveman days. Lois comes out in a little cave woman outfit. She had some really nice legs.
They should have interviewed them with Jimmy and Lois tied to chairs in a cave just outside of town.
When George Reeves appeared on I Love Lucy as Superman the end credits read special guest Superman. The damn show didn't show his actual name George Reeves. No wonder the man was frustrated with the superman role.
Do not believe that George killed himself. He was murdered, He had new contract for a new season, was happy. I think, they found no gun.
Linda Shipman After reading the book Hollywood Kryptonite, I'm convinced you're right.
Linda Shipman They found a gun but no fingerprints.
I believe he killed himself. Both Jack and Noel knew him best and said he did.
The contract for a new season is not a good news for him since he was very afraid to be typecast as Suyperman for ever and never find a good part ever. This is a reason for him to get drunk and after killed himself.
i believe he did kill himself. it just people don't want to believe it. i don't think he planned to kill himself. he was drinking, then went to his bedroom, and his fiance said he was going to play a dangerous game of russian roulette. i think he finally lost, and that cost him his life.

golly mr. Kent
That's one disinterested and uninformed interviewer. Poor Jack and Noel.
I don’t know if they heard what I said
Too bad they couldnt get a clip that actually had their guest in it...
Two nice people, I’ll bet they would be nice neighbors.
To bad superman wasn't filmed in nyc.
Jeepers!
WILMA SMITH ........OM G
Does anybody know the date of this interview?
Sometime in 1988- at the beginning she mentioned it being the 50th anniversary and the first comic appearing in 1938.
It seems that Jack Larson never toured with Phyllis Coates only Noel Neill. And it seems Phyllis and Noel never toured either. I really think Phyllis and Noel didn't like each other, that's my impression.
