My grandpa had a MSP one with a side car for his partner because they all had partners back then. My Dad, now in his mid 80's was also MSP and had a reg car in our driveway but i rememver he drove the first MI Mustang patrol car for a few weeks. It was such a big thing, they took turns trying it out for awhile. I think he got to try it in the first month which he was thrilled about. Then I would see it once in awhile after that get brought home. I loved how he was always happy to educate families, schools, and workplaces people about safety. Channel 5 would interview him about bus safety and a radio station would ask him to talk to people. He always made time and was always genuinely kind and respectful.

Another thing that would help is if Detroit pd would do traffic enforcement

HOW ABOUT: More PSAs about watching for motorcycles? I ride. A good day riding is one where a car driver doesn't try to kill me.

I was driving on the Southfield the other day and I had 5 people pass me at over 100mph. Some using the exit lane or shoulder to pass. We need this to come back sooner

It's absolutely nothing to do with safety.... The fact is, the state has taken notice of the amount of revenue they're lost and are losing by disbanding the motor-unit.

How is it about revenue? MSP only stops you if you’re driving recklessly. If you don’t drive 30mph over the speed limit while weaving in traffic, you’ll be ok
If you want to see policing for revenue, go to Georgia, Virginia or Ohio. You’ll get stopped and ticket on an empty highway going 80 in a 70 in Ohio while if you drive 100 in a 75 on an empty highway in Michigan, the officer will write you for 5 over

It's ALWAYS about the BENJAMINS... and if you actually believe the state gives a crap about your personal safety, you're sadly mistaken.

Right.... that's their job. Where do you think all the money incurred from traffic enforcement goes... back to the public??? NOPE! It's rolled into the States' bank account and used wherever the state sees fit. Some of it is kicked back to the state police for equipment, etc.
So after disbanding their motor unit, someone in Lansing started noticing a significant drop in the states' quarterly funds and put two and two together, and BAM... reinstate the motor unit because 98.5% of their job is writing tickets. MONEY MONEY MONEY 💰 🤑
