- Ethan Cante, 8, was playing with friends when he choked on a piece of hard candy. Officer Raul Vega of the El Monte Police Department responded and rushed to get a LifeVac device out of his patrol car. The LifeVac is designed to clear the airways and resembles a plunger. Ethan started breathing but needed a larger LifeVac, which Vega then used. Ethan eventually regained consciousness, According to LifeVac, more than 100 lives have been saved due to Inside Edition stories about the device.
More people should be aware of how to save someone from choking
Yea - my son saved me when he was 8 when I was choking
Honestly, now that i think about it. EVERYONE should know how to save someone. They should straight up teach that throughout high school and even college. Everyone will eventually need to learn how. It doesn't take much time to learn and it's a great skill to have as a human
@@tylerdurden9920throughout highschool? Why not throughout elementary and middle school?
@@tylerdurden9920 I don't know how it is in the US, but in my country you HAVE to make a first aid course in high school and when you make your driver license.
@@John-Smith02it’s not that I don’t believe kids can’t follow through, but the vast majority wouldn’t really know what to do in that situation. Even high schoolers might freeze up. It still should be taught though for all ages. Choking hazards exist for everyone
I think that everyone should have this device.
It’s very expensive. I went to go buy one and was shocked.
@@meganfarrell7427it's like $80. Compared to an AED its cheap.
What's the name of the device if you don't mind me asking. I never heard of it before today

This happened to my son when he was a toddler and no one was around ... everybody was at work and my phone wasn't working . This was back in the early 1980s .
His face was turning purple and I even ran outside yelling for help after running down three flights of steps , but nobody was around and I ran back upstairs and now his face was so dark it was more like a bluish color and I just remembered screaming out loud to the Lord to help me and I could feel something down my son's throat when I stuck my fingers there and it was some kind of a screw and I had to turn him upside down while still sticking my fingers in his throat so that I wouldn't push it further down and a very small drop of blood came up from it scratching his throat but I got it out just in time .
I was so grateful even though I was so upset that I was shaking all over .
I have no idea where that screw came from but he was at that age where you have to watch them constantly .
Usually if I see something about someone choking that's what I think of
😭 Lord gave you strength 🙏🏽
You must have been terrified but you saved him mama ❤
Oh how terrifying. So glad you were able to save your boy!
So happy you were able to save him!
This is why I'm scared to have kids.
@LopezCreations have kids anyways
every parent should have this device
Nope, all you need is your two hands and BLS (basic life support) knowledge.
I really don’t understand why this device is so expensive. I went to order one and it’s 111$ where I am. This device shouldn’t be more than 10$ so everyone can afford one and have it on hand!! So Glad this little boy is going to be okay💙
Government don't care
I never heard of this device before today. I would like to have it also. Do you mind telling the name of the device
I believe it's that much because they need to make sure the suction is 100%. As a medical device they probably have much harder testing.
@leyla7108 life vac
There's nothing worth more than saving a life, especially your own spawn. 111$? so what? Going to rob them of their future because of a device that is guaranteed to work but it costs 111$? Cmon now let's think about priority.
Whoever created the Life Vac is truly incredible ❤ everyone needs to get this
And greedy. They charge $80 for a sink plunger attached to an oxygen mask.
More households would have this if it wasn’t absurdly overpriced.
This is a terrible feeling as parent
Man this brings back memories I'll never forget. I was around 12 at my grandmother's house and a piece of hard candy slipped down my throat. It happened so fast. I was just standing there alone panicking in shock trying to cough, my breath giving out by the second when my auntie happened to be coming down the hall. And as soon as she saw me she jumped into hero mode. She did the heimlich and hit me two good times in the back and whoosh, it came flying out. I screamed so loud. I still get teary eyed thinking about it 🙏🏾 Glad this little guy made it. Big ups to the cop 👍🏾
Simlar story, my sis choked on a jolly rancher. mom did heimlich came out
That must have been terrifying for you...especially being alone at the time. Thank heavens your aunt came along and knew what to do!
Bless those first responders and what an amazing tool for them to have with them. WOW.
I am getting one! This device should be much more known about and absolutely essential in places like children's schools and nurseries, it should be an absolute requirement that they have these devices for both adults and children!
Much less expensive to learn CPR than buy one of these things.
Everyone should own this device .PERIOD. LIFE SAVING LIFE CHANGING DEVICE❤ GOD BLESS
I teared up watching this video. Thank You to the police officer for his quick actions! So glad the boy is okay!
Yes and restaurants should definitely have thid device!
Especially Hooters
Glad they saved him. I've always been deathly afraid of choking.
For anyone who doesn't know how he even choked on it, let me share what happened with something similar that occurred with me. I went in the fridge, I was 9 years old at the time, got an ice-cube from the ice-tray, swallowed it whole, don't know why, and it felt like the cube was going in and out of my throat moving rapidly up and down and I couldn't breathe, while everyone was at the table playing dominoes. Luckily, it was an ice-cube, so it obviously dissolved after awhile, but after that, I've always made sure to chew the ice into pieces before swallowing due to how lucky I was in that moment of my life.
Poor babes😢 I hope he recovers from this quickly. Know what to do in these situations and prepare for such. You could save a life.
Blessings to the Boy and the Police Officer.🙏🙏❤❤
My dad gave me one of these when my daughter was born. What a sweet guy
I bought two. One for my house and one for my daughter and sil's house. I hope no one ever has to use it.
This happened to a baby a few years ago and someone used life vac
Life vac is so useful
Poor kid. Hope he recovers quickly. 😢
I hate that our windpipe is near our food pipe. This is another thing for me to be paranoid about. The human body sucks
Were created to self destruct 😂
That’s why the Lord blessed us (In my Belief) with some scientists that learns about the Human body :)
Omg, how scary situation. Police Officer was truly the hero ❤
God bless those officers.
The amount of people that do not know life saving measures for a choking child is astounding.
Great device and great Cop!
I remember I choked on a blue starburst when I was 11. I ran to my mom and she started slapping tf outta my back and the candy luckily went down my pipe 😭😭 literally almost died. Lifevac must be available everywhere/easily assessable and affordable.
Wow. Glad he's okay now
When I saw the first life vac video I purchased one! You just never know when you might need it
What brave cops to save a child from being choking
Live long Ethan!!❤
I'm glad he's safe.
I don't care what people say about the police that officer along with many others have saved countless of lives.
Thank God!!!
This happened to my son when he was about 4. Was a round piece of peppermint.
My Mom did the Heimlich maneuver.
He is 34 now.
Was so scary. 💜
Officer, " you done good."
Well done on keeping it informative.
Another life vac ad, good job ee
This is fantastic.
TYSM officers🙏🙏🙏
Everyone should learn abdominal thrusts
This device needs to be sold in stores
Hero!
Every cop around the nation should have the LifeVac in their cars, this device saves children!
Great device, Really want one. I just hate that the company is *taking advantage of people's need and OVER-CHARGING for it* IMO.
This is a choking warning.
I saved my brother when I was 12 he was almost 3. Had to use the haemlich manoeuvre it worked and he was ok, my aunt was elderly with dementia starting, and couldn't help. Thank goodness my school taught me those techniques ❤
My comment above - that saved my life!
LifeVac is a device which should be winning awards. I'm sure they would if they made the patent public.
Im glad the boy is okay. They should sell those life vacs in stores
This was put on my baby registry and my mom purchased it for us. I came home from grocery shopping one day and my husband told me he had to use it on our toddler son. He had started to choke in his highchair while eating lunch. He only had to pull the plunger once to dislodge the food. I highly recommend this.
My cousin was choking on a chicken bone or some piece of the chicken & she was alone in her place, and she didn’t know what to do, so she drank cooking oil to make the chicken slippery. It worked for her.
SO WONDERFUL 🙏✝️
I'd never eat hard candy again if something like that ever happened to me.
Videos on this topic should include instruction on how to assist a choking person or child. It would be helpful to spread more awareness on life-saving techniques and most don't have access to this device
See? I told you "technology for peace" is a real phrase, that's the homage of it.
thank You officer You saved His life
Go, Dad, go!!
The device is good, but you won't always have it with you while hiking or on a beach somewhere. You will always have first aid knowledge with you though.
Even without a lifevac, people should've been able to help him, rather than leave him passed out.
More people need to learn BLS (basic life support). It's really very simple to assist a choking victim without any devices.
Hero police 👮 man ❤.
that minecraft boxers look fire
That police officer needs a Medal!
" hey buddy you okay ? " Lmaooo Dude the kids on the floor like he just fought batman
Brought one of these after seeing a number of these saves
What a crazy time
When my grandson was born I bought two of the life vacs, one to keep at the house in a set place and the other for the diaper bag.
When I was 9. I choked on a jolly rancher candy when my dad was driving me and my brother home. Luckily I didn’t need medical attention as the jolly rancher eventually slip through my esophagus and down my stomach. Since I stopped eating jolly ranchers. I use jolly rancher lollipops instead.
And the boy now calls him Officer Step Dad.
We carry a Life Vac in my daughter’s diaper bag. If there’s one thing that I’m grateful for, is having something so simple make a situation that is stressful and bit easier to handle.
So they just let him lay there? Doesn't look like anyone did anything to begin with
I was thinking the same thing! All this bystanders didn't even try to help him?!
Am I the only one who feels like the cops were moving slow?
He must've been so scared
I have 3 life vacs. Parents need to be prepared and learn cpr!
I’m surprised CZcams didn’t flag this video based on the last two words in the title, considering how ridiculous they’ve been with auto-censoring.
I also have a life vac to save lives thank you god for telling about this gadget
I was choking on a piece of butterscotch candy when I was about this age. I was alone and was terrified. The only thing I could think of to do was bend over and growl. It worked the candy vibrated its way out. A few weeks or months later my brother was choking on a jolly rancher. I said to him, go like this: and showed him what I did. It worked for him too! He never gives me praise but admits I saved his life lol. So if you're ever alone and choking on hard candy..try that. It' 2 for 2 in my life experience.
Thanks god
🙏🏽🙏🏽 omg 😱
Oh my
I would be a step father to this child
New fear unlocked: 🍬
Thank God for the invention of this device!!! I call it the Mouth Plunger!
How many videos of "LifeVac" so far.
I heard about a 6 year old who choked on a pickle. He didn’t make it😔
This is the first time I’ve seen cops try and SAVE a boy! What!?
I’m surprised they didn’t blur his face
❤🙏🏻
Shame the media doesn’t show these stories often about good police
Welp there goes another candy getting discontinued.
mom and brother help me in cementery...
Where do I get one?
Playing like running while eating hard candy? Damn I would not let my kid do that. Finish eating before you play.
He wasn't chocking on candy it was an asthma attack.
@@JoeBuck207 You're slow
@@Yasmine91646 So is your mama.
@@JoeBuck207the kid literally says he was choking on candy
@@ejsphone They pay the families for these videos did you know that ?
😢😢😢
Is kinda more than a cpr! But what kind of device is that!?
LifeVac
Cop was just being used. Like/believes it or not, God saved the kid.
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Good cop!
i was this age when a hard candy lodged in my throat. I could not breathe. Mt aunt was a school teacher and had just come from a workshop where she learned the HEILMECh Maneuver/technique! She got behind me and put her both hands at my diaphram and the hard candyf lew out of my mouth! My Aunt Ada: My hero always. She passed away in 2012 :{
What kind of candy did the little boy choke on?
Thank God it wasn't a wire brush.
