He didn't prove Pep wrong though, because Pep always said he was a good player. The issue was he wanted to be starting most weeks and City are so stacked they couldn't guarantee that.
It's also important to note half his goals have come from the penalty spot and his team are currently mid table. We're talking about Cole Palmer as if he's dragging Chelsea to a top 4 place or something.
Also the fact that he’s a homegrown player, they got a lot of money for him too to help with FFP
He still has to score the penalties. Nobody is saying he's dragging them anywhere but more they'd probably be almost relegation fodder if not for him. But he has proved Pep wrong in so far as they spent 100m on Grealish and he hasn't had had half the impact at City that Palmer has had at Chelsea. Pep is also hardly gonna come out and say a player he's trying to get rid of is dogshite now is he? No manager would ever do that because then they wouldn't get anywhere near their asking price when they eventually do sell up because Pep can't build a squad with what he already has instead, at least at City, he just buys whoever he wants and sometimes forgets he has them. John Stones didn't get a look in for about 18 month then magically reappearedl because Pep remember he had a 50m centre half on the bench. He had arguably the best club ever assembled at Barcelona Barcelona, never won the champions league with Bayern despite them winning the treble the season before he took ovee. Palmer is having an incredible season and he's bet on himself and it's worked out for him.
De Brauna and Salah did same thing to Chelsea. It’s ok to prove manager wrong. Great players grow wherever they go
If pep wanted to keep him he could have but they signed Doku, he’s better than Doku by a mile & even if cole stayed he wouldn’t be getting a lot of minutes he’d be a part time player like Oscar bobb & Lewis so for me leaving was the best decision City rated him but didn’t know he’d be this good

Tbf, City had both Foden and Palmer, they made a choice, I feel they chose wisely. They probably did Cole a favor letting him go instead of making him a bench player
Should've had both. One in the 10 and the other on the wing. KDB is always injured these days. Silva won't be there much longer. This was a blunder and if they don't win the league this year it will look even worse. This is like when Chelsea let go of Salah but they still had Hazard. Should've had both, not just one.
Chose wisely is so dumb lol. They could have got 100m plus for him if they played him more showing how good he is at the very least
Pep knew he was good and wanted him to stay, but couldn’t guarantee him game time over KDB and Foden.
Bs, pep dropped a bollock letting him go
Nobody proved Pep wrong, unless you think Palmer is better than Foden.
That isn't proof Pep isn't wrong. Pep sold Palmer who's gone on to have a brilliant brilliant season while some of City's stars have struggled. Bernardo, Haaland, Alvarez and Grealish haven't had half the season Palmer has
@@jbri1shut up. 8 penalties. Stay in your lane
He is, third most goal involvements in Europes top 5 leagues behind mbappe and Kane
@@murraycooper9273 Penalties 😂😂
Pep obviously rates him. He's said it over and over.
But does he start ahead of Foden, Bernado, or KDB? I don't think so.
Great to see him getting minutes though
He hasn't said it over and over at all. I haven't heard him say it once. 'Getting minutes'?! He's performing better than most of the elite players in the league. You're a joker.
@@jbri1🤡
Starts over grealish
Only saw him once against City in the FA cup, but he was fantastic in that game
I wouldn’t say Palmer proved Pep wrong cause Pep wanted to keep him and reality is you can’t keep everybody. But Palmer has been immense for my club this season, we would be nowhere near where we are without him. We have to build the team around him.
Agreed 👍 he is Excellent 👌 .. but needs to sort his Barnet out 🏴🇬🇧🏴
Never seen a manager in England get criticised more than Pep.
You're blind
@@jbri1wanna fight?
Palmer has been a revelation
He didn't 💀💀💀
With Mahrez leaving, pep was going to utilise palmer. Then Bernardo stayed again too. Pep wanted to keep Cole
Cold palmer 🥶💙
His name is Cold Palmer, innit?
Palmer is playing great, but he still doesn’t start in that Man City lineup. It was good for him to move on to get game time but picking chelsea on a permanent move wasn’t the best of ideas
Yep he does and bags goals and assist for fun with the players around him
He's having a better season than Haaland, Alvarez and Grealish
I never wanted us to sell him personally I thought he was a great talent and could have been an imprtant player for us for years to come and he's priving himself already good luck to the lad
Palmer's skills would be worth much less without the strength of character he has consistently shown. Have we seen a young player come into a side and grab it by the scruff of the neck like this since Rooney emerged?
Should not have signed Doku and kept him. KDB, Grealish Foden Silva, Palmer rotating 3 positions. He'd have played plenty.
Palmer would not have been the player he has become in Chelsea if he stayed in the city. City does not play the same way as Chelsea and he would have been benched more often than not. Pepball is a system that is less reliant on individual brilliance. That is why Grealish, Bernado don't get as much G/A. Palmer would most likely have been played as touchline right winger and would not be allowed to drift into central positions had he played for city. So, it was a good move for him to leave. But saying he proved pep wrong is just downright incorrect.
Remember when they said this about sancho?
Dont remember sancho putting up numbers like palmer in his first professional starting season in the prem
One of the best pieces of business done this season by far.
Cold Palmer 🥶❄️

@@spark556 something even some great players can't do 😂😂😂
He's having a decent season at a mid-table team
He's having an amazing season by any standards. He's playing better than every player on your team
@@jbri1lol. Chelshit standard is 10th. City's 1st. Stay mad
- Cole Palmer proved Man City wrong
- Pep with Foden didnt prove PR Media wrong?🤣
I really like him but the stats can be ignored as it's mostly penalties
FOUR GOALS
He didn’t prove anyone wrong, it was clear and stated many times how good he was. Sooo on that note, I would say he proved people right.
He just wasn’t going to get the playtime he desired at city so pep let him go to get the playtime he wanted.
Proved Man City wrong?? Lol. He's having a good season and we're proud of him.
That shrug when he scored the pen against City was hilarious. He'd scored 8 goals at the time, half of those were pens and his shrug was saying "They didn't want me and look how great I am now"
---- Calm down, Cole. You still wouldn't be getting in the City team. 😂
29 g+a*
Absolutely unreal
Pep rated him it’s not that he didn’t want him city’s whole thing is if u want to leave you can go
Take away pens and reassess. Son and Bowen far more impressive.
Don't get me wrong he's class, especially for someone so young but without his 8 pens nobody would be talking about him going to Euros. Give those to Endo, Sterling or Jackson and they'd be talking about them instead.
Bowen 😂

How does being the main man in a terrible Chelsea side prove City wrong? Had Palmer not left, he would be in a far better squad, likely as a back up to Foden, and have far fewer games - if anything, it means their decision was correct; get decent money & player benefits from regular game time. Both parties win
Pep Guardiola said that he assured Palmer of a lot of game time, he said that Palmer is the one decided to leave to go Chelsea. He would probably got ahead of Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku in the team. Even Bernardo Silva has to fill-in at right wing because they have no one else, Cole Palmer was supposed be Riyad Mahrez’s replacement, they are yet to replace him.
So without Cole Chelsea would be in a relegation battle. How the mighty have fallen 😂
This is just stats driven.
He only has 8 non-penalty goals.
He’s a good player shining at a poor team… but he is far from being ‘world class’ or one of the best in the league.
He has 26 goals and assists without penalties. Why didn’t you say that? Doesn’t fit your narrative, right?
Shame he isn't a Left Winger. He's not getting in over Saka but he could have owned Left Wing for England.
Fair play to the lad moving to London at his age and not heen fazed by the terrible form of the team and turbulent club . Takes some doing and shouldnt be sniffed at. Think about it . Its nothing to do with Poch or the whole team would be at least half decent so dont give him the credit because the credit belongs totally to the lad himself.Fair play lad. Id love him at Anfield. YNWA
hes class thank god for him this season or we would be much lower in the table than we are. we need a No 9
Did he?
So does he make ENG's Euro Squad?!
He's an impact sub at worst. Could easily start though.
Him, Foden and Garnacho are the best young players this season.
Pen marchent
@georgeb8679 four goals in a game says otherwise
Pep should have assured him an important role at City. Mistake.
He's too good for Chelsea. He's better than a mid table player
I bet you would love your team to be a mid-table premier league
@johnhanrahan1931
We're a bigger club than Chelsea.
Before the Russian you were a cup team at best
The unexpected player turns out to be valuable asset in Chelsea.
But we'll, he's the Average Joe Cold (Cole) Palmer. I hope he became biggest asset in Chelsea. 👍

If you don’t include penalty goals, he still has 26 goals and assists, but of course won’t acknowledge that because it doesn’t fit your agenda.
@@hossamenaba I said he's class but including penalties skews the stats. He's had a brilliant season but the headline of 16 PL goals is misleading
@@barry9741 a goal is a goal, I’m not sure why people pretend like penalties are super easy to score. What do you want him to do with the penalties? miss it? I just don’t understand the logic.
Also the players you’ve compared him to are mainly strikers, not wingers. The only one that may be classed as a winger is Foden. Everyone else is either a striker or an inside forward. Again, your argument is completely flawed.
@@hossamenaba that's not true though is it. Nobody counts penalties in shootouts and rightly so. Like it's not really about him, he's class. Just don't think pens should count towards the comparisons. Out of him and Sterling, he'll go to the Euros simply because he took pens off Sterling. Which is silly.
'I can score pens' 😂
Did he prove Pep wrong, or does this show Pep had better players and let him go so he could get game time, he didn’t fit into pep’s style of play, or pep wants someone better. He’s a good player but I don’t think he proven pep wrong
I love English humour!
Too many tactics, brain hurts!
I bet you Palmer haters feel stupid for calling him a pen merchant now
Half his goals are pens
Nonsense as pep rates him highly. He just couldn’t pick him as much as he wanted. United should have gone for him though.
utter nonsense as usual
He’s average as owt. He’s part of the reason Chelsea are where they are. I don’t care what the stats say.
Don’t just make the statement. Back it up with why you think he’s “part of the reason Chelsea are where they are”.
For his size he pretty amazing.. speed is good.. will be a super star no doubt
I hate Chelsea but without Palmer they'd be fighting relegation
Understanding football isn't for everyone.
Then watch him play constantly making crucial ground passes, also can lob the ball over the top, receive on the half turn, receive and score first time. You cant hate on palmer hes too good and you’re jealous. Stay jealous mate stay jealous
Palmer decided to leave. Everyone at City knew he was class. Still, it's one thing doing it for a mid-table side (with the help of a huge number of pens) and doing it at the top.
Surely it’s easier to do it for a big team? where he gets more service and the players around him will finish the chances he creates. He would have at least double the assists if Chelsea players could finish. Poor take that
