Has A.I. Discovered Alien Life?

- New signals from deep space! Astronomers just announced the discovery of 8 potentially alien radio signals, using machine learning to comb through old data sets.
These signals came from 5 different stars, all within 90 light years of Earth.
One of them came from a G-type star, just like our own sun. Another one mysteriously stopped and reappeared 3 days later. And all were narrowband signals, which are rarely produced by natural sources.
While follow-up observations have not yet confirmed these signals, intensive further study is now underway - and this new machine learning approach to combing signal data could radically accelerate the search for alien intelligence.
It remains to be seen what these signals are. But this breakthrough suggests that the question of “are we alone?” may not be answered by us humans, but by our machines.
Special thanks to Franck Marchis for help with this video.

Radio signals only go as fast as the speed of light, so if we sent a radio signal to the nearest habitable star, which is 5 light years away, it would take 5 years to get to them, then another to get to us. Imagine trying to have a conversation with someone and having to wait that long in between transmissions
Imagine that the messages were from civilizations asking for help.
Why would they ask for help? Sending out a message Who would take 90 years to reach a single Planet? In a language we dont even understand? Im pretty sure theyre smarter than that, and if they were asking for help It would take millions of years to reach them with out technology, BUT there Is this new technology wich can go 10% the Speed of light could reach that in Way less, for sure less than 500 years
It certainly is a possibility we just don't know yet are technology isn't that advanced yet
it has to be very advanced tho, our radio waves dont even reach 80 lightyears by then it would have crumbled widened and dissipated in the void. But if some advanced being managed to concentrate a beam like radio signal with a narrow focus and send it directly to a star (depending on ly) it could look like the narrowband we have seen.
Imagine that the messages we're sending are not asking for help
Imagine the AI getting hacked by these signals like they're malware. And the alien malware turn our AIs to help aliens conquer our planet like in the book "The Killing Star".
Wooooow, that would be a great movie

90 million light years away means that even if these were aliens, we might just be hearing echoes of a long lost civilization.
They said 90 lights years away which is 540 trillion miles away but only 90 years in the past. Since radio waves travel at the exact speed of light in space and 1 light year is equivalent to the distance that light travels in 1 earth year then those signal are around 90 years old

9 identical signals from 9 different stars? Sounds more like a phenomenon we haven't discovered yet than alien life.
Fr
No, 8 from 5 stars. But still, likely a natural phenomenon.
If it’s natural, what do these stars have that others don’t?
@@theonlyrexoh1937
That’s the mystery but if it’s identical signals then it’s highly unlikely it’s a message from aliens since that’s assuming those same aliens are sending the same message from light years apart which is unlikely.
It could just be a signal sent from stars that are on specific stages of their life compared to most observable stars.
@@YeshuaSaves3 easy explanation for that. It’s a higher tier civilization. And they’ve conquered multiple solar systems and are capable of transmitting identical frequencies, in a pattern, that our AI recognized. If my assumption is true, we should be extremely terrified, because their is a good chance they are communicating with eachother, and we so happened to pick up on it. Cause why on earth would you want any other civilization know how powerful you are? As ally or foe.

The problem becomes worse when you realize how many segments of said signals could be missing thanks to conflicting signals and gravitational forces.
Our stellar neighbors could be screaming at us from their home planets to shut up, but we can’t even tell because of the noise between us and the fact we can’t recognize their screams as anything beyond the background radiation.
