  • Are you constantly getting left behind your riding buddies and instead of training harder you need a shortcut? Maybe you’ve been kicked out of your riding group because you only have a “Me Bike”. Or on a serious note, you’ve had some medical issues that prevent you from riding a normal bike like everyone else. Whatever your reason, you should keep the Marin Alpine Trail E2 on your list when you’re considering your next purchase. #bikingroots, #marinbikes, #emtb
    The Alpine Trail E2 is your 160/150 travel enduro ebike with mx wheels (29 up front, 27.5 in the back) also sometimes called “mullet”. For 2023, it comes in 3 trim levels. Alpine Trail E, E1, and this version, the E2. E2 will give you best components along with the big 630wh battery. The Shimano EP8 motor gives you plenty of torque to move you and the 55lb bike along. And as an added bonus, Marin throws in cush core and tire sealant to give you more sidewall compliance and all the other benefits that come with tire inserts.
    If you are local to Houston, come check us out. We don’t always stock the Marin ebikes, so let us know what size and trim you are looking for and we can usually get it in about a week. If you are looking for less travel, the Rift Zone trail bike now also have electricity versions!

    Who has an Alpine Trail with or without a battery? If you do, how do you like it?

      Bought an Alpine Trail e2 in August. Can’t say anything bad about it. The specs are great for the price. I’m a 300lb rider on an X-LARGE and it handles my weight with no problems. I’m getting about 30 miles in trail mode on a full battery.

      Ive had mine for 8 months. Its a total brawler. It eats all of it. My buddies all have $10k bikes and I match whatever they can do on this bike for half price. All the components are awesome. Marin nailed it.

    I have the electric E2 since April this year. I'm a 53 year old rider weighing a 100+kg. The bike has simply been sublime. I have been mountain biking for over 20 years and have been out of it for a good number of years - no longer a strong rider to do trails etc and couldnt keep up with the 27.5 to 29 change in trend. My last bike is a 26. I bit the bullet with the Marin and it has singularly been the best purchase ever. It has given me a new lease of life, I'm riding every chance i get and I'm averaging 3000m elevation gain per month - that is far more than i achieved back when i was in my 30s. I cover more distances, explore more trails and it has opened up more opportunities than i could ever imagine. Its like I'm falling in love with mtb for the very first time.

      Thank you so much for taking to time to share your story! Great story! Wow, yeah that is a big change from what you have been used to. Glad you bit the bullet and took a chance on the Marin. Glad you are able to ride it so much! I do miss that part of the ebike where you could go explore and ride longer than I normally can (I'm in the low 40s now). Here in Houston, it can get addicting though to just ride the ebike (to make the trails more fun since we do not have elevation). It's been a few years now since I've owned an ebike but I'm sure I"ll get one again in the near future. Take care, have fun, keep making great memories!

    To extend battery range listen to your motor noise and gear that noise to where the motor sounds like it’s not being burdened and sounds like it’s running easily!

      Good tip! Yep, if it’s quiet its not using as much energy. When I had mine, I would go in between eco and trail most of the time to maximize enjoyment and battery life. Boost was very fun though too!

    Just got the same model, and I confirm it is a weapon.
    Very playful bike, Will Never go back to a manual push bike after riding an ebike !
    Mine came with TRP DHR brakes instead of SLX, which are an awesome upgrade given by the supplier.

      nice! Congrats. Yeah they are a lot of fun, glad you are enjoying it. Yeah, I personally wished they came with the TRP brakes of Shimano but oh well! Take care and have fun on it!

    I only ride it on boost and get approximately 60kms. Once you know how to handle the power on boost, you will use it all the time. Damn beast of a bike, money well spent!

    • @BikingRoots
      @BikingRoots  Před 7 měsíci

      Nice, yeah it can be addicting to have all that power and just fly through the trails. When I had my other ebikes in the past I did feel like they made me a better rider because I had practicing handling at speed when on my normal bike (here in Houston) could never get up to that speed.

    Nothing like a little peer pressure from the local E bike gang to get you to drop 5 grand

    • @BikingRoots
      @BikingRoots  Před 7 měsíci

      Ha! Yup, surprisingly for some it has worked! I’m still holding out, but maybe because I don’t have 5 grand laying around for myself to buy another bike right now!

    1:29 if you've earned that money and have your finances in order you should never have to to consult with anyone on your purchases. Enjoy your life and buy the bike you want.

    • @BikingRoots
      @BikingRoots  Před dnem

      I guess it depends what agreements you have ahead of time with each other on big purchases! For many people an ebike is a pretty big purchase so I'd say most like to at least be given a heads up but again it depends on where you are at financially and making sure you are both on the same page! For me, once my wife got into biking and saw the differences in components and why some bikes cost more and how they ride compared to lesser bikes, she gets it now and understands my purchases on bikes much better than before.
