Hi everyone, itâs Callie đșđž Actually after filming, Iâm even more curious about British humor. Definitely going to watch some of the British sitcoms recommended by Lauren and in the comments â€ïž
Do some react videos on UK sitcoms on your channel?
Jimmy Carr is a good place to start
Purely off the top of my head, Peep Show, IT Crowd, The Inbetweeners UK are the big three that come to mind. There are some unsung gems that deserve some attention too like Chewing Gum which I found to be hilarious and have moments of heavy hitting drama during big moments with the characters.
Bad Education is more quick wit UK humour featuring different usual archetypes in one classrooms.
The best sitcom ever is Gavin and Stacey and Outnumbered is a close second, Outnumbered is basically the British version of Modern Family. Or anything with Ricky Gervais or Stephen Merchant!
Lauren here đŹđ§ always nice to look at differences between the US and the U.K.! I also recommended Miranda and The Inbetweeners for Callie (and the PDs to watch) if you have any more comedy shows etc from ANY country, it would be great to hear đ
Yes I thought Miranda is who you were describing in the video. I enjoy old '70's UK comedies which some wouldn't be appropriate to be filmed today I feel!
I love the sarcastic British , especially on tv show , good video , Lauren â€
I love Miranda. I enjoyed the IT Crowd too. One of my fav US standups is Fluffy.
Also the Monty Python Flying Circus, superb comedy show... the Pythons are genius
Not exactly a comedy show, but I love watching episodes of "Would I Lie to You" here on CZcams. It's basically a British panel show where people tell funny stories about themselves and the opposing team has to decide if it's true or not đ
It's funny how many people don't believe that The Office is a TV show from UK , but then US made one and had a lot of fans inclunding me , i love The Office
Shameless and the inbetweemers are also UK shows they copied
Why wouldnât people believe it? I never got into The Office.
I love shameless. The office is okay. I feel like itâs overrated and itâs all Comedy Central plays on the weekend.
Who does not believe it? So was Will & Grace, Sanford & Son.
Take a show. Every country will do that different.
The more I see Lauren and Callie together on their own, the more I love this duo despite missing Christina. Love Lauren wearing her dungarees (starting to call them that! More fun to say than overalls)! Callie looks nice in her cardigan!
Sometimes I refer to regular jeans as "dungarees." Mostly just to see if anybody calls me out on it, which they often do.
I love sarcastic characters like Chandler ( Friends ) , Barney ( How i met your mother ) or Sheldon ( The Big Bang Theory )
Could Chandler be any funnier?
Big Bang is one of the best shows of all time.
Big Bang is good. Actually US comedies often have a sarcastic character and ditz. Think back to even Dorothy and Rose on the Golden Girls. Kelly is the ditz on BB.
Jerry Seinfeld (Seinfeld)
Lol. Sheldon doesn't even understand sarcasm
You must be American.
My grandmother was English. She used to say things like, "You can get used to anything if you do it long enough, even hanging," THAT was her sense of humor!!
Thanks guys, always interesting!
I'm American so I find American comedies and humor more funny but I do like some British humor too like the show Chewing Gum was funny!
LOVED watching Monty Pythonâs Flying Circus back in the day. I actually own âMonty Python and the Holy Grailâ on DVD!!
As a European I find British humour more close to mine. With Americans ist hilarious how they tell you when they are being sarcastic. Unwillingly that's really really funny
Lauren talking about Miranda!!!! God I love that show
Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
It's the first time I heard the soft Liverpool accent on Lauren
Laura , Cali ! Excellent ! đđdifferent comedy UK and US , but Cali please! Donât cry is you visit UK jj
Havent seen the video yet, but the title cracks me up!
"Aemrican" and British Humo"u"r
I really like how this channel presents such relatable people
Every time British humor and US humor are compared on this channel I feel the descriptions of US humor are wrong in many ways. Yes, we have relatable humor, but there is so much sarcasm in the US. Most people I know are highly sarcastic, banter and constantly use self deprecating humor. We also watch a lot of British comedies and comedians and love them. So many of us have very dark senses of humor too.
These two are very comfortable together. Itâs a joy to watch.
I think using flags attracts more people
Hello World Friends, can you please double check your typos before posting the video if possible :)? There used to be a typo in every other video, but this time it's in the title! It's not a big deal because I can still understand what you meant, but I thought you'd like to know!
I started to apreaciate British humour the first time i watched a Monty Python's film, after that... i discover the wonderful and hilarious sketch show Flying Circus made by them, Splunge! Greetings from Costa Rica đšđ·
Monty Python made three movies, just saying. They're in order of release: Monty Python: Holy Grail, Monty Python: The Life of Brian, and Monty Python: The Meaning of Life.
I love them both (by reading them)
Callie is more of an simple minded, innocent sensitive person...
Lauren is Direct , witty and quick.
_I guess Most Americans think before talking to make sure no one gets offended, because it can cause riots n shit(Hyperbole)_
BUT ANYWAY,
HUMOUR VARIES WITH EVERY INDIVIDUAL ....
I have actually self deprecating humour, only intelligent people understand that I'm being self-coping, stupids use that against me.
What an uninformed, unaware person. You, the commenter.
I'm the same as Cali (I'm also from USA btw (I am way too super gulible) BUT I'm getting better at it though
I have experienced that, especially the White people is gullible...women especially
(And thats how USA is going downhill) Sad to see People take advantage of that.
_I'm Asian Indian fyi_
the typo in the title đ
Letâs do diferencies between Peruvian Spanish and another Spanish
Perfect
I feel like people used to say that British humor is more dark and gloomy, but with shows like It's Always Sunny and Bojack Horseman it is harder to say that is the case.
I prefer American sitcoms over British comedy. I'm not sure, but perhaps most shows in the Netherlands are from the US and grew up with it. There are British shows, compared to US shows, Dutch networks have more more US shows and not streaming services like Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Prime Video have mostly American shows. So while growing up and still is mostly it's American, so used to it and perhaps that's why liking it more.
Oh my! I just watched this vdo after what happened between Will Smith and Chris Rock in Oscar. I agree with Callie that making fun of people could be funny but it has a line. I don't support of what Will did but Chris had REALLY crossed that line though.
It was a mild joke. Will has issues with his wife.
That joke was nothing mate, really really mild
With the American Office I was like "boooorrriinng, let me switch the channel." but with the British one I immediately burst out into laughter as soon as it started. (I'm Dutch)
I Don't like either of them
its light comedy...they have to be very careful...otherwise there will be RIOTs and Looting and Marching
yeah, Iâm Irish. They are both cringey, but the UK one is cringey in a great way and the US one is just regular âAmerican cringeâ and just unfunny.
Both Offices are great, both for VERY different reasons.
Elaine's dance on Jerry Seinfeld
I'm American and saw the UK one first. I LOVED it. Saw a few clips of the American one when it came out, and just... nah. Not for me.
What about us đ«đ· ?
@@christophermichaelclarence6003 no one caresm
congrats..
"Aemrican" humor. Good one haha
Good video but I think two clips weren't enough
Aemrica. đđ
How about Robin Williams or a clip of Robin Williams or Abbot amd Costello, "Who's on first."
Typo in Title of the Video đ Aemrican.
*title
I love American comedy đ€Łđ€Łđșđž always watched it growing up too, and the American animated comedy lol and Iâm from New Zealand đłđż and Kevin hart is the best đ€Łđ
"Mind you Language" Tv show is british one. I loved it when I watched it in youtube. It has amercian version as well. But I dnt knw why, british version of that show attracted me a lot. I love those actors who played spanish, italian, japanese etc. I love Mr Brown and all other characters. It is a gem
Same
Ali Nadim was my favourite!
I noticed the title has a typo error. Was that deliberate?
Iâm a very direct person and like when others are too. Sometimes I donât get sarcasm either, it might be an American trait. I think we tend to take things literally.
Iâm not sure itâs an American thing because we have many subcultures here. Iâm very sarcastic and so are a lot of people I know. Are you from the Northern part? I think Yankees tend to be more direct. Iâve mostly lived in the South and many of us are masters of the backhanded compliment.
Yeah, it could partly be my personality too. Yes, Iâm from Massachusetts.
I heard they say americans use normal things making it crazy, whereas brits take crazy stuff pretending like normal haha
â€ïž
It's always good to see Lauren from the UK .
Ricky Gervais is a genius
Was the title also a comical thing or a typo with the Aemrican Humor instead of american.
A spelling error in this title Aemrican lol it's American đđđ€Ł
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
I think The Office is one of the few times where people actually like the US version as much as the original, if not more. I have seen British people saying that while they love both they actually prefer the US version.
I am from India where we use both types of jokes đ
Would you ever tryin with South Asian friends
It's kind hard having sarcastic humor, because people often don't know if i'm joking or being serious, and it's difficult being understood when i'm speaking but when i'm texting it's even worse
I love this channel, but does anyone else feel like the lighting/exposure is a bit excessive?
In Australia generally the more offensive names you call each other the closer you are as friends.
Do you guys openly make fun of political leaders and celebrities the way we do in the USA?
@@anndeecosita3586 yes, absolutely...đđ...you should search CZcams for Sammy J, who is an Australian Comedian.
@@anndeecosita3586 God yes! You should hear what we say about our current Prime Minister and his Deputy đ
@@anndeecosita3586 Watch Sammy J,especially his ' Playschool' series. Very dry, love it.
Also Jimmy Rees. He's done a genius series throughout Covid called 'Meanwhile in Australia', which is sheer brilliance and the way those in the know get their news!
@@anndeecosita3586 Wow in India if I make fun of a Poltician or PM.... Especially the Current PM......I'll loose friends or get demoted in my Job
Coz the current party does Religion politics...and most population is Hindu
_It wasn't like that back then_
The title has typo right? American?
Sarcastic is my identification
Aemrican Urles!
yes i love the title⊠âAemricanâ đșđžđ
I hope they fix that. đ€
American humor is so different I find it different to get used to
"Do you the differences between American and British humor?"
That tickles me. Lol
Humor is best represented by the girls' faces.
I am from Bangladesh
I don't know if you noticed, but your title has a spelling mistake, it says Aemrican Humor instead of American Humor
The American comedian is the smart talker whereas as the British comic is the down on his luck type. The American has a positive outlook whereas as Lauren like most Brits is always a little down on herself. Brits always think they are a bit better than they are.Americans always see the sun.
The USA has a lot of subcultures. In my culture banter is common starting from a little kid. For example we do this thing called âyour mamaâ jokes. We all laugh about it. So we learn as little kids to hone bantering on skills with your mama jokes. And then older when we are at gatherings with friends and family we commonly rib each other. I make fun of people and they make fun of me. Itâs delightful. Actually if we donât make fun of you then it probably means we donât like you and or we think youâre a fuddy duddy.
I think there are other kinds of comedy too. Like thereâs the family comedy which I loved Fresh Prince of Bel Aire and then thereâs the raunchy comedy. I like both. I used to watch Benny Hill as a kid (when my parents werenât home) and laugh my head off. đ
Wait I feel like I missed the video , they didn't really compare much did they ? Like 2 clips from the office and Jennifer Lawrence? Jennifer Lawrence isn't seen as a funny person so I don't really get it
Untied Staets of Aemrica
Aemrican Humor, nice
Typo in the title. â€ïž
UK sit com"s streets ahead.
British humour is self deprecating . American humour is always wanting to be the hero/redemption story. That's the difference.
Once I read somewhere something like this: American humour = the main character tells the joke, British humour = the main character IS the joke
@@alrisan71 I donât totally agree with that because there different forms of comedy. In sketch comedy and in slap stick comedy usually the main character is being made fun of for being stupid. For example in Adam Sandler, Jim Carey and Wayans Brothers movies they are the joke. The comedians all come from sketch shows Saturday Night Live and In Living Color.
I think this is definitely the case with our movies and sitcoms. Not really with standup and sketch comedy.
Except the Simpsons and Seinfeld
@@Sebas_Mendez_Kinoman Those are Great examples of where the characters are the joke. Married With Children is another one I thought of. The main humor is that the lead character is a big time loser, his wife is the laziest housewife ever, his daughter is ditzy harlot and his son is an awkward weirdo. I loved that show. đ
Between those two British? Hands down, British humour. American humour is so obvious. I like biting satire and very dry wit, Americans just have no idea how to be less obvious.
U may wanna check the title⊠đ«đŹ
It would have been nice to see the clips. Even a dubbed over of the clip or pitched higher to avoid copyright
I'm Southeast Asian but I tend to like UK humor more, I don't like the USA humor that much...I don't even like the humor in our country's tv shows which is worse than the American ones.
UK and East Asian humor is much more relatable to me.
Love your videos
In Germany we have "mother jokes"
come on guys, you mispelled american twice!
Python was great, much better than SNL (so was SCTV), the British are better at sketch comedy, because they're better actors. Americans are better at stand-up. R. Dangerfield, R. Pryor, E. Murphy, F. Brooks, D. Rickles, and J. Winters were all geniuses. Also, their best sitcoms have come from stand-up guys starting a show (Newhart, Seinfeld, Romano, to name a few).
When you watch that and know only "kind of" and "like" words be like. Like like my kind of like comment. Like!
British humor is the best!
British humor is Black Books for me
The first clip was out of context
Curb Your Enthusiasm!
Spell check your headline, guys!
aEmrican?!? đ€·đ»ââïž
i donât agree with these generalizations but whatever. also bad examples in my opinion and Jennifer Lawrence (who was being interviewed on that clip of the Graham Norton Show) is American. like as an American I have never found the US version of The Office funny. On the other hand shows like Nathan for You, Broad City, Eric Andre Show, 30 Rock, Itâs Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Rick & Morty, etc. are hilarious.
Thank you UK for giving us Monty Python and Mr. Bean.
Blackadder is better by far than Mr Bean. And who can forget Spitting Image!
aemrican;)
British humour is indeed very dry. American humour is quite more diverse I would say, but what I donât like is the way some shows or movies still mock other peopleâs cultures. Whenever there is a Canadian, French, Latino, German etc. character, theyâre almost always accompanied by clichĂ©s pertaining to their culture of origin. What the directors donât realise is that most American shows and movies are viewed worldwide and so their audience might probably be annoyed.
It's really annoyed for us French and the rest of the European countries.
Personally I prefer the UK sense of humour to the American one...
Sounds like Lauren is remembering Miranda Hart.
The title of the video needs to be corrected
British Office is so much better
The UK version of The Office is much, much darker and more dismal/depraved, but the characters are also less cartoony and more believable as real people. Compare Gareth to Dwight - literally every office in the US or UK has someone like Gareth: painfully uncool, next to zero dignity, pathetic, and sycophantic. Dwight, on the other hand, is also all of those things, but more of an abrasive asshole who goes out of his way to sow discord among his coworkers and acts as a central antagonist in the US version. Personally I find Dwight an over-the-top cliché and not believable as a person. He mellows out a bit in later seasons but still leaves me overall unconvinced.
Aemricanđ„”
Ah yes, I love âAemericanâ humor đ
Anyone who wants to try pure British humor, take a look at âJamâ by âChris Morrisâ.
Aemrican?
Callie is great but she smiles during the whole video which makes it kinda hard for me to read if she is really interested or just being nice :D
aemrican
One of my favorite comedians was John Pinette. He was a standup comedian who did relatable self deprecating humor, and it was just hysterically funny. Sadly, he passed away in 2014, but his comedy will live on forever. Just like Callie, Iâm an American who takes things very literally, so it would probably take me a while to get used to British humor.
