    1. we are being taxed more
    2. cost of living is higher and higher
    3. increase in unemployment.
    4. we are incurring more debt every year and as a result we paying higher interest payments every year
    5. farmers of maize, coffee, sugar are doing badly in his country. some people are importing maize, sugar, rice at the expense of the farmer while coffee has been destroyed by middle men
    6. balance of payments deficit (imports vs exports) stands at about 100 billion shillings, the deficit has grown in recent years
    7. kenyan industries and businesses collapsing e.g. mumias sugar, kenya airways, nakumatt etc
    8. banks have been laying off staff in recent years

This has been brought about by politicians who are ignorant about economics. When Jubilee came to power, Kenya's economic and financial credit rating was very high as a result of Kibaki's prudent economic management. Kenya at end of Kibaki leadership in 2012 was spending only about 18% of national revenue to service debt. repayments, which is very safe and well below the known 30% limit for pecuniary embarassment. Currently the amount being spent on debt repayments is estimated about 80% of national revenue to exchequer.
Jubilee administration on the other hand was totally ignorant on national economy management and they were taking cheap and vested interest advice from international loan brokers. Jubilee leadership would take cheap ideas like sovereign borrowing advanced by international brokers who were looking for a cut out of the processes; this led to EUROBOND, which was totally unnecessary.
Lending money is the easiest and most comfortable job in this world, because you do not work, the borrower works for you.
Whenever International money lenders see an African country with a healthy growing economy with savings balance; they wait untill leadership changes and they come looking for the new naive, ignorant African leaders to sell their loans, even when the African nations do not need the loans. The objective of these loans is to reap from the sweat of ignorant nations, stall/ stop economic growth as the country gets enslaved to perpetual debt payment. This is where we are now are and unless we get a leader of Kibaki calibre the country is in for painful days ahead.
STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENTS is the next thing to expect as international lenders enforce their right for payment of loans as it happened in the 1990's during Moi era. Structural adjustments is an economic jargon term which means the same as RECEIVERSHIP in finance management terms for a bankrupt company. So the following is what to expect:
    1) FREEZE of government employment.
2)Government to reduce workforce (retrenchment )
    3) New managers for key government finance institutions like treasury, KRA ETCETERA (a.k.a recovery dream team IN FINANCE they are Receiver Managers )
    4) cost sharing for government services (already taking place but will increase)
    5) Sale of state funded parastatals that are deemed not strategic.
In simple terms, the objective of structural adjustments is to free more exchequer money for loan repayments.

I believe Kenya is in problem , not sure about now but in the long term, the biggest issue we have is that we import almost everything, from food to cover our deficit, electronics, materials, textiles, equipments, automobiles.......just to name a few, KENYA should strive to be a manufacturing Nation , which exports stuff rather than import, "example, oil is expensive in Nigeria just because they have no refinery", so it never matters if you create something but if you cant shape the END product , then you will never have any say to market price. and whoever sells it to you can switch it, impose tarrifs...etc, we cant control even our currency, "because we use the US dollar as our reserve currency", rather than using unchangeable assets such as GOLD. We should, mine, make/manufacture, process and export. We should have a Mantra, MADE IN KENYA, and it should mean something.

Ethiopia 🇪🇹 has signed peace treaty with Eritrea 🇪🇷 and no longer need our SGR as they will be using Eritrean ports. Population of Ethiopia is over 100 million(half of the target market for SGR) and the loss of returns from Ethiopia using our SGR is over half the estimated returns. That, in simpler terms, is like getting a loan from a bank to buy two lorries to profitably supply goods to 2000 people and then 1000 people opting to use a cheaper option after you bought the lorries and there is no alternative use for the extra lorry. Kenyan economy is in dire straits

Kenya is not broke yet. We can still pay our debts and have enough cash reserves for import covers and pay salaries. Things were much worse in greece, venezuela e t.c
The coast jobs issue is being blamed at the wrong thing, SGR. The trucking and cfs were profiting from inefficiency. High operating costs made the logistics business not grow properly. Analogy of building a road with humans compacting stones vs machines coming and taking on the job. Of course the machines are expensive abd workers will lose their jobs, but far more better roads will be built. What is missing at the coast are industries, the gap has been exposed by SGR. Govt should build epz to offset the job losses as those in Athi river are actually making Kenya one of the top exporters of apparel in africa. Since coast Labour is cheaper and has direct ship loading, its the solution, because stopping sgr operations isnt.

This talk of saying the government is borrowing too much is nonsense. In the 80s, Moi tried to build a commercial Kenyan made car but we ridiculed him. He was doing what other nations such as Korea or Malaysia did but today, we use Korean cars. Let the government try to lead development. It should however put our interests first and deal with corruption.

Mr Ndii, do you reckon that Tanzania is also doing their sgr towards kigoma eventually into Rwanda and the west ? The sgr is about opening the mombasa port to the landlocked countries. That's where the country will gain. All those containers will go to sgr and those companies importing into uganda, Rwanda, congo, south sudan and Ethiopia will choose efficiency of sgr to road transport. Tell kenysns the truth. All investments are painful until you wait for the harvest time. Ndii is telling us to keep the grains in the stores instead of planting them, that's savings. Investment is getting that grain out of the store hoping that there will be adequate rains and plant it in the fields. You wait painfully for the grains to mature and harvest time comes and reap the benefits. That's why farmers even the uneducated village type plant. SGR is crop in the field.

Talking heads telling what we already know yet they have no solutions. The problem with dinosaurs 🦖 is they offer antiquated solutions to current problems. Kenya doesn’t need lessons from an old text book, we have as many economists walking our streets as we have makangas. We need bold revolutionary thinkers that can get our economy on the road to recovery, not some number crunchers telling us the obvious. We know our foreign exchange reserves are critically low. The CBK can’t rescue the shilling and is allowing it to slide, because that money is needed to meet balance of payments and loan repayments. These are known facts. The question is what are we going to do about it? If we listen to the dinosaurs 🦕 they will preach fiscal discipline bla bla bla. Old ideas from an old text book. Very boring. That will not do much for our economy. We need new radical brave ideas straight out of the wolfs of Wall Street to get our economy on track. Here is what is happening. As we are forced to tighten our belts, Europe and America and full throttle on the levers of the fiat printing press and are getting ready to print $20-$30 trillion to rescue their economies. This massive quantitative easing is going to cause shockwaves around the world as the dollar depreciates. We are currently seeing a commodity bull market around the world, which makes absolutely no sense as the world is In a recession, so this can only be attributed to a devaluation of the dollar. Being that the dollar is the reserve currency of the world, the USD cannot be debased in the same way as the shilling. The devaluation of the dollar is actual realized by a steep rise in commodity prices. Are we therefore wrong to worry about our foreign exchange reserves. We are losing sleep worrying about our depleting dollar reserves, while the Americans are busy stealing from everyone else simply by printing their currency at an astronomical level. They have been doing this since 1971when the US temporarily ended the Gold Standard, sending gold prices from $35 an ounce to now Gold is approaching $2000 an ounce in less than 50 years. The modern economist must understand that the game is rigged. If you keep playing a rigged game, no matter how disciplined you are, you are going to loose eventually, and this is where we are. The solution, and I know many economists will say is risky, will require The CBK to take whatever foreign exchange reserves it has left and purchase Bitcoin. If they did this in 2020, bitcoin rose 400%, we would not have a liquidity problem today. If they do this now in 2021, bitcoin will rise to $150000 as the dollar hemorrhaging continues. This could be the only revolutionary and bold move the CBK can take to avert a crisis. The alternative is for Kenya to listen to the dinosaurs 🦖 as they tell us to go beg to the IMF and World Bank 🏦 who have set up this rigged house of cards. All the Best Kenya 🇰🇪 Make the Right Move.

It's not only in Kenya. Here in the US it's just as bad if not worse. The problem is the disease called Government. These are a punch of individuals who lock themselves in a small room to make decisions that affect the masses, in a bad way. The inflation levels of all countries in the world is up the wazoo. Look at Turkey for example. People who put their money in banks watch their money lose value by the minute. The solution is one world currency that's decentralized and evenly distributed. Bitcoin and and other alt coins are the answer.

Crying over split milk and prophesying no way out is not the solution. I have met people like you, they complicate solutions to instill fear and make you feel inferior to their knowledge. I believe we choose the worst crop of leaders in Kenya. It's time for a revolution...public wage bill should come down. Why do we need alot of MP's who are never in parliament? We are an economically struggling country with citizens over represented yet no development gets to us. Maybe we should borrow a leaf from South Africa, the president must attend parliament and be put to task concerning pressing issues. It must be mandatory for MP's to show up in parliament. Let's scrap away some positions, why do we need women reps when women MP's as we speak are putting up a spirited fight to increase gender representation in parliament. We dont need MCA's and Senetors please. We need to start job creation,we have such vast tracts of land all over the country,if our govt wont do it,Youth tuuangane and realise the spirit of harambee. We can grow fruits and vegetables for export. Let's talk solutions, looking at the past and blaming a govt that doesnt give a hoot is just putting us deeper into shit.
