    I'm possibly gonna get the MTK 12 for my new set-up as i'm currently using my Xone 4D as my mixer... I'm new to the production world so not too sure on the various lingo, but i've read on various websites and forums online that the MTK 12 can't record the sound from it into the DAW with the onboard effects/EQ's applied... AS far as i can see, that would make the EQ's/effects redundant as i can't record them into Ableton... Is that right or have i got that wrong!!?!? This is the only reason why i haven't bought it yet, so an answer from someone would be great. Cheers

      @@richardjames111 I think that the ad/da converters on this are located after the preamp and before the eq section, so after the preamp (before eq) the signal goes to your pc and it returns there just before the eq, so you dont record eq for seperate channels but you can record the stereo mix that has been effected by eq. A way to do it is to take an after fader (afl) aux out and return it to a different channel and record that (so you have your eq and faders recorded) but you are limited to 5 channels or 3 if you are also using the built in effects, also you can use that way the groups to have 2 more stereo in this occassion (or 4 mono by using the pan pot hard left for ch 1 hard right for 2... left for 3, right for 4). So you can record 7 processed channels with fx or 9 without by using 14 or 18 channels and 7or 9 cables. If you already have this console try it or tell me if you find other ways around. I also think to buy one, for my home studio and maybe a live sometimes

    • @BkuBrown
      @BkuBrown Před rokem +1

      Its an analogue mixing desk. The idea is for you to use the mixing desk to mix your tracks to one stereo file. You have to ask why would you want to use a mixer to return individual tracks? Do you want to mix digitally? (Get a Tascam 12) or do you want a warm analogue mix?

    • @autodidacticprofessor869
      @autodidacticprofessor869 Před 5 lety +2

      Just plug your outboard into the line input. I use Audient preamps for the first 8 channels on mine and sometimes plug in transformer-based preamps for microphones that need them. The stock preamps are not bad at all for most things but their line amps are very clean.

    • @autodidacticprofessor869
      @autodidacticprofessor869 Před 5 lety +3

      It's by design. Analog signals = -18dbfs. That means the "0" on an analog meter is 18 decibels below digital maximum. In order to safeguard against people crushing the input and clipping the converters, is to send a line-level signal via USB return. Just boost it up with plugins.

    • @calebkey2050
      @calebkey2050 Před 3 lety +2

      Unfortunately not. What you’re after is a midi controller mixer. They look like mixers, but they’re really just big midi controllers meant to do exactly what you describe
      This board is meant more for traditional analog mixing, but using a DAW in place of a tape machine. You do the actual mix outboard, and then re-record the finished mix back into the DAW when you’re done
      Hope that helped!

      I think a few people had issues with the power supply on the earlier models.
      A freind of mine blew the mic preamp on the first channel by unplugging a dynamic mic whilst fantom power was switched on.
      I don't think it has individual phantom power for each channel with a mic input. Might be wrong. Though.
      The eqs are sweet though. Especially on the first couple of channels that have an option of engaging a dbx compressor.
      I tested my desk by playing with overdriving sources into the limiters. Sounded awesome

    • @timbeaton5045
      @timbeaton5045 Před 5 lety +1

      Well, there are a number of good mixers out there. I bought an Allen&Heath QU-16 from Andertons a while back, which is a digital desk, with flying faders. Been absolutely great so far. But of course more than twice the price of this. Probably the most important question is...What do you want to do with the mixer? Home recording? Live use? Both?
      Do you need the desk to have a multiple input/outputs to a DAW? (This certainly does, and seems to be a feature of many desks out there, these days). Something like this at this price, given it is effectively a 24 in /22 out USB audio interface, does make one wonder why one would buy a standalone interface, given you sort of get a mixer thrown info "free".
      Admittedly, standalone interfaces will probably give you "better" sound quality, and possibly more variations on how to sync with other gear. But looks like a bargain to me!
      And to be perfectly honest if it will give you clean audio at 44.1 Khz (and/or 48 KHz if you do video) at 16 bit or above...
      {Just checked. does 48K at 24 bit. Plenty for home, and to be frank, most uses!}
      Not really answering your question, but would be good to know exactly what you require a mixer for!

    • @timbeaton5045
      @timbeaton5045 Před 5 lety

      Hi Jonny, again. Just had a look at the Presonus. Smaller, fewer channels, cheaper yes, but would the extra channels on the Soundcratf be useful/necessary for you?
      Also, as i allied to, i personally wouldn't worry about the 96KHz option on the Presonus. Someone will be bound to jump in and say it;s better, but specs be damned. The soundcraft
      will be fine.
      Out of the two, this one is the one i would go for, at the price. Soundcraft gear in my experience is always damned good for the money.
      But best to draw up a list of what you NEED, then a list of what you would LIKE, then a list of what you think MIGHT be useful in the future. There are plenty of amazing desks out there in this price bracket. But from what i can see, this would do the job, fine.

Your reviews are the best out there but this is rubbish and needs to be done again.
