- Today we are tracking down Home Alone filming locations in and around Chicago, Illinois. Can you believe it’s the 30th anniversary of Home Alone?! We sure can’t! We are so thrilled to finally see the Home Alone house in person - probably one of the most famous movie locations around (and technically in Winnetka). We loved seeing all of the iconic Chicago area locations where Home Alone was filmed and are super excited because we have even more filming locations videos in the works. I had friends who lived near The Home Alone House and every Christmas Season I went up to Winnetka to visit them for dinner which was a tradition for us and afterwards after opening presents we would drive around the area looking at the Christmas Lights on houses and go by The Home Alone House. I've been by it at least over 20 times I love the movie so much.

One of the best filming locations videos I’ve seen for Home Alone! One of my favorite movies along with Tommy Boy!
Love Home Alone. Definitely part of my childhood and still to this day, a Christmas tradition to watch. And I still bust out laughing my ... off:) Home Alone and Christmas Vacation are my favorite Christmas movies. And that house was the best part of the movie.

You did a good job in setting up your shots to be just about the same spot as in the movie. We're so close to the bench in Forrest Gump in Savanah, GA that I can't believe I haven't gone to it yet. I love Forrest Gump. We did see the "Carmichael Plantation" from Sweet Home Alabama. It's the Oak Hill Berry Museum in Rome, GA. But I'd have to say I would want to see the house on Full House! -Jessica
We actually have seen the Full House house. I believe it's in better shape now than when we saw it 3 years ago. They were talking about tearing it down then. Now it's been redone and just sold.

It's funny, I visited the house year after year. The last time I saw the garage at the house, it was completely different. Meaning, it appeared that they removed the brick exterior, and added a vinyl siding to it (did not look good at all), and now they removed the whole thing, weird. Anyway, good job filming this -- it was a good watch!
Oh interesting! It seems like everything they do is just to make the house look different than the movie, but I can't blame them for that. Thanks for watching!

This was an amazing film location tour. We love Home alone and even visited a couple of weeks ago. Love to see how other people filmed this. My favorite part was the dissolve you did when kevin ran away from the pharmacy. Past to Present shot. New sub to your channel. Other videos I've seen that got access to the house, the right hand side of the building at the back where its all glass windows now, that was temporarily fake bricked up to look like the extention where the kitchen was, the basement stairs were also dug in the ground, these were put in for the movie. Always good to see the house

We traveled to San Francisco and took a visit to the full house 🏠 was pretty cool. Then went to see the Golden gate Bridge
So cool! We visited the full house house when we were last in San Fran also. At the time it was empty and about to be demolished, but I think they ended up saving and remodeling it in the last couple years. 😃

Yes! We saw the high school when we were there, but didn't have enough time to see the other locations.

I grew up on the next block and this place was on my paper route. No circular driveway in 1961 and it appears they have removed it now due to the installation of that wrought-iron fence

The gazebo in Hubbard Woods Park was actually torn down not that long ago - maybe 2014-2015? I remember there was a bit of community frustration about it but it didn't make much of a difference. Also I went to a showing of Home Alone where they had a meet-and-greet with some of the people involved and I got to meet the actress who played the pharmacy clerk and the actress who played the grocery store cashier. They were so nice!

We went into the ice cream shop the last time. The time before, it was a Panera. 🤦♀️😄 I'll take the ice cream shop, but I do wish it was still a pharmacy. The gazebo was still there when the Panera was. I think that was about 2010.
It has been 30 years since the first movie came out and I see it on TV every year FYI I would love to see where they filmed both of The Ghostbusters movies and I can't wait for the third.
We're talking about maybe doing the Ghostbusters locations next year!
my ultimate movie house is the Bank's house in Father of the Bride
That side extension on the house was there in 1990 but the bricked it so it looked like part of the house and also the staircase to the basement wasn't real but they dug a hole to make it realistic

According to the DVD the ice rink at the park wasn't real, it was a set piece. And the house interiors where sets, built in the gym at the same school where they filmed The Breakfast Club.

The stairs leading to the cellar were not real. It was a staged part of the house added in for the film. Other parts of the house were also added for the film 👍🏽

I’ve got lucky enough to go to the Houston before they destroyed everything. Garage was still there too. It was a sight to see. The drive way hot being there no more sucks tho. It was when I went. I believe it was 2010 or 2011 when I went.
Oh that's neat that it still looked much the same when you went. It seems that the owners are trying to distinctly make it look less and less like it did in the movie, which I can't blame them for.
@@TheMagicGeekdom the owners that live there when I went we’re cool as hell. They were older. But they would let people go in the hoist and take a look. Sadly I didn’t cause I got there super late it was barely daylight.

The side extension of the house did appear in the movie but apparently it was added a fake brick wall to cover it. So in the movie it didn't appear as how u saw it in real life. The outdoor staircase entrance to the basement was also added for the movie, it doesn't exist in real life.

The airport scene was filmed in terminal 3, your stock footage is of terminal 1. Terminal 3 looks pretty much the same as it did in the movie.
