for the love of God do NOT microwave or put anything plastic in a microwave. I don't care if they say its microwave safe. The plastic will leach into your food exposing you to chemicals. Use glass containers instead. My GE microwave I bought brand new last week doesn't have a sound button, option button, and holding 0 for 3 seconds didn't do anything.

Sometimes you have to have the door open on it for the settings to work

Strange. His title clearly says *Any GE Microwave Oven.* lol. Doesn't work for mine either, 2004 with a dial and browning element. I don't even have a keypad with numbers.

What does it mean if no one has used the microwave all day and it suddenly starts loudly beeping nonstop ? The only thing that stopped it was unplugging it. Is this a warning that it has a problem? GE microwave JES2051DN5WW

Not for the model pem31sm4ss. Lacks a sound button, lacks an options button, 0 turns off the display.

Same. But, I found an online manual which indicates that you can only turn the timer sound (the incessant beeping when it counts down to zero) on or off. Just push the timer on/off button.
It will still beep while pushing buttons before you hit start to cook.
So stupid IMO. 😡
