Holy hell. I ..crap I'm lost for words. Without a doubt one of the most disturbing stories I've ever heard. This series is frighteningly good. The author should be congratulated on creating one of the most graphic and harrowing series of stories you will find on this channel, and thats saying a hell of a lot. The team of narrators were amazing and absolutely enhanced the horror ten fold. Well done to all involved. I'm going to go back and listen to it all from the start. The Horror from the Vault takes me way back it’s been ages since I’ve heard a Horror from the Vault story. They’re always really well written in my opinion
@@TypeZeta2 I never heard of the story then I started reading the comments from this video and stopped it and went back and found one from five years ago and then three years ago and listen to both of them first. Definitely one of the scariest pasta stories I ever listened to

I can only think of a couple of possible weaknesses for this thing. The first would be the cold. Intense cold at that.The next would be chemical weapons, something potent enough to kill whatever bacteria or fungus that fills these things. Whatever was inside that vault originally.
This stuff is clever as well. Stealing all the glass it breaks...creating organic bomber planes...that's some next level shit.
I’d say cold would be the best choice, not to mention as much acid as one can muster. If it can eat/dissolve organic material, and if it isn’t fire based, use it. Gonna be a hell of a biohazard, though. Anywhere the Gestalt’s been, it’ll need to be rendered uninhabitable.

I wouldn’t bet on it. Nukes cause fires, and could potentially cause bigger ash clouds. Though long-term, it could result in degeneration and decay.

The biggest difference is that it doesn't seem to start as a disease. You can be touched by them without becoming infected. It also seems unable to grow more of itself like SCP 610 can (I think that's the right designation).

the music that starts at 35:46 always gives me chills, no matter the story. Makes me long to be able to hear the search and rescue stories again for the first time.

The monster description is absolutely horrific I love it
From having listen to all of these stories. What I can put together is this thing hit earth before and was somehow beaten back using some advanced tech or magic we don't have or it was hidden here by some alien force a long time ago.
It's weakness seem to be the cold. Even just a few degree drop that happens at night seems to do it.
The fires that where used to try and destroy it made it worst.
This thing is smart. At least as smart as "The Thing" maybe smarter. It's definitely a hive mind. It sets traps and maybe trying to learn about us threw families like what the soilder saw. Or the angler fish example isn't far off and that was meant to lure people in.
This seems to be a mix of "The Thing" and the "Dead Space Neomorphs." Though it seems to want it's victims to be living not dead. It also knows what guns are as the soilder mentioned there where broken down guns like they had been taken apart.
It also can use or digest clothing. So maybe synthetics are an issue for it. Or it needs skin to skin contact to work.
I'll be curious to see how this develops as we go on.

Wow this was so well done! God I missed this series. Not only was this an amazing story continuation, but it was done with the quality I've come to miss. It's nice hearing different fitting background ambience or music transition with the scene, mood and storyteller.
I'm also glad to see a return to the creative background visuals! They always add that extra element of suspense to the storytelling, a big difference from static title cards. Again, fantastic work. PLEASE MORE LIKE THIS!

@@msjingles1 They interlace, except for part 3 you could argue. Like, first one talks about the horror and how it should be burned, second story talks about a forest being burned and the horror surviving.

Horror From The Vault: To Grow A Garden
The problem with part 3 is that it has no ties to the previous 2 parts. It takes place MILES from the reserve the gestalt was found in. All they needed was like a mention of the fire in like a newscast, saying something like the wind is carrying some of the ash all across the nation.
Never thought I’d be lucky enough to hear an update
The sheer unexpected, unknowable, and unfathomable nature of the gestalt is what's so compelling. Every character who gives a recollection has such a vivid and visceral reaction to the gestalt, they can't process it without severe psychological distress, due to the things very nature. That's what's so horrifying I think about this. Every time I listen to this series it still hits me so hard and leaves me terrified

Good story. I always enjoy something like these world war z documentary book audios. The voices at time were a little rough. You could hear their eyes reading the words, if that makes sense, but easily overlooked and still very enjoyable. I hope there is more.

This is basically if the Pulsating Mass was real, and didn't specifically hate on an 8-year-old boy with dyslexia.
@@petercross1879 It's from a Motherlike RPG called Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass. It looks kinda innocent at first glance, but it gets dark and gross the further you go in, and is not for those with a weak constitution.
I still feel like Omori is a better game overall, but Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass isn't exactly a slouch either. There's a fair bit to it, and the story will probably tear your soul apart.
Speaking of which, I'd probably recommend going in on Easy mode, since you'll barely need to grind compared to Normal mode.

This whole story reminds me a lot of "The Flesh that hates" SCP. An assimilating mass of flesh blood and bone that has but one purpose: to feed and reproduce. A living embodiment of the animal nature, creating and eating constantly, a never ending swarm of unending death.

Different narrators just makes the story more interesting
This thing reminds me a bit of Chzo; he’s from the “X days” series by Yahtzee Crowshaw. He’s the last of a race of powerful elementals who draw their sustenance from the pain and anguish of living beings. By the time the games begin, he’s killed every other Pain Elemental in his universe and absorbed so much suffering from both them and his own feeding that he’s essentially just a massive, bloated mound of disjointed bone and tumorous flesh. He requires constant infusions of fresh agony to survive, so anyone who comes too close to the mountain that is his body gets snatched up by his servitors and tortured until they have absolutely _no_ suffering left in them, then they become part of him, so they can suffer forever as a part of his ever-growing being.
Anyone else get gas station vibes? Like in bedside manor they all had those tentacles I think connected to their heads. But then again I feel like parts of almost every story could link up to jack lol another great one thanks mr creepypasta
What if they used the metal that made up the temple the sarcophagus was found in to make like, armor or a mech? It seemed to be able to contain the source of the gestalt, maybe it can be used to kill it somehow?
