  • This series of videos is designed to get you into the FPV Drone Hobby by keeping things simple. In this episode I give you a non-exhaustive list of really good FPV Goggles for both ANALOG and DIGITAL and show the price of each. When it comes to ANALOG you can use pretty much any FPV Goggle you wish, so buy something that is within your budget. If you buy something really good, then you'll never have to buy another pair of goggles for a long time. NOTE: The FATSHARK ATTITUDE V5 Goggles come with everything you need to use them out of the box (case, battery, receiver, antennas, goggles, are all included for the price).
    FPV Goggles shown in this video are linked below:

    CORRECTION: In the video I noted that the DJI FPV Googles do not currently have prescription lenses. It does indeed appear that they now have them for very basic prescriptions. However, if you have different prescriptions per eye, I'm not sure they currently exist: store.dji.com/product/dji-fpv-goggles-corrective-lenses?vid=88761

      For most users who are actually on the fence about it there is another option. You can get the DJI goggles and use an adapter (ranges from 15-60 USD) that will let you use a module like the RapidFire Steve showed in his Fatshark's and you can use the DI for BOTH analog and digital. Tons of pilots are doing this now, and it sounds like you might be in the perfect place to go that route.

    Hi Steve great videos and information and I see you fly solo in Canada but here in the UK 🇬🇧 the rules of the CAA IS you must have a spotter with you if you fly FPV ,so we don't have much chance of enjoying this hobby by your self .

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  Před 4 lety +3

      In Canada, like the UK, the rules are called "common-sense" rules. In other words the rules are written with a spirit in mind. Remember the old adage... if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around, does it make a sound? This is how you should consider the drone rules/regulations. So in the UK and Canada it is necessary to keep the drone in view. Why is that exactly? Well, so that you don't injure anyone or damage property. So what if you fly in a location where there are no people and property that can't be damaged? Who will ever report you? No one, because there is no one around & the only person to damage is yourself. So if you are ever worried, go someplace far away from humans (out in a big field) and fly and enjoy your FPV hobby.

      I would be very interested in this subject (antennas for goggles and quads) as well. I just startet my first FPV-experience with the 4K-TinyGo-bundle from GEPRC. It‘s big fun but I would like to improve the video stability and range between goggles and quad. I‘m using 200 mW and I think the signal should be much better with better antennas ...

    Loving these videos. Im definitely getting the itch to get into this hobby , ive had a nice handful of camera drones. That being said, i have a recommendation for a super cheap beginner goggle. Awhile back i purchased the Ehang Ghostdrone 2.0 4k camera drone. One version of this drone the VR drone, which utilized a pair of fatshark style goggles. Now sadly for me my ghostdrone had bad batteries and couldnt get the drone to work sovi returned mine, but on ebay you can get the goggles brand new for roughly $30! And according to Ehangs official website these goggles work with any other drone that uses a 5.8ghz signal.

    Hi Captain, love this series, very useful for beginners. I just got the BetaFPV Cetus Pro RTF kit and unfortunately, turns out that the box goggles that comes with it look blurry to me. I don't wear glasses for reading, only for long distance, but still... Hard to use these. What Goggles do you recommend that are not too expensive for a beginner that is not sure if FPV is for me that will allow me to change the distance from my eyes, for better focus? Thanks

  • @RADERFPV
    @RADERFPV Před 4 lety +1

    Honestly, I recommend folks check out ebay and sites like that for great deals on fatsharks. A lot of folks (including myself) are getting rid of a lot of our analog gear, because we're making the switch to digital. We're letting our stuff go cheap to recoup some of the cost of going digital.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  Před 2 lety +1

      I have nothing on the V6. Analog FPV goggles just need to be powered on and then press the SCAN button to find an active channel that is sending a signal. Be careful with some FATSHARK goggles... FATSHARKs are the best, however some goggles do not come with the antenna nor the receiver, so check that in the description of whatever you are buying.

      The EV800DM are the ones with the focus option, but they were far smaller that the original 800D's. I have a cheaper set I can't personally use because of this.

    So, what do you think of the emerging selection of Augmented Reality (AR) glasses? Yea, I know the tech is still new and pricey but I think they were still worth mentioning.
    As for brands, maybe you should have pointed people in the direction of others? Eachine, Skyzone, and Flysight all have some stuff worth checking out. Not so sure about Orqa goggles, though. They're a new company that aims to compete with Fatshark in the premium range. What are your thoughts about them?
    Otherwise, good video! I forgot about box goggles. Definitely a form factor to consider when getting into this hobby.

  • @CarbonGlassMan
    @CarbonGlassMan Před 4 lety +1

    I wear glasses to read. I have the cheap Emax goggles that comes in the RTF kit. I took them apart, cut slots in the sides, then cut the ear pieces off an old pair of glasses, and installed them in the goggles. Put the goggles back together and it works pretty well. The Emax goggles are not diversity. They have 2 antennas but I took them apart and there is only 1 receiver module in them. So look out for fake diversity if diversity is what you're looking for. A lot of cheaper goggles will have 2 antennas and some companies will even lie and say they have diversity, but they don't.

      They are an excellent value. If you are considering going digital, but only a bit later then these are and excellent option. I have the non-OLED Sy02X's and those are excellent by themselves. The OLED screeen in the the Sky03O's are considered even better than the HDO2 by a few reviewers. You certainly won't go wrong. But if you are planning on a lot of high-multi-path interefernce flying (bandos, warehouses, etc) then you might want to consider a solution where you can pick your module for the best reception (RapidFire is still the best in those cases).

    • @DavidReynolds-kr6yh
      @DavidReynolds-kr6yh Před 4 lety

      Andrew Oulton , there’s a new version of the wildfire which has been released which might match rapid fire in performance and is a cheaper option. Joshua bardwell did a video on it and he couldn’t tell which one was better, they were that close. I have the 02X skyzone goggles as well and I love how quick the scanning is and how good the reception is, a friend who has a fairly high end fat shark was impressed with how far I was getting a signal from my lost quad, his fat sharks weren’t getting as good a signal. This was a quad lost over a hill slightly and at quite a distance. There’s also a module out that acts as an adapter so that you can fit a rapid fire or other receiver on your skyzone goggles, still be a cheaper option than buying fat sharks and get the best of all worlds.

      @Andrew_O Před 4 lety +1

      @@DavidReynolds-kr6yh I saw the videos on teh WildFire, and it is close, but I could still see the RapidFire winning in all of the reviews. Now is it WORTH it? I'd say only to the most hardcore user in the first place. On those grounds I wouldn't even bother with adding a module to the Skyzone's as close as those also are to "Unicorn Magic" as JB & others put it. I'd far sooner go DJI and put an analog module on it using one of the integrated face-plate replacement units out there :)
