  • Thats right we swapped a Corvette ZR1 cam into the sierra 1500 5.3 L83. No more DOD/AFM, No more junk lifters, and no more stock cam!
This is an easy way to get rid of the DOD/AFM system components that are prone to failing.

Unfortunate as a collapsed lifter is, it never hurts to do a little upgrade

Bro, my truck chevy 5.3 l83 motor must be a god tier motor fully stock on engine internal no issues or ticking, only the transmission shutter, but im about to fully rebuild my 6l80e with everything upgraded new torque converter clutch plates etc even new driveline axle plus new cam since I'm investing in a converter and transmission to hold the power

LS7 lifters are a factory lifter... they have a little different design than the stocks but don't offer any performance advantages and maybe a little more durability. A lot of companies make them some cheap some good. Morel and Johnson are some good ones for sure. Lifter preload is the most important thing to dial in for performance. Alot of people just go by the internet for data but exhaust and intake should both be checked with a pushrod length checker. The whole counting turns just isnt very percise imo. Good stuff guys and nice truck!

You guys inspired me to purchase a busted car and have fun tearing it apart. Another well done video!

Awesome job question what cam you recommend for GMC 06 Sierra V6 4.3 L thanks

  • @joeinmi8671

Any increase in off idle tq and low rpm towing? Torn between this cam and the smallest btr/tsp cam available for the lt series engines. The 6.2 intake and tb made a noticeable off idle increase in tq on my otherwise stock 5.3.

One issue is the blower cam has a taller lsa which tends to lose low end power and moves power higher in the rpm.

Is the Brock Purdys brother or something?

One step back, 2 steps forward! I put on the Range technologies AFM delete at about 46,000 miles hopefully it'll prevent the lifter issue. How many miles? Thanks and good job! 💯🇺🇲

I have a dumb question but I’m ready to start installing a On3 kit on my 2018 Silverado but mine has the L86 6.2l. I’ve been back and forth on this as I don’t need a big cam and was wondering if the ZR1 cam you did would be ideal for my turbo kit opposed to the Non-Dod Stock L86 cam that Texas speed Offers?
