- Nikita Kucherov, Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews and Sidney Crosby are undoubtedly the most valuable players on their respective teams but when it comes to the entire league, which player should be considered the MVP? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button explains his decision.

Kucherov has led this team all year, it's been a difficult year. Everyone overlooks all the great players we've lost o er last 3 years and Kucherov has pulled this team together
Hart (MVP) - Crosby
Lady Byng (Sportsmenship) - McDavid
Art Ross (Points Leader) - Kucherov
Ted Lindsay (Most Outstanding Player) - Mackinnon
Selke (Defensive Forward) - Matthews
Rocket Richard (Most Goals) - Matthews
Bill Masterton (Perseverence) - Samsonov
I’d even say Matthews for Lady Byng. He had TWO!!! penalties until a week or two ago; he got one last night and he got a 5 minute penalty when the evergone on the ice got one at the end of a game, even tho he wasn’t a part of the scrum) and he never complains or gets into it w the ref, etc
I think he has 8-10 PIM now which is, I’m guessing, lowest or top 3-5 lowest in the league for players with more than 10-20 games?
@@DropBear_42 True. I just thought McDavid has to get something for his performace this year. Too bad they can't have 2 Ted Lindsay winners. It's gonna be a close race for the awards.
I think it should be Kucherov. The Lightning have no business being in the playoffs if you look at that team from top to bottom. They are there only because of Kucherov's insane season. Its been a massive carry job on his part.
No if that’s what your basis is, then the clear winner should be Sidney. Now that’s a team that shouldn’t be in the playoffs, Tampa definitely should. Tampa still has star players in stamkos, point, Hedman and vasilevsky. But nothing proves my point more then this little stat here. Tampa bay has 5 players on their team who are essentially PPG players. The Pens only have one. Take a guess who
Sid. He's willed that team to a playoff spot. That is the definition of Valuable.
The fact that there are 6 players that could legitimately win it is the best part. What a season to be a hockey fan 😱😱
I'm just glad scoring's back up to basically early to mid '90s levels
It’s Crosby. Hands down. The definition of mvp
Crosby has been a heart and soul player his entire career. He has been nothing but consistent in every season he's ever played. He's fought back from concussions and other injuries, got the golden goal and even now with his team in shambles is willing them into the playoffs. I'm a die hard leafs fan, but even I can't refute what Crosby has done and who he is a player on and off the ice with his dedication. I say ya give it to him.
Well said 👏
In two out of three cup wins Malkin was more impactful.
SID ...but need to make the playoff
I shuttered when Button said he was a voter.
It’s gotta go to sid.
I'm a diehard oilers fan, but Kuch has been the MVP this year I don't think it's much of a discussion as of right now
If penguins make playoffs, it's Sid.
its Sid
Three words . SID THE KID
Sid the crybaby
@@CupContendercrybaby has 3 cups, that’s 1 more cup then the leafs have series wins in that same amount of time. That’s embarrassing
Couldn't have said it better myself. Woo baby Sid .
@@kk-en8ns yar mam
Sid
it's not who got the most goals or points or who's the best player it's the most valuable player to their team
sid the kid, 20 points in last 10 games
It’s kucherov man
Matthews on the list is a joke
No it isn't. 68 goals, leads all forwards in +/- and top 5 amongst forwards in blocks and takeaways. Nobody is that productive while being as good as he is defensively. He is absolutely a Hart trophy candidate. Nobody cares about empty secondary assists. That's why he won the Hart when he hit 60 goals two years ago and that's why he will be a finalist if he hits 70 goals. Only Kucherov has a better case for MVP because of his carry job for the Lightning.
@@redherring4119 Tell me you're from Toronto without telling me you are from
Toronto LOL!! Matthews "d game" is WAY over rated... and since when do we talk about D stats when we are talking about the Heart trophy... you and the rest like you are TOO funny! Only Kuch, McKinnon, McDavid, Panarin, Hughes have legit cases.
Agreed. Matthews SHOULD NOT be on the list for the Hart trophy.
I wish they'd award MVP and best player in separate awards. I think they both deserve recognition and it gets murky sometimes.
Between Sid and Kucherov imo
The Oilers do fine with McD out of the lineup
I really hate TB but it has to be Kucherov. Without him they are a lottery team.
Definitely the Kuch! Without him Tampa would be dog shit.
MacKinnon and then Crosby.
If Hart doesn't get the Kuchers, it will be an insult to the league. Everything is so obvious. He surpasses any of the candidates in terms of value and significance for his team.
have people seen mackinnon play hockey? everyone in the arena get mezmorized including the opposition
CROSBEAST
TSN dude, your videos are too short. With quote hockey "experts" talking in these videos, you would think that they would be 5 to 10 min long. That video provided me with nothing.
Ofc leave out the best player on the team with the most points.. Bread is having a insane year every game
crosby
Should be mackinnon or Matthew’s
Wyatt Johnston
MCD with so many assists this year and where he was the first 13 games 28 th place in points race now 3 and bouncing around just amazing all around complete game less goals this year but still 30 and 99 assists funny it's on that number but Mkinnon as well and Tampa bay lightning player say top 3 one of them should end up with it and it would not surprise me if Mkinnon got it this year going to be good playoffs it's anyone's guess who will pull through any of these teams that are in playoffs has a chance should be good
Hellebuyck should be MVP cause imagine where the jets would be without him
70 Goals is ridiculous. Secondary assists are lame. It’s Matthew’s
Artemi Panarin
AUSTON MATTHEWS #34.
Not Mathews !!!!!!
86🏒💪🇷🇺
When is the last time someone got 50 and 85 and didn’t win the Hart?
'95 - '96, I think. Jagr had _62 goals_ and _87 assists_ for _149 points_ and didn't win the Hart. That's because Lemieux won the Hart with _69 goals_ and _92 assists_ for _161 points._
@@AmoimanLives lol
I think Mack, Kuch, and Davey all have equal claim. The penguins suck, so definitely not Sid.
Lmfao. They are 7-0-3 last 10. Sid has 20 points.
He definitely will get votes
@@kevinpainters7852 lmfao they never made the playoffs 😅
