  • Join me on this short EuroTraveller flight on board British Airways from Heathrow down to Gibraltar. I've reviewed the flight taken in May 2022 from London to Gibraltar. Let me know what you think of the review in the comments.
    If you like this flight review, check out my blog articles at www.travelwithc...
    Flight Details
    Route: London Heathrow (LHR) to Gibraltar (GIB)
    Airline: British Airways
    Flight: BA429
    Aircraft: Airbus A320 (G-MIDO)
    Seat: 21A
    Cabin Class: Euro Traveler (Economy)
    Scheduled Departure: 1 May 2022 @ 7:10. Actual Departure @ 7:25
    Scheduled Arrival: 1 May 2022 @ 11:05. Actual landing @ 10:45
    Duration: 2:55 scheduled, 2:21 actual.
    Overall the flight was pretty good for an economy service, notably because of the good pre departure lounge experience. I think the buy on board menu also helped make the flight more enjoyable and made the journey fly by as I ate my way across Spain. I would have liked to use the WiFi to stream some shows but writing this blog post was just as enjoyable. The approach and landing into Gibraltar was spectacular for those, like me, who are seated on the left hand side of the aircraft making it a must do flight for any true aviation geek. I’ll post a blog on my amazing day in Gibraltar soon but this brings us to the end of this flight review.
    This trip report Video review was filmed in 4K on GoPro Hero 10.

    It’s been almost two years since I’ve been but I can still remember like it was yesterday. What a place it is.

    Your narration, at least on this video not sure about others, is a bit quiet. I think the video would be that much better if you turned it up a bit. Otherwise, really cool review! Haven’t been to London in a while.

      Agree, on this one the audio messed up in the upload to CZcams somehow. Apologies for that. My latest video the audio seems to be back to being ok again. Hope you enjoy that one too. Thanks for the comment.

    Video randomly came up in my suggested despite being over a year ago.
    Couple of things. Sitting on the left hand side of the aircraft is not the best side when flying into Gibraltar. You want the right hand side of the aircraft. Because there is a chance you will come in on runway 09 which circles around the back of the rock coming in the opposite way you did on this video. This gives absolutely spectacular views. So when TO Gibraltar, book the right hand side. When flying FROM Gibraltar, book the left hand side. Of course it depends on the wind direction of the day. But even if its not favorable for that approach you still get a great view of the Spanish coastline and and as you come over Marbella you can spot the rock in the distance knowing youre nearly there!
    Since you visited Gibraltar, they have now opened the Kingsway tunnel, meaning that cars no longer cross the runway, the go round and underneath it. You can still walk and cycle across it though. But they've put up huge gates securing the airfield off.

    It is such a long jet bridge at boarding, perhaps the longest I ever saw. 😄 Excellent report, well done. Also I am impressed by the high hill adjacent to runway during landing, which I became aware of from 007 movie.

    Great work Carl, it was great to see another lounge option at T3. With you being a OWA Emerald though, be sure to check out the Cathay Pacific lounges. Just be sure to select a seat forward of row 12 on the short haul fleet also to avoid those awful seats on the newer aircraft further back, sadly a hangover from the Alex Cruz years!

      I visited the Cathay Lounge on my way home to Australia - I much preferred the view and offerings there, even if the first lounge is a little smaller. Great tip for the seat selection on BA - will keep in mind for future trips. :)

    Great video, I'm flying from Glasgow to Gibraltar via Heathrow in October with BA to get married out there.
    It's my kids first time flying as well so exciting times, just hope our flights as smooth as urs when coming into land cos I've heard a few stories that Gib airport can be a bit hairy at times 😂

    You reminded me to book a flight to Gibraltar at some stage! Wow that approach is nice!
    Also looking forward to the strong braking on the short runway.
    I wish you much success!

      Thanks so much. Gibraltar was a lot of fun off the airport too. I recommend taking the gondola to the top and walking down. Stunning views of the airport and surrounds from the rock. Hope you enjoy Gibraltar

    I like this flight when I fly from the States back here to Gib. I always upgrade to business class on this leg especially because I'm so wore out by the time I leave LHR. I will have to say this is one aircraft I have not seen land or depart here at Gib with the equipment letters. I have several subscribers who have requested me filming their planes as it lands in Gib. It's quite fun actually!!! cheers!

      @travelwithcarl_au  Před 2 lety +1

      I think after a longer flight the upgrade would be good, it’s just so disappointing that all carriers in Europe have euro business class seating.

    • @MinistryofFlightGibraltar
      @MinistryofFlightGibraltar Před 2 lety

      @@travelwithcarl_au I do agree with you, the first class seats are sub par. No extra room other than a blocked out middle seat.

    I had a Club Europe seat as a part of my Finnair booking. I was glad I had it as the flight was completely full but I dont think i could justify the price if I had paid cash. Excellent trip report, Carl.

    Gibraltar is NOT part of the UK. It is a 'Self-governing British Overseas Territory'. It is not subject to UK Law.

    Do you go through border control unlike a domestic flight?

    • @travelwithcarl_au
      @travelwithcarl_au  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes you go through border control/immigration on arrival at Gibraltar Airport. A quick stamp and I was in :)

    • @onlineamiga
      @onlineamiga Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yes, despite being an overseas territory of the UK. Gibraltar has its own government, and as such its own immigration. Those who require a visa for the UK, also require a seperate visa for Gibraltar. It's also outside of the EU for customs purposes so when flying back from Gibraltar you're limited as to what you can bring back. So contrary to belief, Gibraltar is an international flight despite it being UK to UK.

      I bought a GoPro Hero 10 a little while ago and used it to do all the filming, except for the loo review. I feel strange walking into a toilet with a camera (I feel there is another platform for that kind of content) so filmed that part on my mobile. I should get some tips for you for future filming.

      @@travelwithcarl_au Thanks Carl, I found what you did very engaging and loved the way you speed up certain parts of the film to break up the time. sound is an issue with in the editing with the music being louder than your commentary. Sound is aways an issue on film so something that can be easily rectified. Body cam is so cool as you get the reactions of everyone around and it's very natural. Looking forward to the next exciting episode.

      Thanks. I don't know what happened with the audio either. Will work on that for next time. I've got about 10 more flights worth of footage to edit, so hopefully adding new content over the coming weeks (or months).

  • @Stingerca
    @Stingerca Před rokem

    Might be a good video. Had to stop. The music was too loud and the talking was too quiet. It is a common production issue.
