  • Why Google Glass Failed... And Why It's Coming Back.
What happened to Google Glass? How does Google Glass work? Does Glass record video and take photos? Was Glass successful? What is Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2? How can I become a Google Glass Explorer? Does Glass us AR or VR in its smart glasses? Why were there privacy and safety issues surrounding the release of Glass? Was Google Glass a flop? Google Glass 2020 may see a revival.
We discuss how Google's Smartglasses tried to for a ubiquitous computer to revolutionise the way we live our lives and how an invention that struggled to get off the ground is now thriving in the manufacturing, logistics, engineering and healthcare industries. Here's How It Happened.

Think of the amount of EMF radiation right there up close and personal to the optic nerve and frontal lobe. Air Pod ear buds (bletooth) is bad enough. When will we, the users of technology, wake up to the real, physical, biological dangers of wireless?

Because of the aesthetic when worn, and the "always exposed" camera. Glass would never be successful in every-day/social life. You make yourself look kinda silly and stand out. On top of that , you put off your friends/etc. in social situations , as you are constantly pointing a camera at them.
Its value will only be realized in situations where:
    - both hands are needed
    - appearance does not matter to the wearer
    - situation is in a non-social environment

      You're certainly right.
And it seems like manufacturing and engineering is the perfect environment that ticks all three of those boxes.

The interesting thing is people tried to pass a breastfeeding consultation app as one of its success cases. Surely you not only want to be potentially filming everything, but also make sure when you do film something it's your own exposed breasts.
That aside from the fact that breastfeeding technique is something you pick up in a couple of days in average so it's a bit of an overreaction to buy something like glass just for that period, so far from being a killer product.
Maybe next time they up their game and create a gynecological exam app. It's just medicine guys don't be creeps jeez.

In a book by Michael Crichton called "Airframe" he described 'Augmented Reality' glasses that aircraft engineers and builders wore for viewing 3D transparent schematic overlays in real time -- THAT WAS 25 YEARS AGO. In 'Actual Reality' humans are pathetically slow.

It failed for commercial use because women complained that people were going to use record them without compensating them properly. I really would have liked to have the Google glass even without a camera, just for getting info and GPS.

The only reason why I’d probably get a pair of AR Glasses is for my job. Well, I’m young and don’t have a job, and I’m still in High School, but I have interests in Robots and 3D Mechanical Design and Engineering.
The thing is that I suck at 3D printing and most of the time my 3D prints fail either because a part is too big or too small in my mechanical machine.
With AR Glasses, I can actually see how big my parts are and how big they WILL be in real-life scale. That way I can plan ahead of time and make changes here and there.
I hope that this tech would get better and better, and that the tech would be cheaper than a mobile device soon.
I don’t care how ugly or beautiful the glasses are though. As long as they work!
