  • This is shot from the cockpit of an Bombardier Global 7000, circling the Rock of Gibraltar and landing from West to East. Fantastic view of the approach, and the Straights Of Gibraltar. #Gibraltar #global7000 #Bombardier
    I find it best to fast forward slightly to get to where the Jet starts to bank around the rock to line up with the runway.

    My home for three years 1988-1991. Used to work in the ATC when it was all RAF. Did my stint on the Bird Control Unit, and can say with some pride that I never had a bird strike on my watch. Thanks for the video, nice to see the old place again.

    My Dad landed his B17 there in 1942 with General Eisenhower on board- at night in a storm. I think it took him 3 times to get down -he talked about it from time to time remembering the ominous 'rock'.

      My father was also a commercial pilot and had the chance to take the president of Honduras to México city on a diplomatic visit in 1967 on a dc-7...he recorded part of the ceremony on a super 8 motion camera

    My father was there often being aboard Royal Navy warships escorting convoys to Malta . Fortunately although torpedoed off N. Africa they made it back to Gib. 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

    Landed in Gib in a Vickers VC10 ( British Airways) 1976 ...pilot told the flight to brace for a short landing....Dad was on NATO for the Royal Navy.... i was only a kid but remember it all

    Made a number of Med cruises from 70-74 aboard USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42) and I always loved seeing that rock. Sure has changed from when I was there though...that's progress.

    I did that approach several times in a 206 Sqdn. Shackleton, in the 60's...the it was hit the beach and the English-type bars in Gib!

    I always am amazed that you can drive across the runway in a bus!! There is an actual public road that crosses the main runway

      You can drive across in a bus, taxi, car, you can cycle across or even walk - but you mustn't cross on a red light!

      You can no longer drive across the runway. The tunnel is open.

      You can walk across the runway, I got married there and one night walked into la linea (spain) to get a kebab and walked back I to Gibraltar again 😂, I thought this was flight sim to begin with

      @@j777barbasiewicz The new tunnel opened in April .. Personally I dislike it. takes away from Gib. And its shifting completely what area of gib is becoming important. Lots of new building going on the East coast now.

    Superb smooth landing, no bumping up and down, crew extremely calm and very British by the sound of them after landing. Can we have more of these posts please, extremely interesting. Would have liked to see shot of plane (after landing) of course❤❤❤

    Rode across the runway in a taxi back around 2010, I think it was. There was a cool taxi driver from England driving, and we went on up to visit the monkeys. Thanks for stirring up the memory.

    Spent many an hour with my nose through the chain link fence watching take offs and landings from the Eastern end, RAF Gibraltar/North Front 1966/69 Great days!

    A great sight approaching "the Rock" and seeing what appears to be smoke coming from the top (actually cloud that hangs over the peak) A litle bit of Britain in a foreign land mass. Of such importance in WW2 as well.

    Great video, nice and clear. Like the sound of the gear going down. Have tried to land an A320 here a few times on X-Plane 11. Only managed it once!

      The Pilots have always told me its not the landing in Gibraltar thats a problem, its the birds.

      @@angrymonkeyoverlanding7120 I have flown there on a number of occasions in a PC-12. The swirling winds, turbulence and wind-shear as you pass the rock are not particularly pleasant in smaller aircraft.

    Those clouds so low, not much above those ships really. Stunning view, the rock almost looks like it’s in ms flight sim, surreal.

      ok ive watched this a couple of times....and the flight over the water looks sort of ok...but when the Bombardier lands...well, its has all of the indications of a SIM.....just watch the people and the colour/shadows...and human movement...robotic....?

      @@billhicks2001 Depends on what you're smoking but I would say the framerate is low and it gives them that jerky appearance. Definitely real.

      @@billhicks2001 a few things to point out, when the global lands , you can see the pilots arm in the reflection of the window, and the other dead give away its not a sim is the Jaguar that's sitting boot open in front of the BA flight. That car is reserved for members of Parliament who are at that time representative of the Queen. Hence the security detail. Only people like me who lived there for 4 years would know such a thing. And I fail to see how you think the people are walking robotically cars and scooters moving at normal pace to me . They haul ass across the runway as they are pissed they just had to wait 20 minutes for a rich person to land.

      Absolutely. It has seven beaches round the island. Sadly they’ve just pulled down our favourite hotel. You can walk round the outskirts in a few hours. Then get the bus back from Europa point

      Lay out of the cockpit I suspect, it’s cramped up there and they Basiclly have limited space and stick things to the sides
      Plus fairly sure obstructing a forward window with any thing is bad practice

      You should knows whos plane this was, and know why the model is not accurate in the description. Notoriously private owner. On this plane countless times with your husband piloting. Posting tail numbers also a huge no no.

      As far as my experience flying private into GIB. No. As we crossed over spanish airspace coming over from the US. I have been told GIB is Visual approach only can not land via instruments.

    Turning onto finals at 300ft. Thats a short final. Is that common for non-commercials at GIB?

      Yes. and wind shear is terrible also . And the entire rock is a bird sanctuary.

      No, Cockpit means its shot from the "cockpit" where there are 4 windows 2 forward and 2 to the side. Go look at a photo of an Embraer Global and its kind of obvious that pilots can see 9-3 not a myopic 11-1.

      @@Tidybitz I was stunned that watching videos of MSFS reviews, the sim is now so good it looks real. When this video opens, everything is so crystal, it almost looks like a sim :)

      Planes land in both directions ... as the wind changes direction . I would have thought that was obvious. and search for other videos. and road crossing is right in the middle of the video !

      Actually a older Global express. Not to many globals in Gib when I posted the video, so the model listed in the description not entirely accurate. And that was done on purpose as the owner who is a former employer hated postings of any thing related to his plane.

      With all due respect, it's from the copilots right window. and the Pilot's wife has chatted here, on top of that look at the reflection of the plane in the windows pulling up to the gate. If you knew anything about private planes AFT of the cockpit puts you over the wing, as the plane only seats 11.

      The pilots wife has posted on this thread. its not a sim. reply to me privately and ill share photos of the plane on the ground in GIB. and if you look at some of my other posts you will see many time lapse from gib, and the Med steps in 360...

      The only thing not accurate is the model of the plane, and that was done at the time to meet the owners rules about posting where his plane was. speak privately and I will give you the tail number as the plane is no longer owned by him and I am not in his employee. Then flightradar will give you every time that plane was in GIB. This was all pre-covid.
