The only player I remember out of all those picks was Dre bly lol Ricky was worth everything the saints gave up but defenders were so scared to tackle him that they would dive at his ankles and he lived with sprained ankles , Ricky would run over someone every game, he was a walking uppercut lol something else you didn’t talk about was how his own teammates teased him about his contract, Ricky signed with Master P and he wanted his contract to be incentive laden , he said he was ole school and wanted to earn his money and the players and the players union made an outcast of him because earning your money was a thing of the past by then smh that team was getting pretty good under Jim Haslett and Randy Mueller but it all fell apart pretty quick, Mueller was Fired to the surprise of everyone, Willie Roaf demanded a trade because of rumors his wife had a affair with Joe Horn and for some reason he refused to play for Haslett again smh fans were shocked when Mueller was fired because he had built a damn good team and we finally had something to cheer for, apparently he got the big head and thought it was his team and not Mr Bensons lol big dking mistake, Mr Benson was a ole school hands off owner but he wanted to be informed he never turned Mueller down for anything, he could sign pick or trade whoever he wanted he just demanded he be in the loop and ok every thing and because Randy was having so much success he thought he could ignore the owner so Randy was gone Ricky was gone the best draft pick in saints history Willie Roaf was gone and one player was actually stealing money from his teammates lockers lol he stole a couple thousand dollars from deuce McAllister , the locker room was fked and a proming young team went to sht , they even let Jake Delhomme sign with the panthers smh everything went south and fast but that Ricky Williams trade was no where near the franchise killer that the media made it out to be them and still today, I was there I remember, there was a helleva lot more going on then Ricky, Ricky was ready and willing to do whatever he could to win but was in a locker room that had the worst culture the league had ever seen lol it wasn’t the trade it was the culture, I liked Jim Haslett but as a former player he was to much of a players Coach lol and he was crazy 🤪 😂 big mean sob smh then SP came in and fixed that culture over night smh it was the most amazing culture turn around I ever saw, SP should teach classes on how to build a culture, he’s a great leader and damn good coach but ok at best when it comes to drafting lol although he will pull a UDFA out of his behind almost every year 😂
