- CRUISE TIP #25 DO YOU NEED TO BOOK ENTERTAINMENT AHEAD OF TIME.
Many cruise lines have entertainment on a first come first served basis. However if you go on some of the mega cruise ships you will need to make a reservation once on the ship otherwise it may be full or you have to wait in the standby line for any remaining seats.
Another reason to sail on older smaller ships
My sentiment entirely! But I accept "each to his own" (or her own).
The need to do this is the main reason i favor the smaller ships.
Pay your money and take your choice.
Just my type of vacation.
I can't see myself making a reservations so far in advance.
No way.
When vacationing, I don’t want to have to plan everything ahead of time. So, I will stick with the smaller, older ships so I can feel free to enjoy my day and evening the way I choose, at my own pace. On my last cruise, I didn’t even like having to reserve my diner reservations for the entire cruise on the first day. In the past I made my dining choices after reviewing the menu of the day. Flexibility is my new favorite word.
I am in total agreement.
Older ships don't have to make reservations for entertainment. Hard to decide what to do sometimes.
I love Princess. I just go to theater early and I sit where I like.
Good tip. I had no idea that a reservation was needed. I always cruise on the smaller ships.
If they're going to make these mega ships, they need to make mega theaters too....lol.....
Good video for those on Royal Oasis Class!! If the show gets cancelled and rescheduled another day, it really messes up your shows!! The comedy show is the smallest venue and fills up fast!!!
I think that’s one of our biggest takeaways from our last cruise. We enjoy some spontaneity, but if we didn’t make reservations weeks to months in advance form some things, we were locked out. Needing to get onboard and immediately start booking reservations for entertainment that couldn’t be booked before boarding created stress rather than relaxation.
We have one last cruise booked, and it’s only because we’ve never done the New England/Canada cruise, which has been one we’ve wanted to do for some time. After that cruise I doubt we book another. Cruising has become to crowded and to competitive with other passengers to book shore excursions, restaurant and entertainment reservations.
I agree with other posters, I do not think I would like having to make a reservation to watch a show....medium to smaller ships are the way to go...just walk in find a nice seat and watch what you want....
This why I want smaller ships. Who knows what you might want to do that evening, maybe the show you booked but maybe you're not feeling that great and now you missed the show and can't get other reservations
I agree and like the ability to book early before you even get on the ship. This ensures I know what is happening and when.
As a platinum cruiser with Carnival, the prices of cruises today are outrageous.
We learned the hard way, our first cruise we wound up in the standby line a couple times. Now we book every thing before we got onboard.
I have never reserved a show time, but go early if I want to see it. On Princess Plus Premier it is cook that reserve seats for you up to a little before show time. Thanks Don
Group cruising with Don the only seat needed to reserve is in the front because that’s where we find him most of the time. No reservations needed
Always be aware of the 'rules' of the cruise line/ship you're going on to make the most of your trip and avoid unwelcome surprises.
Exactly as soon as you get onboard make your reservations and if possible book early.
It does take away from the ability to be totally spontaneous. It’s worth it to plan a little to get into the show though.
Love Princess no reservations in advance needed!
And everything is so app related nowadays. If you don't have a cell phone, you're completely lost!
I’m surprised the cruise lines haven’t figured out a way to charge people for guaranteed reserved seating yet.
I bet it's coming.
Booking anything I could not book online is the first thing I do onboard, before even doing my muster. If needed, my wife and I split up, one takes entertainment and the other fixes any food reservation issues. Last cruise I was on, we did those things, mustered, then had dinner and sailaway before we ever went to our cabin for the first time.
Oh my, I have to go to the room first to drop off all the stuff I'm hand carrying on.
That sounds unpleasant and an endorsement for smaller ships.
Good Tip and yes people need to Book early cause as others have said these venues do fill up quickly.
Good Morning and Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦 🎆
The good tip thank you
Shows fill up quickly and you should always be on your toes - especially if you haven't been on that cruise ship before.
Good to know
So true. They fill up quickly.
Thank you for the information
Keep up the good work!
Great tip Don
Good tip
I don’t know why they make small venues for popular shows on the big ships
If you make a last minute booking your out of luck because the shows might be all booked
You’re
Check the itinerary at the theater marquee after your muster drill so you don’t miss out.
one quarter through your tips
We book when it's available.
Some time you have to make reservations before you get on the ship
Hi Don have a great day
That is what can happen but we arrive early
I'd add to know the rules for the reservation. Many will open the stand-by line 5 minutes before the show so if you have a reservation you need to be there at least 5 minutes before.
Don, could you list which one's do require a reservation
they do fill-up fast
It's not only what cruise line, but what ship.
How far out to your cruise will the reservations open for Royal Caribbean?
Is it just the newer, large ships that require reservations? Or is by cruise line or something?
If I say I have reservations, doesn't that mean that I'm not sure I want to go?
You may have to sit in the back or split up your group
Carnival Sunrise? Reservations needed?
No reservations for entertainment are available on any Carnival ship. Just show up when ready.
Just got back off Harmony, don’t worry if you don’t make RSVP , just get to the standby line in time to get in , make friends while onboard and save seats for your buddies
You can’t save seats.
@@Wellch I’m h lots to be f people do and did but only til they let in the non rsvp group
