What are you talking about, Dave? Pokemon's first opening in English/Spanish was not embarrassing, it's an emotional, and very well made rock song. And no, I'm not American, so I'm not biased, I'm Venezuelan, and we had the same song but in Spanish, and it's epic.
일본판 오프닝은 일본판에서 지우 역을 맡은 마츠모토 리카 성우가 불렀기도 하고 가사에도 "마사라타운(태초마을)아 잘 있어 난 이녀석과 여행을 떠날 거야" 하는 내용이 있어서 그냥 지우가 불렀다고 봐도 될 수준이죠ㅎㅎㅎㅎ

The American Pokemon theme song is a true classic for an entire generation. Ask anyone age 18-30 (therabouts) so sing it and you're more than likely to get a full rendition sung with all the excitement and emotion of a child, including backup vocals, instrumentals, and copious headbanging. They will then continue on their merry way, riding a wave of nostalgia and memory, but not before asking you about your favorite Pokemon and what cards you had.
US, is the best for me. Here in Latinoamerica, we got the same music just change a little, english for spanish

무인판 기준으로 오프닝을 해석한다면
이제 포켓몬스터 애니의 첫 시작 작품이고 지우도 첫 모험의 시작점이니
일본판에 경우에는 아직 뭔지 모를 포켓몬에 대한 미지와 새로운 장소에 대한 모험과
그에 대한 두려움과 긴장감이 있지만 그럼에도 같이 함께할 일행과 포켓몬들과 함께 나아갈 내일이 있다는 내용같고
한국판에 경우에는 모험의 시작이다! 내 옆에는 언제나 피카츄가 있지! 그러니 무섭지 않아! 피카츄가 늘 같이 있으니까! 라는 지우의 내면을 표현한 느낌이라면
미국판에 경우에는 포켓몬이고 나발이고 내가 짱이고 포켓몬이고 체육관 뱃지고 포켓몬 리그고 나발이고 그 까짓거 다 내가 싹쓸이할꺼야! 하는 느낌이네요.

the full american version is actually quite awe inspiring if you're a fan since the gameboy era. everytime i hear it i feel pumped and ready for battle.
I am a Malaysian and we use the American song version. It is quite shock hearing the Korean and Japan version. I actually sing along by the way.
Malaysian here.... I feel ya. We were raised with the American version with Malay subs that is.
Everyone used the american version except east asia.
We use the english version in Philippines too

그림실력은 우리나라가 짱입니다. 일본은 스토리를 잘짜서 스토리가 탄탄하죠...우리나라는 그림실력이나 영상제작실력은 좋지만 유딩저격으로 애니를 많이 많들어서 그런거죵...(이론애니가 좋긴ㅎ...껄껄

To me the Japanese and Korean openings are not that great and boring. But in the Japanese one, when pikachu goes under the girl with the skirt, the lyrics literally say "I can catch Pokémon under a skirt". That's why pikachu runs under her skirt. Can't take the Japanese serious. Ever!
But the Korean ending was cute. Japanese ending was weird. American ending was cool.

what are you talking about dave, the US version is the best (the japanese too) and im from indonesia. i remember that the rap song version i heard it over and over again so i can sing it.
American one is the best for me, but honestly we're all probably just biased to the ones we remember from our childhoods. Really interesting to see all the differences, though! I was surprised as how unique each one was. You can definitely tell which country is which, haha
