Kenya is a modern african country. The safe is sometimes at night at some places not sooo tight. Prices are different. Go for butter or cheese in a shoppingmall u pay a lot. Others are cheap. I am never offended by people who try and charge me too much, or try and charge me a tourist rate for something that would cost a local a lot less. I understand that this is just their life, and they're trying to get by the best way they can, and at the end of the day if I can't afford something, or if I think something is too expensive, then I don't have to buy it. People trying to rob you isn't cool, but people who charge you a little bit more than the local rate for their service is fine.

Af what cost? Is Kenya that type of country that welcomes foreigners who exploit local kenyans? My observations in Kenya and Africa as a whole is they welcome people but most of the people have no regard to the local people. I see how the leadership says they want foreign investments but on what terms? Is it on skill/knowledge transfer to locals or is plantation type of investments where the foreigners bring in all skilled foreigners with no skill transfers to locals? An example is the Indians and chinese in kenya, they bring their investments but won't hire a local. They only hire a local for janitorial jobs and then repatriate their money to their home countries and to make matters worse, they are tax evaders. So welcoming people is not bad per se but don't do it naively. Even rich countries don't accept immigrants just randomly.

So I’m Kenyan and I don’t currently live there. The hotels have and always will be expensive for some reason. I usually stay at my grandmas or like rent someone’s house. So it’s not a thing they do only to foreigners. (Just putting it out there)

So I want to volunteer in Africa this summer. Would you recommend Kenya or Tanzania? What was your favorite city or part of Kenya? Would you recommend it for a solo female traveller?

I went on Honeymoon to Mombasa in 2010. We got a dow boat ride over to Fort Jesus where we then watched a show lit up on the walls about the history. Then we had a 6 course meal in the middle of Fort Jesus and it was all lit up. Amazing experience.

Uber and AirBnB sure have changed the way travel is done! I think it’s great! I’m so glad for you with how the Kenya Trip has turned out. I’m guessing you’re headed to the veld. Kenya, in my mind, is synonymous with African wildlife! I’m looking forward to what’s next, as always. Peace! âœŒđŸŒđŸ‘đŸŒđŸ’—

Hey, great video! How's your experience with the internet/electricity been? When I was in Ghana, the electricity was on-and-off, which of course meant no wifi during those times. Has that happened to you in Kenya? And how long does it take you to upload a 10-minute video there? I am very interested in traveling to more African countries, but I have a job that requires reliable/fast internet; any suggestions?
