    Fun fact: Max's Old Stuffed Bear in this movie, which was in neither A Goofy Movie nor Goof Troop, was actually a continuity reference to Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas, as that anthology Christmas special had a segment with Goofy and a much younger Max that was set before Goof Troop, and in which Old Stuffed Bear first appeared. The bear's appearance here makes everything all tie together in a full chronology of Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas --> Goof Troop --> A Goofy Movie --> An Extremely Goofy Movie.
    And if one wants to include it, the animated TV series House of Mouse can then come after this movie too since it also features Goofy and Max both working jobs, and even Roxanne returns as Max's girlfriend in one episode (she and Max must has reunited and gotten back together after the second movie). Someone at Disney at the time must have really wanted to see Max grow as a child into an adult across these different shows and movies.
    Though, there is also another Christmas anthology special, Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas... but it doesn't really fit with the rest of everything above and kind of ignores all of the relationship growth Max has had with Goofy, regressing Max all the way back to disliking his father. (And it's CGI animation instead of hand-drawn, and not the good-looking kind of CGI.) So it doesn't need to be included.

    This movie did "rescuing the enemy even tho you might lose" better than Cars did. It also did it BEFORE Cars did

    • @firemiracle
      @firemiracle Před 2 lety +2

      And it also did a great job in giving Bradley consequences for his actions. Meanwhile chick from cars got off the hook way too easily, like he freaking almost killed king just to win that a race and yet his consequences aren't enough 😒

    I always grew up watching this one more than Goofy Movie. It still holds up for me plus I absolutely love the soundtrack including Cleopatra’s version of “Right Back Where We Started From” which is a million times better than the original version. What is weird is that when this film would air on Disney Channel they would cut out the segment of Max and Goofy rescuing Tank from the flaming X.

    • @TServo2049
      @TServo2049 Před 3 lety +3

      Actually, I know exactly why that was cut. It was because of the early-00s trend of “edit anything that involves buildings or large objects getting destroyed or damaged in any way that might remind someone somewhere of 9/11”.
      That kind of stuff was done on a lot of TV networks at the time, but especially on any Disney channels. I know they stopped rerunning the TaleSpin episode where Baloo is tricked into delivering a bomb because of similar worries. (I believe it also resulted in some hamfisted editing to repeats of Power Rangers on ABC Family; anybody remember that for sure?)

    • @DeepDiveDisney
      @DeepDiveDisney  Před 3 lety +4

      Ah that makes a lot of sense. I was working for Nickelodeon the year after the attacks and remember having to scramble because an episode we were set to air (I can’t remember what show it was) on 9/11/02 had a space shuttle explosion either in it, or mentioned and management felt it was too much for us to air on the anniversary so we pulled it.

    One thing I don't like about this movie is not the fact that Max and Roxanne aren't together but the fact that she's not even at least mentioned . They could've had a throw away line saying " oh things didn't work out between us " . Then again that would've been even worse considering the fact that in the first movie Max was working so damn hard by gaining the courage to ask Roxanne out .

    4:36-13:50, Technically @Deep Dive Disney/Eric, Max has been the parking valet for the House of Mouse while at the age of 18-19 in the series that started in 2001 through recurring minor roles, also he did have his big date with Roxanne @ the House of Mouse in around 2002 or so and with her entitled on his Google page as his significant other which most likely reveals that his job at the club and date their with her takes place after this, keeping that in mind usually helps so that I don't get too attached or hung up in misery.

  • @synchronizerman
    @synchronizerman Před 3 lety +6

    re: Roxanne. They kind of retconned a lot of stuff from the first movie including some of the character development, and removed Roxanne, so idk, I much prefer leaving the first movie alone.

    • @TheBlackAntagonist
      @TheBlackAntagonist Před 2 lety

      I wouldn't call it a retcon for the character dev so much as Max being an angst teen and Goofy just going through it.

    • @MajorLawliet
      @MajorLawliet Před 2 lety

      Don't really consider it a retcon. Between Max in the first movie and going to college, that's a few years and a lot of time for a lot to happen.
      Plus, Max learning to appreciate his dad doesn't discount him from being fed up with him being around too much. You don't need to hate or dislike or even be neutral to someone to WANT to have some personal space and your own life. Goofy accepted that Max is grown up, but like he said in the river, Max will always be his son. And even if he understands him better, it doesn't mean he will necessarily stop being just as chummy with him.

    • @synchronizerman
      @synchronizerman Před 2 lety

      @@MajorLawliet Isn’t he graduating from high school in the first movie? That’s less than one year. Maybe 4 months.

    • @MajorLawliet
      @MajorLawliet Před 2 lety

      @@synchronizerman I don't remember any graduation from high school, what I remember was it being the last day before summer break.
      Not to mention everywhere I look, the assumed supposed age of Max and Roxanne is 14. He and his friends also look a lot younger for something supposedly happening not even a year beforehand, and I really doubt it has anything to do with different animation.

    • @synchronizerman
      @synchronizerman Před 2 lety

      @@MajorLawliet Then I guess it’s just my opinion that the second movie somehow cheapens the story arc. I prefer the first movie for sure, but it’s alright.

    This is a rare film I haven't seen! It seems like a direct to video, but a decent one thankfully. Yes the universal video was fun! I love videos of people going to theme parks and getting/buying/eating the various food for sale! :D And you two were adorable! I think review videos would be a fun one, since eventually you will run out of ones you haven't seen. Ones you've only seen once, like back in theatres or ages ago would be a good option. Perhaps going in order from the Disney yearly animated release could be a future option. Maybe started from the golden age that began with the Little Mermaid? That always marked a big shift in Disney movies, quality wise, at least for me lol. Lots of options for sure!
