You are the only one who learn professional animation for free😊
Thank you! Yes I'll do my best to keep sharing!
Thanks@@alexonstory
Actually who teaches 🙄
Everyone is teaching modelling, texture, and lighting, but no-one is teaching about human body rigging and animation hope to see proper character modeling and animation with facial expressions and controller ❤❤❤
Thanks for your note!
Yes for sure I'll make more animation, cinematography and character performance videos.
The Return of the King
:D thanks!
It's nice to be back at it!
Oh, this reminds me of the old Maya tutorial by Jason Busby (may he rest in peace) with the talented ball. But way more advanced. With blender finally having a good UI, I might actually give this a try. You are well-spoken without all that usual over the top CZcamsr shenanigans, really refreshing.
Thank you! I appreciate that!! Give it a try I do prefer it to Maya, and I use Maya daily.
The most detailed and comprehensible lesson of animation I found
Really happy to hear that, thanks for your note!
And it's free❤
Thank you for this. Your clear and well thought out explanations for each step make your videos a pleasure to watch. After watching a few of your vids recently, I’m starting to become a lot more comfortable in the graph editor. I’m excited to download your ball rig and start playing with it.
I'm so happy to hear your getting more comfortable in the graph editor, good for you!
Thanks for your note!
So happy to see you back Alex! :)
Thank you! Happy to be back posting :)
thanks a ton for the series man. appreciate it a lot.
It's my pleasure. Thanks for your note!
We have many tutorials on animation in Maya, but you are the only one on character animation in Blender. Thank you very much! This is a very useful lesson! Please continue!
Thanks for your note!
Happy to share and yes I'll keep at it!
Can't believe I'm just finding this. You're my favorite Blender teacher and I'm just getting into animation, so this is very exciting.
So happy for you to start animation!
Good luck and thanks for your note!
So happy to see your tutorials again!
Thanks Marko!
Hope your doing well!
High quality tutorial. Clear, concise, not rushed (as so many are) and an instructor with a pleasant presence and no overbearing ego (as even more are). I will definitely explore your other videos. Thank you for this positive experience!
Thank you for the great feedback! Happy to hear the video gave you value!
Thanks so much for putting together this video, you are a great teacher
Thank you for the complement! I'm happy to share the info :)
This is gold, Alex! Thank you for doing this!
Would love to see a rigging from scratch tutorial from you. Cheers!
Thank you Marko! Happy to hear that!
Yes, will take a look at putting a rigging tutorial together. Since I am not a pro rigger it'll take me a bit longer to put that together.
It's really complicated but you broke it down so easily. Thank u! I really enjoyed it.
Happy to hear that, thanks for your note!
I really was looking for a tutorial like this to learn animation fundamentals and voila! Thanks again. I hope you continue making these stuff.
By the way, instead of using "Camera to view" I just decide my camera view while freely roaming and then I press "Ctrl+Alt+0". That shortcut snaps the camera to your view and then you can continue to free roam without pressing any button. I find it faster this way.
That is awesome! So happy my tutorial can help you out. Yes for sure will continue to put out more.
Thanks for the great tip!!
Thank you. This video is one of the best I learned ,because you make it so easy for me to follow the steps .
Really happy to hear that! Thanks for your note!
Sir, I just want to let you know that your videos have been very helpful to me. They're enriched with high quality information in a every unique way. Thank you so much for what you do.
Thank you for the great note! Really happy my vidoes are helping you out! I'll be coming out with more videos in a bit:)
honestly , you are one of the best channels i've ever seen. amaZing
thanks for making this tut for us.. GOOD LUCK mate.
Thanks for your great note!
I'll be back in a bit making new videos :)
Best Animator teacher in CZcams for sure ❤️
Thank you! I appreciate that!!
as always nice tutorial, I grabbed my graphics tablet which was lying and gathering dust and started using for blender, it feels very healthy for my hand but a little bit uncomfortable at first, made my shortcuts for navigation, now I need to get used to it
That's great! It took me about a week before it became second nature. Stick with it a bit.
Thanks for your note!
Great to see you make a new tutorial. Although I personally would like you to focus on more advanced stuff like the character animation series you did. Those were absolute gold for me and I watched them multiple times. Gave me enough courage to start animating my own character. I made 3 attack animations for my game and all of them came out descent enough. So thanks a lot...
That is so awesome!!!! Good for you!
Yes I'll get back to making more advanced tutorials. I'll finish this beginner series then move on to something meatier.
Thanks for your note!
Very nice tut!. Waiting for next ones. Thanx!
Happy to hear that, thanks for your note!
Thank you very much @alexonstory, I learned how to animate better and gained skills😊
Really happy to hear that! Thanks for your comment :)

Happy to share! Thanks for your note!
thankyou so much im trying to learn basic animation for blender
That's awesome! Hope this video helps you out. Thanks for you note and good luck!
Easiest animation tutorial to follow for beginners. Also, I just want to ad that using a ball instead of a human was better choice to animate. I can't believe this is free bro.
Really happy to hear that, thanks for your note!
Thx dude for this free pro blender course ❤❤
My pleasure! Thank you for your note!
I never imagined this is free. I always avoid animation in blender. Now pretty much confident about how to think the real process.
Happy this video helped you out. Thanks for your note!
Thank you sir, I don't konw the reason why layered animation is realism before, but now I konw it. Thank you soooooooo much.
Happy that made it clear for you :)
Thanks for your note!
I search the ocean of youtube and found you are the best professional teacher for beginners regarding animation & rigging,
1) best channel for modeling --> there are many channels
2) best channel for rigging --> Alex on story & other rigging channels (machine, robots, heavy machinery, insects)
3) best channel for animation --> one and only Alex on story
Thank you for such a wonderful message! Much appreciated!

My pleasure 😊
Thanks for your note!
Awesome vid. Thank you so much for sharing this valuable knowledge, you're a godsend for us early learners out there.
I'm going to give it back :
38:40 : Passe-partout is a word of French origin that literally means 'goes through everything'. Usually means either a key that opens all locks within a specific setting, or in the art field it refers to the black framing around paintings that started around the 16th century (which is obviously what the term within Blender is referring to).
And it's really easy to pronounce, actually. 'Pass partoo', the 'T' is silent, like it's often the case in French words.
Hope that helps. Keep the amazing content coming, and thank you so much for what you do.
:D hehe that does help!!!
I appreciate the great note, thanks!
Awesome 😎
Thanks 🤗
Amazing video really helpful ...super easy jumping off point ...or should is say bouncing off xD
haha :) Happy to hear that, thanks for your note!!
Great tutorial and rigged sphere Thank you!

Great suggestion! Will look to do that and help make things more clear!
Thanks for your note!
we should always get back to basics whenever we get confused .. thanks alex .. ❤
Yes absolutely! Keeping it simple is key. Then layering multiple ideas will build into more complexity.
i hear you brother .. keep them coming .. god bless
Thank you excellent content!

Working on the second one now.
@@alexonstory Do you know when will it be ready? Can't wait!!
hehe thanks! Part 2 is up. Working on part 3 now!
Thank you! for sharing!
Happy to share, thanks for your note!
Nice video, i saw that you went to to object mode to change the animation key set . But you can more easily change it in the timeline, if you go to the keying option in the timeline menubar this option is always available as long as you have the timeline in the viewport.
Very cool! Thank you for letting me know!
Will give that a try!
you are genius my dear teacher thanx aloooooooooot
Thanks for your note :)
Great tutorial just like all the other other ones but i think i might speak for the majority of beginners that when we start animating, we use reference videos and often find ourselves stack on how to use the principles and other things you teach on a reference video. In the future please make tutorials on how to animate using a reference video
Great request, thank you for that! Yes for sure I will because your right it is a big topic.
Adding it to my list and will work on that in a bit.
Thank you @alex on story ❤
Happy to share, thanks for the note!
bro plz plz make more videos like this on character animation u are the best if y make u will be my hero plz tell every thing in detail
Yes for sure I'll make more character animation tutorials. I'll do my best to share how I go about things.
Thanks for your note!
This is really helping allot keep it up bro
Happy to hear that, thanks for your note!
Very useful tutorials, I love the way you explain things although I still have trouble following along sometimes because I am new to Blender. I had trouble figuring out how to turn the eyes on and off but I figured it out, I had to use G to move them.
Also, I'm curious do you also use actions in your animations? I saw other people talk about actions and non linear animations and I'm a bit confused about the role of each feature in Blender.
I'm happy to hear my videos are helping you! Take your time. 1 baby step at a time.
I do not use actions in Blender. Although I see the usefulness of them during a production. Actions are saved animations that you can apply to your characters. So you can create different walk cycles and then in different scenes apply a saved walk cycle.
For learning Blender animation, get comfortable setting keys and interacting in the 3D viweport and graph editor. Learn the principles of animation and you'll improve with time.
Hey mate this tut is amaizing thank you
That's great to hear, thank you!
Thanks for basics
My pleasure :)
Thank you🔥🔥
Happy to :)
Thanks for doing this for free! Godsend,
Happy to share, thanks for the note!
You look like professional animator.... Sir can you please make the video of human body rigging Full concept its the most difficult part of blender animation
I am a pro animator:) I'll look into a tutorial like that. I am not a pro rigger so there are many better people to share on that subject.
But if I do a video about character rigging it'll be more of a simplified version.
I would prefer it to stay only in the animation part, for rigged there are also other people. You don't often give us such opportunities to learn from a professional animator
I agree! I'll stick to animation and camera work. But will share other topics from time to time, and rigging is one of those topics. When posting about rigging it'll be what I do to get done what I need getting done. Won't be technically 'correct' though.
Great tutorial, the only thing I had difficulty with was that when I first downloaded the rig I was using Blender 3.6, the balls and graph editor showed up fine but not the rig. I upgrade to 4.1 and then everything was ok. Just thought I would mention it in case anyone else is having the same problem. Really well explained tutorial. Subscribed.
Really good to know! Thank you for your note and sharing that!
Same story but im using 4.1 and i still can’t see the Ball. Im only seeing the rig. I tried using 3.1 and every time i open the file Blender is closing
@@activemotionstudio1820 I have actually gone back to 3.5, which for me seems to be the only version where all my add ons work ok. I bought the hard ops/ box cutter bundle last year but if I try and use it in 4.1 it crashes Blender straight away, yet it was ok in 4. I don't think it's my specs as I have 64 g of Ram and a pretty good gpu. Bit of a mystery.
you are now my MASTER
Thanks for your note! Trying :)
thx u for this video
Happy to share!
you are PRO bro...
Thank you!
thank you brother
It's my pleasure, thanks for your note!

I appreciate that, thanks!
Interesting you really do good job 🎉
I appreciate that, thanks!
Great tutorial, thank you, i am a vfx compositor and this gave me lot of insight , written down what you have said , going to practice. I also want to learn how to animate robots, spaceships, characters from Live action VFX point of you...That would be great.....
Thanks :)
That is awesome!!
Great suggestions, yes will do some live action type animation in the future.
thank you soooooooooo much, sir
Happy to share!
waiting for next parts
Awesome, happy to hear that!
I use Your Add on for my film
when I Finished the Movie I will share that to you.
😀 Very exciting!!!
loving your style of educating blender vfx, i subscribed in return. thank you! keep it up pls!
That is great to hear, thank you for your comment!
You obtained new subscriber 😊
Thanks for your note and subbing!
More beginners tutorial like this
Will do!
Thanks for your note!
Because Blender provides for real-world measurement units, you can use real-world physics and math to calculate the actual rotation rate of the ball based on its radius/circumference and its speed through space.
Yes, wish I knew how to do that. I eyeball it. But having the option to be realistic would great!
Hi alex
Thanks
could you explain more how you've made the rig and the body color, eyes and mouth shape control ?
It all came together by watching other videos. Yes will try and make a video about it.
Wow, it's Alex
:D
Hey, I'm a beginner in Blender, I came here after learning some bits and parts about Blender from Crossmind Studio and the Blender Guru Donuts series in Blender version 3.3, one thing I get that I'm not that good at modeling, but I want to learn the animation so I landed here is this a good starting point for me even though I don't know much about modeling or should I just quit learning blender
Hey welcome! Those are great places to learn. Learning 3D is challenging, but keep at it. As your understanding increases you'll be able to start creating things you want. Animation and Modeling is an art form. So your trying to learn a bunch of things at once. Take your time and be okay with baby steps at the start. Practice and you will get better. I know you can do it! I felt very similar when I was starting out.
Great ❤
Thanks!
🎉🎉 you rock!!!
Thanks!!
NEEDED THIS ! I Can Do Everything But Animate Lol
You got this! Baby steps!
Zoom in/out for the graph editor when using pen must be set in View2D in keymap -
Yes I think your right, will be checking that out. Thanks for the note!
surprise m f the king is back 🤩
I appreciate that, thank you!
good work
Thanks!
Have a question please: Just before each bounce, would the ball stretch or remain the same? It squashes, on impact, and then the rebound would elongate the shape. But prior to the bounce? OR is that an animation quirk? To add emphasis and visually make it look more appealing? Just keen to understand the pre-bounce shape and what we did in the tutorial :)
Great question! Yes typically you'll have a stretch frame just before the contact pose. I like to have about 2-4 frames of the ball stretching to it's longest shape before the squash contact pose.
Hope that helps!
Please made a video of this ball rigging
Will try put that together!
dope
Thanks!
You should make a video series on the twelve principles of animation.
Yes for sure! That is on the list :)
Yes!!!
he's back 😊😊
Happy to be back :)
Looks a bit tricky... I've animated and keyframed in Hitfilm a little so, might give this a go...
It can be tricky at the start. But stick with it a little and you'll get it!
