- Welcome to Blender Animation! This tutorial marks the second installment in my comprehensive series on animating in Blender. In my previous video, we delved into the fundamentals of scene setup, hotkey adjustments, and the essential 12 principles of Animation. In this tutorial, we will explore two additional principles: Anticipation and Posing.
To fully participate, make sure to download the Blender Ball Rig, provided to you free of charge. Feel free to reach out with any questions or comments you may have. And if you've created your own bouncing ball animation, I would be thrilled to see it!
If you find value in my videos, please take a moment to like and comment. Your feedback is invaluable in helping me gauge what is effective and what needs improvement.

When i copy the keys from location and paste them into the rotation the ball is rotating backwards? how do i fix that?
Great question! That has happened to all of us.
What's going on is the curve that is being pasted is in the opposite value to what you want it to be. So select the curve you want to fix. Hit S, for scale then Y, to lock the scale to the up and down axis. Then type in a value of -1. That will scale the curve so it will now be flipped. Your rotation will now be moving in the right direction.
To avoid this from the start your direction of travel would have had to have been in the opposite direction. But, that's hard to know and plan ahead. So it's nice we can do this simple scaling of the curves to fix the curves direction.
Hope that helps!
@@alexonstory thank you so much! All your videos are really helping me 🙏
@@PlaylistOnDemand Awesome to hear! Happy to help!
@@alexonstory I solved this problem the way below:
Select the Rotation channel "shift+e" to hide the other curves, select all with "a"
then "CTRL+M" for mirroring the curve (or right click and choose the mirror option) and select "By Values Over Zero Value" option.
Thanks for this beautiful tutorial series.

That's awesome! Thanks for your note! You got this!
incredible stuff, learning so much! can't wait for part 3! convinced me to learn how to make my own ball rig too, not as cool as yours but it gets the job done :)
Thanks, really happy to hear that! Nice, good for you!!

Thx bro you tutorials are awesome! Can you also do a tutorial about timing in animation? Sincerely o have a lot od difficulty in timing, and again thanks for the video
Thanks for your note! Timing is so important, yes I'll make a video about it. I'll think about and work on a series about the 12 principles.
Thank you so much for this valuable tutorial! is there a more part to this! we really need more from you sir
Thanks for your comment! Yes this weekend I'll be coming out with part 3 :)

My pleasure, thanks for your note!
Wooow, great tutorial, thanks a lot👌👌👏
Happy to hear that, thanks for the note!
Thank you so much
😀 Happy to share!
Additional entertainment value could be provided by deforming the the world around the actor (ball). Shaking/squeezing the box, camera shake during impacts, and obviously, soundFX.
Absolutely! Great points, thanks for your note!
Thank you
:) Happy to share!
Could you make a video on how to animate mulltiple objects in one sequence while using the camera view to record and navigate through those sequences? Thanks!
Great ask, thanks for your question! Adding it to my list!
amazing
Thanks!
You are amazing for real!!!
I appreciate that!
awesome
Thanks!
Thank you so match.
My pleasure 😄
from Algeria . Thank you for the good work
Happy to share :) Thanks for your note!
Wow great tutoria
Thank you!
Than you so much for making these videos for us
Happy to share:) Thanks for your note!
Thanks a lot for tutorial! If it’s possible to use soft body animation and and then give an impulse to roll a ball? Want to say that body acting at some cases with physics and when we want we moving with animation?
Interesting! Sorry for the late reply!
I am sure there is something that can be figured out. I would have to explore that idea further. Thanks for the question!
Great tutorial Alex! As far as timing your first blocking pass, do you have a basic guideline on how many frames you use between poses or does it just come with practice?
Thanks!
Blocking is the time you want to see if your idea is working. Some times 2 poses is enough and other times you need a dozen.
If your blocking in a studio environment you'd want to take your blocking just a bit further and add a breakdown or two.
In terms of timing the closer you have your keys the more cartoony the style. If your doing 4-6 frames between each key pose thats a snappy timing. 8 to 12 frames is more natural and standard.
When I am blocking something for my self I go as rough as I can. Dirty poses and as few poses as I can get away with. If my idea is working at that stage I know I can plus things up. If it's not working I did not spend a lot of time on that idea.
Hope that helps!
@@alexonstory very helpful. Thank you so much.
Thanks sir
My pleasure 😄
nice
Thanks!
MASTERRRRRRRRRR
Appreciate that :)
Can you please make a video on how you rigged that ball and made controls of it?
Adding it to my list. Thanks for the request and suggestion.
I do hesitate a bit because I am not a pro rigger.
@@alexonstory Still, we can learn a lot from you! Expecting a lot of stuff on animation on your channels, hopefully!
Will dive into it a bit:) Yes for sure lots of animation and camera/story related topics.
Blender 🔥🔥🔥
:D yay Blender!!
thankyou for the tutorial sir,, sorry for the link on gumroad cant exist??? need to download it please
Thanks for letting me know! Just updated the link :)
Could you please teach how did you make this ball rig???
That was part 1
I'll add the ball rig video to my list. I found different videos on youtube about rigging and put together my ball rig. The ball, eyes and mouth were 3 different parts.
bro plz listen can u make video on how to make your chacracter alive in blender means breathing effect plz
Thanks for your note!
Yes adding that to my list!
Woooooow this looks very high end.....
Happy to hear that! Thanks for your note!
pLs could u teach how to make a character Perform 2 actions at the same time like walking and waving
Great ask! Yes it's on my list. As I get back in to cycles of animation I'll do a video about that.
Its working...
Nice :)
I wish someone would cover the graph editor in depth in Blender. It still puzzles me.
Adding that to my list! Will get to a video all about the graph editor hopefully next month. Thanks for your note!
But how can we make it like this sir please make a tutorial for us also.
How to make the opening shot? I'll see what my saved scene files look like. If not I'll make a making of for a different shot. Thanks for your note!
Hey Alex, can You create a tutorial on how to animate like @pixeldoesdev satisfying animation???....😮
If you want to create something like this, you should look into Rigid Body physics in Blender.
@@_plaha_ yes, I know there are no tutorial on them??
Great suggestion! Adding the idea to my list. Thanks!
Can you turn on the video subtitles? I can't speak English.
Thanks for asking and letting me know. It's on now!
I wish I could give love emojis. Just a 👍 thumbs up is not enough for your talent. I really love you from Pak🇵🇰.
Thank you that's really nice :)
I can't seem to add a key on 21. It keeps giving me an error message. Please, help
That sucks! You can set keys on other frames? Just not frame 21?
@@alexonstory all frames after 13.
Hmm. What's the error msg?
Try a fresh scene and key the cube over time to make sure that works. If it does that helps point us to maybe the rig or a control on the rig.
@@alexonstory okay sir. will try that then. Thank you. The error message is 'Keying set failed to set any keyframes'
I've tested with a new scene and saw that keys only set when i move the object
Sounds like maybe something to do with auto key. Are you having any luck with it now?
we want more videos Sir 🙏 even i m made cause you are marry hhhhh
:D more are coming!
Did you check out Part 3?
@@alexonstory i will .. ok thank you so much 😍
