    Man am I a dummy. I watched nearly 3/4 of this video thinking this looks easy then realized there wasn’t a front axle. It’s 2!wheel drive. No wonder it looked so easy. Lmao.

    At 8:07 if you rotated the oil pan counter clock wise, ie spin the sump towards the front of the car there will be enough room to for the thin part of the pan (front) to slide under the oil pick up tube. Did my wife's car today. 2005 ,3.7 liter v6, 2 wheel drive. I was able to take the pan off then unbolt the pick up tube and remove the gasket/windage tray. The hardest part was separating the gasket from the oil pan, once I got the gasket free from the pan I spun it around and took it out. I was able to clean everything up and install the new gasket and new oring on the pick up tube and bolt everything back up. Make sure to put a few oil pan bolts in the gasket before tightening the bolt and nuts on the pickup tube. They will help line up the bolt holes so when you put the pan everything lines up. Just install the pan in reverse of how it came off. Thin(front) of the pan under the pick up tube then spin the sump clock wise towards the back of the car and bingo bango you're done 👍. I meant to make a video showing it but we ran out of daylight ☹️ . I used the fel-pro OS30743R from from rockauto. Half price of the same gasket from AutoZone and includes a new pick up tube oring. If it leaks I'll make a video.

    I have a dodge ram 3.7L and it looks about the same, well worse since mine has been leaking for 4 or 5 years, I always thought it was the rear main seal because it spread to the bottom of the transmission. I need to get it fixed tired of having to pour oil in it between changes.

    Done this job 2 times... Newer model 2012(I work at a Jeep Dealership)
    New pan and windage tray...
    New oil and filter... started up...oil light won't go out! Checked it e a gauge...no pressure took it all back down to mack sure the o ring on the pick up tube wasn't torn or bent
    Tried it again.stage three replacing the tube... "I'm Baffled as to why no oil pressure"😣

    O6 commander... put that aluminum cover over the fly wheel so you are able to Remove the oil Pan with no trouble... If it is 06 commander 4.7 limited V8 That would be a Mercedes transmission automatic...

  • @jimlamb5508

    DESPITE all the videos saying it is easy, it is NOT! 1) the oil pan gasket is glued on both sides with very strong sealant 2) the bolts at the back are extremely hard to access (yes drop the crossmember and remove engine mount bolts and jack up) 3) just for funnzies there may be one bolt at the back which has a 10mm head instead of 8mm. 4) when the oil pan is unstuck it will come out with the rear mount. I would highly recommend you replace rod bearing #6 at this time, due to crazy design the pick up tube is at the rear and the oil pump is at the front which means during oil changes, there is no oil until the pump can refill the pickup tube.

    I can't thumbs up or down, Just if you can please replace title with year and make of your jeep, it'll clarify what it's for, I've got a 08' jeep wrangler and the oil pan has a different set up, Thank you.

      No. It wasn't necessary. This is a 2 wheel drive. If you have a 4 wheel drive model, it might be necessary to lift or jack it up.

    • @munksdustygarage6412
      @munksdustygarage6412  Před 5 lety +2

      No, it's a 2 wheel drive. On a 4x4 you will have the front driveshaft, differential, and axles in the way, making the job a little harder.

      @@davidbottles7298 how did you do it man, I have a liberty limited 3.7 4x4 2002 , help , every single detail on how you did it will be appreciated, thanks.

    • @davidbottles7298
      @davidbottles7298 Před 4 lety +1

      Francisco Martinez you will have to support the jeep body-frame behind the front wheels. Remove front wheels. Loosen all four bolts from the front sub frame that bolts to front body of vehicle. Remove the two bolt on the rear and loosen the two bolts in the front. The goal is to lower the front axle and suspension as an assembly. Pry the suspension sub frame a down from the vehicle will need a floor jack to lift back into place when ready to reassemble. This will allow enough clearance to remove oil pan to slide out to the transmission side and for reinstalling. Complete your pan replacement as shown in the video. Hope this helps.

      @@davidbottles7298 thanks man , so you didn't have to lift the engine up like the manual says, I see, so yo lower the front axle instead, but seems and sounds like more work then lifting the engine a few inches up, or am I wrong, what do think since you already did it your own way, what are your thoughts, and thanks for sharing your experience man!!!
