STORYLINE:
The Israeli army ordered some 100,000 Palestinians on Monday to begin evacuating from the southern city of Rafah in Gaza, signaling that a long-promised ground invasion there could be imminent and further complicating efforts to broker a cease-fire.
The looming operation in Rafah - where more than 1 million Palestinians are sheltering and a high number of deaths is feared - has raised global alarm and Israeli’s closest allies have warned against it.
People leaving Rafah packed their belongings then loaded them onto vehicles and donkey carts to start their trip out of the area.
Many were filled with concern and had no idea where they should go next.
Israel has described Rafah as the last significant Hamas stronghold after some seven months of war, and has repeatedly said the invasion is necessary to defeat the Islamic militant group, which unleashed the current conflict with an attack on Israel on Oct. 7.
In Rafah, people received flyers Monday morning in Arabic detailing which neighborhood blocks needed to leave and said that aid services would be provided in other cities.
Palestinians in Rafah said people gathered to discuss their options after receiving the flyers.
Israel’s army said on the social platform X it would act with “extreme force” against militants, and urged the population to evacuate immediately for their safety.
About 1.4 million Palestinians - more than half of Gaza’s population - are jammed into Rafah and its surroundings.
Most of them fled their homes elsewhere in the territory to escape Israel’s onslaught and now face another wrenching move or the danger of staying under a new assault.
They live in densely packed tent camps, overflowing U.N. shelters or crowded apartments, and are dependent on international aid for food, with sanitation systems and medical facilities infrastructure crippled.

Hamas only has control over their government. Israel has controlled Gaza's borders and access for foods, medicine and goods. Also controlled the electric service, (given only a few hours a day), airspace and maritime; long years before Hamas took power from Fatah. So, with no to little electricity meant no vacation hot spots or tourism in Gaza.
Gaza was better off with Fatah, which is a secular government than Hamas, a right wing and religious government. Seems people are still having to learn how mixing any religion with government always fails.
PS Gaza was never wealthy.
Before they started this war Gazans had a lifestyle and standard of living that millions across the world would envy.
They had thousands of shops selling an abundance of lovely foods.

But their hatred for Israel boiled over on October the seventh with that horrific attack and act of war.
God swore to Abram and his descendants,

What Hamas did was despicable. Their right wing government mixed with religious beliefs gave them excuses to attack.
Believing in a Creator who gives permission to murder, pillage, and do all the atrocities wars bring is because of religions. Not the Creator, whom doesn't give a hoot about man-made religions.

As I wrote in a previous comment, Israel controlled most everything in Gaza. So it is hard to build an infrastructure and strong economy when people in Gaza were living in an area as if it was a prison.
As long as their zealous religions, egos, right wing politicians and governments mix within the Middle Eastern countries they will continue to be at odds, (at best), and at worse be warring.
It is all unfortunate yet completely avoidable. Meanwhile, it is the civilians who suffer at their hands. Including those who's been brainwashed by zealous religions.
I'm not against religion. To each their own. But I am against mixing religion and politics. It is why people left Europe. To sever the rulership, control and religions forced upon people, always subject to change, (Catholic one day, non Catholic the next), and all the bloodshed it caused.
