Jake over at Life Rides Minnesota decided it was time to upgrade the engine and went with a BTR stage 2 Cam for his truck!! The results turned out unreal!
Those ecotecs are some diamonds. Doing one over an LS swap on my C10. dealerships will pull them for a collapsed lifter if the vehicle is under warranty, and you can get them dirt cheap if you know the right people.
Currently the truck is on a 3/5 drop and has gotten a procharger installed and is pushing 558 at the wheels, there will be an updated video this spring when it comes out of storage!
Currently looking around at AFM full delete for my ‘17 1500. Starting looking at BTR stage 2 last night, and was looking at Texas Speed earlier. Can’t decide though
I contacted BTR about VVT. Jacob Mattingly over at BTR emailed me back and said they do not require VVT delete for stage one or two (i didn’t ask about any other cams). They do use phaser limiters though. They also do not have kits for AFM/DOD delete, that is only through other companies (which I have already found out before)
I went with the samething but added CAI, Headers, Cam, full exhaust, Lifter upgrade. Hopefully my truck do just as good as his! What's the name of those wheels.
Love everything about this truck! Sounds amazing, how was the performance difference? Also what suspension wheels and tire setup are you running and what rear spoiler is that on top of the cab by the third brake light/cargo light. Thank you, detailed information would be very helpful for me!
Picked up 68 wheel horse, still on 87 fuel, could have pulled another 30 horse on 91 but left it at 87 for the time being! In that video it was reverse leveled with a 2” shackle and pulled the rear blocks 22x10 0mm offset Cosmis racing wheels with a 285/45 tire, the cab spoiler I found on amazon by just searching 2016 Sierra cab spoiler! Appreciate the love!!

Hey how much this whole setup cost? My 5.3 Silverado is starting to throw metal shavings in the dipstick and my warranty runs out next year. I’m either going to get rid of it then or upgrade it with a cam and get a rebuild on it. Not sure what to do at this point or say fuck it and just get a corvette lmao
Truck looks and sounds amazing. Curious what u did for lowering the truck in the video. Was it just 2 inch drop shackles in rear and also stock block removal ? Anything done in front end ? Wheels 22x10 0 mm offset ?
I have a 2016 silverado 5.3 L83. I can't find anyone who can tune this thing. Apparently the exotec3 are a brute to tune. Anyone have a tune file that will get me close? BTR stage 2 cam was installed with DOD delete. Any help would be appreciated
This level of a cam would benefit from a custom tune for sure, you can use the box tuners that come with the standard delete kits and be ok but custom tuning will always be better
It’s still currently on the original driveshaft but come spring time I’m planning on changing that as well as maybe adding some more power and a better trans to it
Almost sounds like you could use some shorter gears, some 3.90 gears would go good and don't be scared of more gear rams 8 speeds have 3.92's from the factory
That could help for sure! May look into it in the future, truck is currently procharged and pushing 558 at the wheels so it’s got the power but more torque is never bad!
@@Zacatecano48 no problem at all! I went with btr because the kit was definitely cheaper and their customer service is amazing, they answered all my questions and even helped trouble shoot midway through the job when I called
You don’t need to change the oil pump but it does need to come off, which on the l83’s and l86’s means the steering, front diff and oil pan need to come down
At the time of the video it was only reverse leveled but it is now at a 3/5 drop, I didn’t want to go any lower due to the offset of the wheels, the exhaust is speed engineering long tubes, no cats, 3” Mbrp cat back system but swapped to a magnaflow muffler
Apologies I know I'll catch shit for asking but 1 - when installing the upgraded cam kit does it half to go to the "tuner" or wouldn't it come already ready to go once installed ? 2 - the plug and play tuners will not compare with the horse power the new cam kit will do correct? Hopefully I won't get roasted for asking questions lol
Nothing wrong with asking questions brotha! 1. Once the cam is installed it needs a tuner so that the engine can be re tuned so the ECU and engine both know that there has been something done to it and not stock. 2. You are correct on this one. Plug in tuners only give out so much torque and horsepower. The best way to gain HP results would be to start with the smaller stuff and work up to a turbo or supercharger kit Hopefully this helps brotha!🤝🏼
It doesn’t have to necessarily go to a tuner, but it does need to be tuned yes, at the time I didn’t have the tuning software so I had to bring it to my guy, now I have the ability to remote tune the truck with him so it can be done in house
