Yeah I've always wondered because they state that for the fusion dance, they have to be the exact same power level, so that means that one person has to lower their power level for the other person. So I've always wondered if that means that the fusion uses that persons lowered power level. But with the potara fusion, one person doesn't have to lower their power level

He uses the spirit sword which is similair to something vegeta used but he also has a goofy personality and likes to fight for fun whereas gogeta is a bit more serious.

Actually, the thing is that both are equals, it's just that the chances for the fusion to happen succesfully is more in potara as it doesn't require any proper angle, finger matching and all that bs, it can be done in an instant as it guarantees a 100 % Successful fusion, whereas the Fusion Dance is an alternative that has like 50/50 chance for the fusion to happen successfully, hence it takes time to pull it off, so in a situation where you don't have much time against the enemy, you go with the potara, whereas when you have enough time against your enemy, you go for the Dance. That's my Theory

The answer is definite if you consider the validity of your sources. For example, the Daizenshuu states that Potara is more powerful in two separate entries, & WSJ says Fusion is more powerful. These two sources cannot coexist, so you must decide which is more valuable.
In this case, the Daizenshuu is far more reliable than Jump articles because of its method of creation, Toriyama interviews, & being specifically endorsed by him. In Jump articles, the content is largely up to Jump writers.

The actual translation is only stating that both fusions are capable of more than anything that Goku or Vegeta could put out individually, meaning that at bare minimum both fusions are above UI Goku. That doesn’t mean the fusions are the same strength. Vegito is still stronger.
Honestly you can’t take that into facts anymore. Potara was classed to last forever by elder kai, yet it doesn’t. They even said the reason they defused in buu saga was cause they were inside of buu. Potara now been retconned and now there’s no clear answer to which fusion is stronger.

The problem with that is that if we take the character then Gogeta win because the fight vs Broly happened later than the zamasu arc so the Goku and Vegeta the fused to Make Gogeta were way stronger than they used to be when fusing into vegito

Doesn't add up pure fan head canon it doesn't mean that just because one user has to lower the pl in order fuse that makes the fusion weaker nothing's be stated or implied with that to my knowledge. The fusion could still draw out the full power of both fusees they just need to equal their powers in order to fuse

Ive never seen so many ppl use the head canon that bc one the two ppl who have to fuse have to lower their energies means the fusion is overall weaker but its stated that not only does it combine the power of the fusee’s but adds on to it as well
Since the fusion dance needs two people of the same strength and the potaras don't, they have a clear advantage.
Patara fusion is more stable, lasts longer, the two people involved don’t have to match their power levels. That means that the Patara Fusion will combine their powers at the existing levels. With Fusion dance, it only lasts 30 minutes, it has to be performed perfectly in sync, and power levels have to match exactly. In the Gotenks fusion trunks has to lower his power level to Goten’s level for it to work. So the Fusion dance can potentially have a stronger outcome, it has too many prerequisites that, if not met, can have a negative impact on the outcome. The Patara fusion eliminates those prerequisites, can be done quickly, and by its design by/for divine beings (the Kai’s) it’s more stable. With the Patara earrings anyone of earths fighters could fuse with any of the other fighters, because the earring ignore the limitations that Fuse dance faces.

Imo Potaro is a stronger fusion multiplier, but the Fusion Dance doesn't drain time when you power up. This still evens out however since Potara gives an hour (which drains quicker when using more power) vs a definitive 30 minutes.

Manly Potara or Dance both fusions require Ki to go the full time limit, like when Vegito used up all his Ki which shrunk his time limit or when Gogeta ss4 used up most of his Ki and dint charge because he was too cocky shortened his time limit. The full time limit is based on how much Ki you have and mantain.
I remember they changed it back in 2018 for the Broly movie, and now they're the same power but the time limit is still different. I could be wrong tho

In DBZ is said that trunks needed to make his power lower so it could match goten’s. So while potara would use the base power of vegeta and Goku, Goku would need to make his power lower in order to fuse with vegeta

I mean Fusion Dance just means you have to lower power level to make it match other person and that fusion ends up just adding the 2 power levels together Potara actually does that regardless of how high power level is and multiplies it tens of times which we have to admit Goku would have to lower his power level to match Vegeta's in a normal debate due to Goku always being stronger and advancing more but then for Vegito its just adding what was there with no power level changes and then adding the multiplier the Potara gives making up for the lack of power level one may have but the time limit is a bit off for both as Fusion Dance still drains time and even decreases it faster depending on the power it takes for the form since Gotenks can go from 30 minutes in base to a few in SSJ3 and if we are going to say SSGSS Gogeta works around the same time it meant that he had less than 10 minutes since it doesn't drain as much as SSJ3 and Vegito might have longer due to the hour and if Vegito doesn't use all energy into strong attacks first.

Vegito. One thing that is said for the fusion dance to correctly function, the 2 people fusion need to be at the same power level. So if one person is stronger than the other, than that person needs to lower themselves to match. The ear ring fusion doesn’t have this restriction, in addition the ear rings provides magical abilities to counter act stranger things. Like being able to maintain your consciousness after being turned into a piece of candy. It also provides special abilities and attacks that is specifically designed to defeat your opponent, which would suggest the ear rings posses some form of awareness and knowledge but that’s a different rabbit hole. Ultimately Vegito would push ahead for the victory.

Also we can ignore the dance needing to be perfection as we are comparing their strength and not overall things. Plus, I must say I do disagree with you saying Vegito is stronger, as I like to believe they are equal and are both situational, as Vegito would probably come in handy as a last resort because of well the probability of messing the dance up for the fusion dance, while Gogeta would probably be better when preparing to fight someone with someone stalling as he would be better off in a fight thanks to the soul punisher. Though if they aren’t fully evil or if the soul punisher doesn’t work, Vegito would probably be the better pick when fighting as you can’t mess it up. But we all know that obviously the better fusion is…

@@iBeerus-Not really, Gogeta was only blue for 2 minutes. Vegito lasted at least 10+ minutes in the anime and over 40 minutes in the manga.

Potara is likely slightly stronger because Vegeta doesn't need to lower his power giving Vegito the slight advantage in power level. It's also important to note Gogeta is usually seen in later fights than Vegito and would therefore be perceived as stronger (the Broly movie happened after the TOP so Vegito would've been much stronger than his appearance in the Future Trunks Saga). Potara also has a longer time limit and theoretically should last longer than Gogeta as long as their power output is the same though I could be wrong on that.

Gogeta is a slight discount Vegito. The "In case of no potara" emergency fusion. It's completely free, just have matching power levels and do a perfectly synced dance and you can fuse anytime, anywhere at the cost of having a slightly lower power level and half the fusion duration.
If you’ve watched super, vegito got severely nerfed, the potara last a a couple-few minutes now, while fusion dance still last the full 30. Gogeta wins hands down

It really boils down to their personalities. Vegito it too arrogant and loses his fights due to his time limit, while Gogeta is more calm and decisive leading to him never losing a battle despite his 30 minute time limit. In short, although they are the same in terms of power, Gogeta is a better fighter so he has a slight edge over his counterpart
Originally Potaras were supposed to be stronger by default, but this has changed to a simple formula.
Potara: (a+b)x Fusion multiplier
Dance Fusion: if a=b, (a+b) x Fusion otherwise the stronger person has to power down (which was the case from the beginning)
So for Vegito and Gogeta the only difference is the time limit. So Vegeto would likely win, due to timeout.

It’s so obvious. The answer is Vegeto the stronger fusion, why, b/c the Potara Earrings doesn't require Goku to lower his power level to match Vegeta unlike the Fusion Dance does. The time limit for both fusions is almost identical in Blue form but even if we were talking about regular Super Saiyan Gogeta still loses as he can't stall the fight with his 30 min time limit compared to the 1 hour the potara's give.

I always thought it was that Potara gives more power (as you don’t have to equalize you power level) however fusion is more easy to do and lasts longer

Canonically, the Fusion Dance lasts longer than the Potara when both go full power. The Dance would always last 30 mins while the Potara's time limit decreases the more power the user outputs

I thought that the fusion dance took the lower power level of the two fusee’s and multiply while the potaras will add the powers together and multiply because anyone can fuse with potaras but the fusion dance requires a similar power level.

From scaling and known appearances, i conclude Potara. The gods acknowledge them as valuable treasures thus do not hand them out without a reason. The dance can be taught, learned by anyone AND was used to defeat lesser enemies.

Potara fuses the power off the user, the fuse dance equals the power level and the fuses the power
Vegito is better since both parties don't need to be equal in strength, the potara equalizes it for them, but at the same time Gogeta is better BECAUSE you can access the fusion anywhere without the use of potara and you still get an op af fusion multiplier regardless of the parties powerlevel, both have their perks and trade offs.
