@@AvishalomShalit All I know was that I was told by a couple people in the media that there are four big PR firms in the country, and if they decide a specific topic is off limits and you choose to talk about it no matter how big or small you are they have enough control in the industry that you may never work again anywhere in the industry in any capacity. There are plenty of topics they don’t care about, and they even sometimes change their position on an issue. And there might be an occasional person who survives the fallout when it happens. But I’m convinced every single person involved with this footage seeing the light of day took a huge risk. Jon Stewart seems to have survived it just fine, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone further down the chain lost their career in anything media or Hollywood for life for being associated with this. I’m convinced even Jon Stewart was taking a huge risk, but since he can essentially be retired and it won’t destroy him to never work in the industry again he has the ability to take the risk. And I think the PR firms also realized as edgy as this was at the time letting it air was actually a good strategic decision for their objectives.
They had no choice
This aged so well. Just now reading the report that the three people with the earliest cases of COVID were gain-of-function researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in November 2019: Ben Hu, Yu Ping, and Yan Zhu.
The NIH funded that lab to “mutate a virus to jump from animal to human,” Fauci knew and lied saying they didn’t fund gain of function. He was able to get away with it because he controlled the industry and got people to say it didn’t classify as gain of function. No accountability from China and no accountability from inside our borders of the people who took advantage of this situation to profit off of.
Ironically, when he first said this he was apparently pro Asian hate. Jesus.
Trump said that when the virus just appeared, but every mainstream media accused him of racism in addition to block any one who had that idea

That is what is most worrying. I'm beginning to suspect that it was the US behind the pandemic and not China. Regardless of party, regardless of administration, the US has proven more than willing to displace or kill millions of people around the world in just the last 15 years. China is responsible for untold suffering within its borders, and their government cannot be trusted, but last I checked, they didn't bomb 7 nations 25,000x in just 1 year. That was 2016 and the US government. If parties within the US were not solely responsible for the pandemic, they certainly had their thumb in the pie. And I say this with all due contempt for China's manipulation and lies propagated by the WHO.

absolutely correct
@Michael Quaid This is the more important aspect of why he outclassed seemingly every late night host as a guest.
He's relatable. He has the same thing trump had. He may bot be right (In this instance he 100% is), but at least he's really saying what he thinks, instead of sticking to the narrative.

I love how Jon, after getting interrupted by Stephen several times, just walked away from him and addressed the camera directly. All Stephen could do was smile and enjoy it. I also wanted to mention that Jon has been an executive producer of this show since 2015 (533 episodes, 2015-2021).
He didn’t enjoy it. He’s annoyed that Jon is saying what he’s saying. It goes against everything Colbert has been peddling for the last year
Please provide proof of your statement. Have searched the internet & cannot find this time be true. Jon only worked in that capacity at Comedy Central.
Gimme a break. These shows are highly controlled and scripted. If you think for one second they didn't plan this before hand then you are naive. Btw, I agree with Stewart. But where was he 6 months ago.
Wow, the conspiracy theorists in this comments section a) didn’t watch all the way through, or b) understand or recognize a Stephen/Jon bit. It’s kind of like the conservatives who unironically loved The Colbert Report because they thought Stephen was “one of them”. 😆
I think Colbert is probably a pretty reasonable and funny guy who generally agrees with Jon Stewart's very basic and common sense argument about the crazy coincidence that the Wuhan respiratory coronavirus research lab just happens to be located at ground zero of a novel coronavirus pandemic. But, just like Jimmy Fallon canceling Norm McDonald due to pressure from his weeping and sobbing producers, Colbert is probably frightened to death of his younger staffers as well as all the douchey woke culture writers (for irrelevant infotainment sites like Daily Beast, HuffPo, etc) who will definitely whine and cry about what Jon Stewart said. If Stephen just sat back and laughed instead of appearing uncomfortable then he would be just as guilty as Stewart for spreading 'xenophobic misinformation.'
