Recovering A Jeep In The Middle Of Nowhere

- Went along with Matt's Off-road Recovery to get a Jeep out of an area in Canyonlands called 'The Dollhouse Trail'. Couldn't pick the jeep up and carry it out due to the factory plastic front bumper, so we pulled it out with a strap. Was a very long day for me and I had way less driving then Matt and his crew had to do. The reason for the jeep being stranded was a starter failure, being a brand new vehicle Jeep prefers it be towed to a dealership to be repaired instead of on trail repair. I was just along for assistance and map reading. Thanks everyone for watching and supporting us.

I swear Rory has six eyes on his head. Really good at spotting the crawl for both vehicles. The fact that he brought extra fuel for Matt is hilarious!🤣
Why Matt called him spider man.
"Your pretty paint makes my rust look bad." Form follows function. Rory always gets it done.
What rust? I see a very capable and well equipped truck. No rust in sight
Hopefully, when Matt gets his off-road tow truck built, we'll still get these crossover videos with the Morrvair and Trail Mater.
Who else is going to pull Matt out? :)
There will be work for Rory the rest of his days became if you weren’t born there you want get in or out of there.
trail mater isnt the reason Rory kicks asz Roroy is the reason trail mater is epic it will take more than that to replace what Rory can do
Well, *someone* needs to bring Matt gas when he forgets to fill up his tank AGAIN...
I would suspect they will. These cross promotion deals helps them with viewership and makes the trip more entertaining for them too.
Funny how this tow was shopped around and kept coming back to you Rory 🤔😂
You all make a great team and the comedy show is a free bonus 🤣
👍👍
Seriously how many guys have a purpose built rig, knowledge of the area, decades of experience, have experienced with parks depts and one more major, major advantage- if he can’t do it, he can get the right help.
@Jim Shoe I'm sure most looked at the 'where and HOW long?' and said, "Let me get back to you".
For context: Canyonlands has 3 parts. Maze is all the way around and least visited part of canyonlands national park. Canyonlands in Moab is Island In The Sky which is heavily trafficked. Needles District is south of Moab. To get into Maze you have to travel to the end of the world and when you get there you are about as remote as you can possibly get. This recovery is in Maze.
Thanks for the rundown.
Good to know 👍
Very remote indeed, but what a sight to behold
Where the Jeep was near Dollhouse is almost 100 miles from Hanksville, the closest (reliable) gas station.
@@billj5645 There's usually gas at Hite, which is pretty close to where they unloaded the trailers. "Usually"...
I love the way all you guys work together to make all of your lives easier. I watch all four channels every week keep up the great work.
Me too
Is it just me, or does anyone else love the sound Mater makes? She purrs!
Outstanding scenery, truly beautiful. Great video. Thank you Rory & guys. Keep safe.
Nothing like a great running Chevy engine!😎
A healthy big block (and appropriate gearing) is tops for crawling while pulling a loads
I could listen to that sound all day in place of music.
@@kenm6948 Yep. Classic Chevy Big Block 454. (Insert Tim Taylor style grunts here....)
Thanks for the ride. The scenery was amazing !
Those diamond billed rock peckers are everywhere!! 😂 Seriously tho, great to see how you guys compete in a small way but help each other out in a big way 👍🏼👍🏼 good to get a toofer video as well
Trail Mater makes these recoveries look so effortless...it's truly a beast.
It’s a straight up Rig now , no nonsense or useless stuff
Definitely!!!👍🏼
@12:46 Trevor literally went, "Squirrel!". Lol
This area is great fun. I lived in western Colorado for 27 years, and spent about 35 days every year exploring central and southern Utah. The robber's roost highlands are above and adjacent to the western boundary of Canyonlands N.P.. We went down and up the Flint trail switchbacks several times. I took my Dad to the Maze Overlook and Doll House in 1991, his first and only trip to Utah. He never stopped talking about it until he passed in 2009.
Condolences, it's good that you shared time that really meant something to your Dad. May you find peace in the memories made.
❤
I feel like this is a little private club atm. At the rate this channel is growing it won't be longer till there is 1M subs. Congratulations on what I think is just around the corner. Love the content.
Yep! These guys Rory, Matt, Paul, Robby and their support crews are a primary reason I watch you tube. I can be occupied AND entertained by them practically all the time I am on. 👍🏼
122k now! It’s growing quickly!
Those damn diamond billed rockpeckers!
So glad there are channels like this and Matt’s off-road. For many of us OHV enthusiasts, learning extrication techniques while watching entertaining videos such as these is a two-fer.
Love this video. I like seeing you, Matt , Paul, and Robbie working together. It’s always so much fun. And your crews are just awesome.
Y’all taken us to see all of this beautiful scenery and made us laugh. What a perfect way to start our day. When I get the notification
one of y’all are coming on everything else stops until you video is over. Love all of y’all. Stay safe. God bless. 👍👍👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟❤️❤️❤️❤️🏆🏅
Another day at the office for both Rory and Matt and as usual you make it look so easy. Keep up the awesome content and as always be safe 👍
Rory, as the kids say, you are the truth dawg.
I think you are the one on CZcams doing the most pure recoveries and not shenanigans. In my opinion you've also come a long way with your production and comfort level getting used to talking more in front of the camera 🤳 and your audio quality is a lot better. You're world class bud - keep up the good work.
Great to see you and Matt working together and having fun. Keep Trail Mater and those cameras rolling!
Great video love seeing you and Matt work together.
Watching Skeeter on two channels, it is definitely my lucky day.
I MUST add the Diamond-billed Rock Pecker to my birding life list!
Nice to see you guys working together. Long day indeed. Another reason to get a manual transmission: point her down hill and roll start it. Or pull start it - done that before. Keep up the good work!
"If he dies - he dies" - Ha! Great movie quote, Skeeter!
Oh, LOOK! - A Squirrel! (Trevor trips and launches himself off a small cliff) - Actually got me a little nervous, there. 12:46
Your (probably less than) a mere 3K away from official stardom, Rory! Hope you all have an enjoyable / *safe* weekend!
I enjoy rorys straight forward talk
I don't live out there . But I'm amazed how many people breakdown out there in the hills .
This is my brothers Jeep. Thanks for getting it out!
I love when Matt and Rory and their team's get together and do these remote recoverys! I love that Rory brought extra gas just in case Matt runs out of his! 😃 Beautiful scenery out there and really makes it so worth it to us the viewer's! Good job to all!
I'm so happy the diamond bill is recovering in it's natural habitat 👍this makes me smile 😁
Any Rockpecker merch in the foreseeable future @trail mater?
Happy Friday! 👍
You meet the strangest people in the middle of nowhere.
Good video.
Been to the Doll House. It is beautiful but it's remote. You have to get a permit and orientation from the Park Rangers at Hans Flat. Among the things they tell you is be able to get your junk in and out because if you can't and need a tow it will cost $3000 and up depending where you break down. We did fine. I was driving a 1967 Series Land Rover ambulance. Good times. I know you do a lot of recovery for free but I hope you got paid well for this one.
The Scenery is Incredible. Worth a Photography tour!
A lot of people and time for this recovery. Enjoyed watching this episode
Magnificent country! Utah has such unique scenery and I find it beautiful.
You are one righteous guy thank you for the videos. ✌
You meant to say," That shiny paint makes my rust look bad ass."
Love seeing those Southern Utah trails! I live in Northern Utah and see those ones all of the time.
hey thanks i needed this to wake up
Love it Rory, you need to do more of these 'funny videos'
Love it seeing them work together. Legends of recovery.
Oh I've been waiting for this as I've seen it from the Matts offroad Recovery point of view.
This was an epic recovery in distance and time; it was funny 😁
Give me a R, give me a O, give me a R, give me a Y, because he can 😂😂. "O you mean this Hanksville" "O you mean this Dolls house canyon road" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The rock formations are incredible! I'm loving the cooperation between recovery companies. The support you guys give each other is just another layer of enjoyment I get from these Videos.
If Matt hadn't a ridden in trail mater for that short stint, trail mater wouldn't have run out of gas.
Matt has a Fuel Omen!!!⛽👻
Uh-oh, both Trail Mater AND the MORRvair? This one must be a doozy. (grabs popcorn) I'm ready for it.
I bought gas bcuz we really never know if Matt fills up!! Hahaha.
Awesome job. Glad in the end it came back to u.
The Maze, first time I drove out there was in 93 in my 1966 CJ 5. Wild Wild West country. Good job extremely remote beautiful area
No shortage of camera angles and recovery operation coverage. One of the best videos, if not *THE* best. Thanks for the ride along‼️
I love how you use the headset/radios for communication. Trail mater may look more rustic though you use more technology than Matt.
Reminds me of my truck driving days hauling oversized overweight loads d6c pulling and another d6c tailing me off . 1 place had 2 dozers tailing me down hill
love that end shot of the yard!
I love the Community feel you guys have, Matt/Paul/Cole/Robbie etc and your associated teams and the likes of Mischief maker, always their for each other, even though you guys could be competing for the same work, it makes for great watching,
When you do the truck Olympics you could add sub sections for the individuals, we joke about ugger duggers for torque settings, what about a torque comp, you have to all set x or y bolts to a set torque and get points for being the closest without using a T wrench obviously.
You could do something similar with tyre pressures, when the whistle stops put ya finger over is heard a lot, so just what PSI is that,
it would also bring in members of each`s teams to add some fun,
Also blindfolded racing . . . . the passenger tells the blindfolded driver where to go, maybe make that a relay race so they swap roles at the other end and race back again.
We did a blindfold auto test, you know, round the cones, park in a garage, pop a balloon with a specified tyre! All done in front of a crowd in a small field. Well as my mate was doing a test run to prove the course worked I yelled ow, ow, ow, your on my leg, well you know where that went, much hilarity and a friend with ptsd for a couple of days! 🤣🤣
An old tire between the pintle hook and the rope will soften the jerks greatly. Great job!
Just like they use between a wrecking ball and the steel cable (wire rope) of a crane...
I have seen the video from Matt’s view, now to watch it from another view.
Oh yes the 'Diamond Rock Peckers', I remember studying them in school. So awesome to see Matt's crew and yours working together.
Awesome job awesome Teamwork with Matt recovery You guys had me in stitches quite a bit
Talk about a long day ! Jeeeeeez. Great video and I'm glad you guys made it out safe.
Those birds have been hard at it again. Can we get a picture of the birds😁 Long day for both crews, good job 👏
like how the Jeep pushed your wrecker threw the trail them push straps work great .. LOL great Video now I know why Robby had to haul the MORR .. thumbs up .
I like watching your channel Rory, Seems like you just want to get the job done. No games. I like that
Love the scenic shots that add to the story. Diamond Head Rock Pecker, HA! Not bad for not having Cheesey Mikee along.
Navajo sandstones, calcite, calcium carbonate (archs forming) and limestones, the reddish color is iron oxide, almost all of Utah was submerged under the Panthalassic ocean sands and sea 300 millions of years ago, and the most awesome Utah was so near the Equator line, all the Best awesome Team
Another fun video & with Matt. Crazy how they call for towing bids then try to be sneaky & call else . Dont they know your all freinds. Hehe my prayers are with you and your family and friends 🙏 ✌ 💘 😊
Trailmater and Rory save the day again. Great job
The more Videos Rory makes the more comfortable Rory is on the Camera, the more comfortable Rory gets the better the videos get.
Matt, Ed, and Rory are the only guys I have ever seen stack rocks to climb out of back roads.
On Matt's video there is considerably more discussion about the Jeep with details as to why it had to be pulled out. The Jeep is diesel and the customer had tried to start it and fried the starter. I think they had run out of fuel.
Anyway they got it out after hours.
So much fun to watch you and Matt together because ya never no what Matt going to say or do. Rory it’s funny how you still ended up on this job after to bids. Thanks for sharing.
Thank ya Mr. Rorey 👍
When Matt sang it was Rory, I thought it's Rorey? ether way I appreciate ya.
MIGHTY Video again Rory That was SOME HOOR OF A JOB
I like the ending of your video when you have all the vehicles outside
Glad to see a new video. Dropped by last Saturday to say hi, but no one was around. Got a pic with Trail Mater still. Keep up the awesome work and content.
R O R Y ! Because he can‼️And⛽ for Matt 🤣
Well that explains the Rest of the Story why Robby had to haul the Morrvair back to Hurricane for Matt.
You’re the new age cowboy.
Legit!
Trail Maters a beast
Rory--I love your quiet competent work and no nonsense videos. Your Trail Mater truck says, "I get the job done". Keep up the good work.
Ya know, I still don't know just what kinda magic you use to film (well!) and pick & execute multiple vehicle lines?!? Not to mention wildlife & scenery views as well... & of course all the chuckles too! Thanx for the ride alongs !!
Morning all from Sunny Ontario
Beautiful scenery, hope to see some of it this September (road trip)
You guys always have fun, great to see...
Pete from Canada 🇨🇦
I watched Matt’s version and it’s the first time I’ve seen him past exhausted. He had about 20 hours extra driving.
Thanks for the silhouette, picture perfect. A refection of get up and go to work
3 calls and you still did the recovery with help from Matt. 👍
Great video! Thanks for taking me along!
While it's a beautiful day for a ride and your rig is perfectly suited for the trail, 46 miles each way is one heck of a haul. Well done!
Rory you are someone I would want as a friend for situations like this keep up the great work. Definitely a good idea to carry extra gas
That is some beautiful country!
Awesome video and recovery. It was really fun to watch both Rory’s and Matt’s vids. Love the crossover for the recovery. Great humour. 🇨🇦
Tons of camera angles on this one. Great collaboration video. Full day. Thanks for sharing!
Rory, we have been watching Robbie ' s and Matt's channel for a final result to the Morvair getting back to Hurricane via Robbie. It took a few weeks but you did a great job tying it all together, thanks for sharing and stay safe 👍
Always love it when yall team up!!
That was an absolutely stunning vid of those ancient geographical features
That is one of my favorite trails. We had to do a long parts run from near the base of the flint trail. Our fan cut into the radiator and we had to pull the radiator out and take it to Price to get repaired and then go back an install. And then we took it to the Doll House. Fun adventure.
I live in Belgium, in Europe , over the big pond. And its always with great pleasure that I watch the latest video from you! Nice work! European greetings to all the crew!!
I wish we had off-roading like that around where I live All we have is mud. You have amazing 4wheelin and great scenery to go with it. Just can’t be afraid of heights.
Rofl at least you had extra fuel on board Matt never does saw robbie pick up the morrvair some days ago nice to see the actual recovery
Your rust will never look bad to us, Rory. Thanks for the video!
Trail Mater is a monster. Awesome stuff.
I like how you said "ride the brakes to keep the rope tight"
It may have been harder than it sounds
Wow, 2 teams, all friggin day, very cool. I'm glad I don't have to pay that bill! Lovin it!
I don't know if the viewing audience knows these areas. Canyonlands - I -Sky to the N & W of Moab, Needles, S & W of Moab and the Maze W of Moab (the way the bird flies), but otherwise, N to Green River, W and then S to Hanksville, S to Hite Route into Glen Canyon Area. 2 Hours E to Teapot Rock, 2 hours of "rock & roll" & another half hour dirt road to recovery vehicle (looked like near the Wall Camp); Standing Rock and Chimney Rock Camps are to the E, and Doll House Camps to the far E and SE. This is in the Maze region of the Park. (most remote section of national park in the lower 48). The exit route is in the park until W of Teapot Rock and then it becomes Glen Canyon Region (managed by the park) and then to the Highway. 1.5 hours N to I-70, then E past Green River, then E to the junction and an hour S to Moab. That was a long and exhausting recovery. When we go in there (usually down the Flint Trail & out Hite) we always take extra gas, (Rory knows the drill, Matt apparently doesn't). That is a big endeavor, the client is lucky to have such a skilled crew pulling the vehicle out & doing it safely.
I love how Rory and Matt can co-op rescues like this. Nice!
When you're driving so slow, & doing long periods of idling, like when you're welding, measuring gallons per hour is a better determination of fuel efficiency than miles per gallon.
