I don't think I would be able to travel there being a female, especially after their shocked responses to outsiders! But looks very cool! I'm Muslim so I'm sure it might be even more dangerous in those types of regions. But if u had dark skin it would probably be easier. Some places like this it would probably be smartest just to wear as much local clothing as possible...it worked for me in Pakistan just wear a ninja hijab and avoid talking too much in certain areas. But it's so cool and unlike anywhere in the world. The colors, tastes, and sounds. And something about goats that wear bells.

I intend to be there for about 3 weeks starting in mid December, before going to Egypt again for 90 days. I'm actually going to start my own vlog. Your vlog going through Egypt inspired me to start video taping my time there, and stop just taking photos.

I really hope you take the time to read this ‘before’ you finish your trip to Ethiopia bro. First and foremost I’ll start with the positive. I respect your positive attitude, your sense of adventure, your editing skills and honestly you seem like a pretty cool dude. Having said that, there is so much about these last two videos in Ethiopia that make my blood boil. As a British born and raised Ethiopian, I feel a sense of duty to try and break down what’s infuriating about your video. You travel to Ethiopia, one of the fastest growing economies in the world, with transit systems, hundreds of classy hotels, amazing bars and clubs, incredible food and Restaurants, and several other signs of modernity and yet you just couldn’t find one shot of a tall building, a decent hotel, a decent restaurant? Not even a decent road? Or decent train? Nothing. It’s like westerners travelling to the developing world want to only show and continue to perpetuate one narrative. You have literally flown to Gondor and not put a single shot of the castles? This is a nation with arguably one of the most fascinating histories in Africa (3000 years of history). Castles, rock hewn churches, museums galore. But no, you’d rather point your camera at dogs and old cars. I just don’t get it. Why not show diverse shots? Show the poverty whilst showing the development. Show houses made of mud and show the grand castles. Thankfully, even in this random remote village you went too, your drone exposed that it really isn’t THAT bad. Now look I’m not saying that you’re doing this intentionally but bro. Come on. You went to Gondor and didn’t shoot one clip of the castles?! That’s insane. That’s like me doing a vlog in London, shooting some clips of the ghetto, and then calling it a day due to rain and then catching a train to the most economically depressed part of the north of England to shoot crack heads down an alley. That wouldn’t even be that bad, as the world knows London pretty well. But a misunderstood and under-explored nation like Ethiopia suffers at the hands of vloggers and travels like you. Of course it’s not with Ill intention but it perpetuates the narrative non the same. I honestly implore that you try to diversify your footage somewhat. If that’s possible. Now of course you don’t have too. I will and am planning on doing that myself. But until I do, I’ll make a request to a fellow creative. Happy travels bro and please understand this is constructive criticism. Blessings. P.s. might be a good idea to google the best season to travel to a country before heading there. I’m sure that travelling in the rainy season would dampen many a traveller. Also perhaps google ‘cool places to see’ before flying out. I mean just a little research before you travel. Peace bro.

I’m fortunate to have had the real thing made by Somalians, Ethiopians & Eritreans. It’s eaten by the entire East African “horn” countries. Yum! I’ve also heard Ethiopia is great for vegetarian and vegan dishes. Enjoy. Thank you so, so much again! 🙏🏼👍🏼✌🏼💕

it is an epic blog... really gives that feeling of realization that comes with an open mind in journey.... also, so filled with the vibe of that place...
as for expensive hotels... there's a system of locals offering rooms to guests which is much cheaper, but, being semi-official, you have to know someone to introduce you into it. its sort of like home-staying, with your own room or hut... commonly you trade minimal comfort, for a lot of interaction with locals and authentically delicious meals.

Ethiopian people live very simple and happy. The things haven't changed for long because Ethiopians don't mind it. What is it high rise 70 story building condo and BMW if you don't have a healthy life? We all know every single person in Europe and America is dosed with some shit antipsychotic drug or have to drink alcohol or smoke weed to just socialize or live. Some people live simple life very happy stress free. Some people live luxurious life and commit suicide.
    Which one is better?
Well everybody knows what they want. But I envy Ethiopian people for the way they live. I'm going there this month and stay all winter there. And if I like it I will add next winter to it and come back on 2020....
