For years now the CTXP team has wanted to take on a police motor officer skills competition, or “rodeo,” and thanks to the folks at the COTPMCO Zack and Ari were allowed to saddle up next to the best in the 2022 Chute Out. Do the boys have what it takes to keep up with some of the best law enforcement riders in the country? The time has come to find out.
Proceeds from the Capitol Of Texas Police Motorcycle Chute Out (cotpmco.org) go in part to the Sunshine Kids Foundation (sunshinekids.org), aiming to make a small difference in the lives of children with cancer.
Special thanks to Tiffany Curnutt & the COTPMCO, Donnie Williams, Scott Jobe, and David Magers!

@@raydonwilliams2658 i believe the narrator has one of the greatest voices in history, the one and only SAM ELLIOT !
@@radwanawwad98 Not sure about that, but at the very least, he sounds damned close!
Love your channel so informative 👏
@@radwanawwad98 Wow! Great catch! I didn’t think it was Sam E.
@@Taino871 just re-watched this episode. I'm 100% sure it's Sam Elliot. I can bet money on that. And the fact that they got him to do this, just shows the effort they put in CTXP.
This would be my nightmare. Days of extremely tight maneuvers on huge bikes, baking in a parking lot in the Texas sun, surrounded by cops. Way to persevere through the pressure, very impressive riding! Also, those moto cops can sure make a massive Harley dance.
Yeah, now if only cops knew laws as well as they could ride!
@@pfftwhut7638 ignorance at its finest
I worked up a panic sweat just watching the video.
@@pfftwhut7638 - And you defensively judge all cops, by the finest, best cop out there; for sure. No… Not even close… Only by the one you meet that Saturday late night, when you had some beer to much… That did not know or forgot, the law as he should have known by heart…
@@Gismo3333 Can you try to put those words in an order that makes sense?
I was there and what’s not mentioned is that Zack was 3rd Place in his Division! Great job 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing this! I figured Zack must have placed well. He was riding really fast and cleanly.
Everything I've seen Zack do he's humble but really really skilled, as he says in one of his videos he hoped he'd end up being a pro racer for his career, when he was younger. Stunning skills from those officers with those huge huge motorcycles, watching the tandem portion was so cool!
holy shit!
HOW DID THEY DO??.?.
@@DirtObseXXion For having zero police motor training, hopping on bikes they don’t ride on a regular basis, and competing with the best police competition riders in the country, they rode great. This is really difficult to do.
That panning past the tree edit at 7:07 was fantastic.
Great episode as always!
Zack scored an honorable mention ranking 3rd in his class/division (metric/novice)
How do you know?
@@gunysa I just googled ‘police rodeo Buda Texas’ and found the full results. They both were really impressive.
I didn't even notice the edit until you mentioned it. Really cool.
There's another one at 21:52. Context @21:44
@@cbrooks2767Same here, that was pretty cool!
As a motocop, I really appreciated this video. I could probably ride a cone course better than you but I doubt I could run a race track or a single track as good as either of you. It's all the same controls but the "feel" of it is different. I'm perfectly fine to let my 850lb Harley dance around in tight manuevers. But when the front tire of my 450lb 650cc street bike comes off the ground and the handlebars get light (especially when not expected), I get nervous even though the controls are fundamentally the same. It comes down to experience I suppose. There are many types of riding skilsets. I want to be proficient in all of them all. This was a cool video.
Well said Joe. I was at the track this weekend and had an unexpected wheelie coming out of a turn, and a small rear end slide in another turn, and I was able to take it in stride. But these tight parking lot maneuvers look stressful to me. It really is what you practice. I would really like to get out and practice this side of our art form.
Thank you for your service. Ride safe. 👊
same thing i mentioned in my comment there are dfferent skills for sportbike and big bike operation. thanks for your services.
First thank you for protecting & serving. It’s sad that over the last few years our mainstream media turned on law enforcement because they wanted to stereotype (& sometimes misrepresent) the actions of a few as representative of 600,000 men & women.
With that out if the way, have you ridden any of the other touring bikes besides a Harley & if so was it as a motor officer? Was wondering if you consider one to be superior to others.
CRASH!
'The metric Muchaco'!!
Who came up with the script deserves a medal, as does the speaker.
And Ari and Zack of course. I literally felt nervous watching this.
Thank you for making my Saturday morning before going to ride.
Yep, all the scripts are amazing. Especially this ine
I absolutely hated that.
The whole narration was so cringe-worthy I had to struggle not to just close the browser tab.
“More mistakes than a cross-eyed accountant!”
I’m takin’ that! 🤣
Whoever borrow the HD to these guys deserves the medal. Great video.
Ctxp is the BEST MC show out right now. I love what you guys do. I’m not a cruiser guy but I loved this episode and have a lot of respect for the skill involved in maneuvering those big bikes through those tight courses. I have tried some smaller courses like these on my dual sport bikes and they’re still challenging. I cannot imagine doing these on a 700 lb cruiser. Great job guys! Thanks to the boys in blue for allowing this as well.
Think they are more like 800ibs. But it is all moving the head and eyes, look where you going, and train and know the techniques. You can take a course that makes you better at this, with Jerry palomino, Ride like a PRO on CZcams. He is in Florida, and I think he has a course one more place in the US. You can even get a private course alone or with other people.
Can't agree more, CTXP is so down to earth and accessible for any rider of any experience to enjoy. And the dynamic and brotherhood between these two guys is so entertaining.
I'd actually like to see this event in a sport bike/clip-ons only version
@@riggidybang Gymkhana...
@@AbdurrahmanZedSaeed I'd love to see them try that
I was a motorcycle cop for 10 days. The training was 14 days. The cone courses in your video brought it all back! I was so glad when we got to the cone course one day and someone had stolen them all! So instead we went out on a long ride doing things like standing up with no hands while going 60 mph. After wiping out the third time, they decided I was better suited for four wheeled vehicles, and I did not disagree one little bit!
I enjoy these videos with Zack and Ari more than anything on TV or Netflix, I wish there was more of them. Also their team does such a great job at scripting and editing, it‘s a real joy to watch!
I've always thought Zach was excellent during those super tight turning tests at the end of the daily rides, demonstrating outstanding balance and brake/clutch control. This is just a whole different discipline that requires a ton of hours to get good. I bet that out of that bunch, maybe one or two can keep up with Ari and Zach at the track.
@R Ohio Done that…
@R Ohio a GS would be better. I've tried the slow stuff with the XR, and the engine doesn't like it very much. But again, I wouldn't be any good, I'm sure any of those guys who are proficient at the slow speed stuff would be able to do it on the XR no problem.
@@CubanRider Steering lock on an XR isn't much better than a RR either. GS can spin some pretty tight turns. Although an old airhead would probably be king at this stuff.
@R Ohio I can, the XR is unbelievably nimble at slow speeds
@@CubanRider I came off a K1600GT doing these manuevers, then to an XR. It was like riding a bicycle through the cones on the XR. But will admit, I am extremely jealous of your riding skills through the mountains........and those wheelies!!
I love that each episode of Common Tread XP you guys show a different aspect and type of riding. Really well rounded show and I can't wait to see the next adventure.
Police motorcycle rodeos are a great way to spend the day w/the family. Generally free events too and gives you a different perspective of your average officer. Motor cops are some of the best riders I've ever seen. They have incredible skills but because they practice, practice, practice!
Incidentally, GREAT video, very entertaining and fun. I applaud you both for trying something new and challenging.
And the cops are getting paid to play on mcs. Disgusting video.
Hats off to you guys. Low speed riding is extremely challenging. I bet you are both better riders for going through this challenge.
Undeniably, Motorcycle cops are some of the most skilled people on two wheels. It’s impressive to see some of these guys do stuff on 900lb bikes that I can’t even do on my 390lb mt07 😂
you'd struggle to do a lot of it on a 26lb mountain bike
should see the dutch motorcycle cops, especially where they chase a scooter(moped). Skill is impressive.
And yet all they do is hand out tickets.
You probably need to get into training on this low speed stuff. This can really save your life… If you cant do it… You are out of luck.
You cant ride a bike in traffic your hole life, on just pure luck… Got to get that skill… And you get so much better after just 5-15 min of train a day. And it get so much more fun riding also.
So much more control, and you can concentrate only on the traffic, see what others are doing in front of you. So they don't even come close to hitting you ever again. And you riding goes automatic.
Braking skill, stopping on a dime with the front brake, even in corners… That is a life saver… Better then having a ambulance or firetruck, with paramedic's, following you around every where.
@@griffithd05 - Try to follow the speed limits… You are suppose to have lower speed then the limit, not twice the speed.
Great job guys. The intimidation factor when competing against the best motocops around...you did very well.
I just completed Hawthorn CA PDs “Ride to Live “ class. It’s all about this. Everyone who rides should have this training. I learned so much!!
Agreed. I learned more in this class than in many of the paid classes I've taken. Much respect for the officers who take the time to share their skills.
Just watching this and THINKING about trying it makes me too nervous to ride. I live in Hermosa Beach so when I read "Hawthorne" and realized I am only a few miles away from humiliating myself, I crawled under the bed.
The Motorcycle Safety Course I took was led by California Highway Patrol Officers, and the one thing I remember them teaching us is always look to where you want to go. Don't worry about the cones, as long as your entry speed is good, and you've done everything right, you'll be fine on the way out.
I did that same course there a couple years ago. Lots of fun.
That narration is the real treat in this video!!!
Ari and Zach always deliver!
That's what she said 🙂
I used to work for municipalities throught out new England. I was delivering msp crown vics at their base while they were doing vehicular and motorcycle training, pit maneuvers and so on. I ride as well and my god was it amazing to watch. Can't imagine how much fun you guys had. You can ride 30 years and still learn. I tell people who wanna learn all the time, the one rule, be smooth.
Smooooth.
Having done some of this training (strictly civilian), I am completely gobsmacked that you two actually competed! That's a VERY high bar. Experienced riders or not, this kind of riding is next level shit.
Thanks for 👆👆👆👆watching and Commenting send a direct message right away I've got something special for you Giveaway🎁🆙..
And Gerry Paladino's wife makes them dance quite well also.
A tiny woman on a big bike...WOW.
I've been riding for 30 years and went on a course that taught this kind of maneuvering. It was incredibly hard, got better but am definitely no police officer - those guys are amazing. Loved this video, despite the nerves, I bet you had a great time :-)
"The metric muchacho" hahaha Well done gentlemen!
Most impressive thing is Zack getting that BMW for 2500 bucks.
Most of the BMW motorcycles depreciate pretty quick. A bike that was $20K new will be $7k in a few years.
I think a big part of it is fear of some maintenance issues. There can be problems with the shaft drive, and things like a clutch replacement can be a much bigger deal compared to more traditional bikes.
And, 70K miles on a police bike is going to be like 120K on a normal bike. Most police vehicles are a very rough service environment with lots of idle time followed up with a high load acceleration.
To have a friendship like Zach and Ari’s is something to treasure
Man you just can't beat this level of Motorcycle content. It's wholesome and pure as hell
That was seriously impressive. My anxiety levels were skyrocketing just watching it.
My exact thoughts!
I noticed my palms sweating a little bit lol
I find this impossibly difficult. I couldn't come close to these officers in my Honda Grom which was designed for precisely this!!
Yeah exactly, I feel horrible anxiety just watching this. That police officer is like a military general or something, nice, but scary. That's too much pressure, I wouldn't even want to do it. haha.
Wow, an even more new found respect for our motor officers. Zach and Ari, you should be very proud of your performance I know I am. Good job fellas, you were basically thrown to the wolves.
I'm so glad for the rider course I took. We learned these maneuvers in our basic riding course. It feels great to say "I can handle a bike in that manner". It's fun, very fulfilling and so glad to have that knowledge. If you've never taken a riders course, it's so much fun.
That was excellent guys! Much respect to you guys for hanging in there, and of course to the boys in blue that make it look super easy!
Living in Europe I had to go through the licensing process 3 times for the A1, A2 and A licenses. Since I was riding continuously ever since I got the first one the other two were just a formality. Still I had to put in the hours but the instructors could tell I was comfortable on the bike so they let me do whatever. The licensing course of course is much easier but I'd set personal challenges for myself like going the A1 slalom which is tighter with the bigger bikes, as fast as I could, throwing the bike around so fast I felt like I'd be thrown off. I'd do the slow lane course as slow as I could clocking in a PR of 47 seconds for the 25long and 40cm wide lane, pinning the throttle on the emergency braking lane and slamming on the brakes after the brake marker to stop with my wheel on the box and all sorts of other things.
What surprised me was that even though each single day felt hopeless and frustrating, every time I'd get on the bike on the next day I'd immediately feel more confident and skilled the next and doing with ease things that felt insurmountable the day before. It's amazing what a few hours of parking lot drills can do. Never neglect training or assume you're good enough to not need it. If you have a space you can use and the time available definitely make a habit of it.
That announcer totally poo pooped on y'all before you even got out the gate. LOLOLOLOLOL!!! Good job guys!
Thank you for producing this context. It reminded me of my friends and I, three of us that served and one that wished, but on short haul trips, not like this one, always wished as on this one. Brought a tear to my eyes that dedication of not giving up that we learned and moving forward. This is one fantastic journey, thank you for including all of us.
Jon & Ponch you guys did great! 🚨
Coffee, breakfast, new episode of Common Tread... Excellent start to a weekend!
I just got done watching the video and absolutely loved it 😍
Common Tread is fast becoming my favorite show in CZcams, keep them coming guys!!!
Memorizing the course has got to be tougher then handling the bike
The Police Motorcyclist in USA, UK, Japan have always been held up as the pinnacle of motorcycle road skills (justifiably so)- I wish I was half as good as these guys 🙂
me too
Its tough. As an "experienced" Honda 750 rider for ten years I thought I was not too bad. I had no idea how little I knew or poor skills possessed until enduring 2 week of intense hands-on training. It helped to have the Kaw Police 1000 (pre-fairing model) which very impressed me with its incredible balance. It also helped to be young, flexible with fast reflexes. After passing that's when I knew how to ride a large m/c
Hahahahhahahaha
Uk lol
Ari and Zach! This is no joke! Good work - and every rider worth their salt know that these moto cops are the best riders out there.
RevZilla is lucky to have these two! Thanks for taking us along...
Hiring these guys was the best decision RevZilla ever made.
Awesome episode !!! I have done one small competition in my country that had the similar idea. The track was longer and there was space between different turns and shapes. More like motorcycle gymkhana style. Learnt a lot, and I'm much more confident with my bike in very tight spaces than I was before. Oh and had lots of fun as well. Highly recommend it to all riders to at least practice this.
That was absolutely outstanding, a lot of fun to watch and I learned a lot thank you Revzilla for doing more than just gear
Guys, I hope you’re still seeing comments on this video as it’s 11 months old. I’ve got to tell you this is a real exciting video. I understand the jitters. I drive school bus and have done bus driver rodeo. Not like this at all but same concept. We gotta put those buses through some very very tight obstacles. It’s fun and competitive. All designed to train us to get through tight places we come up on.
Very exciting to watch this.
Once again, the Revzilla YT team coming out with an incredible production.
That looked like hard work, and even just watching this have me a new found respect for those guys on huge Police bikes. Well done guys, you completed it 👌🏼

As a motor officer, this brings lots of giggles.
yes that is funny reading about us so called bike riders finding out we are not as good as we think we are. lol
Great episode! I’ve always had highest respect for motor officer’s skill knowing the rigorous training they have to complete. Zack and Ari did a good job illustrating that because they have mad skills in their own right…plus they gave me a ton of good laughs..😎
It takes courage to be humbled, and rise above it. Amazing show of strength and humility! A great example of how Zac and Ari got to be such talented all around riders. I love this channel.
Now that's one of the best comments I've read!!!
18:11 When he finishes the course I needed a drink!!!!... I was so happy for him & I don't even ride!! Excellent video, very well done!
I am very impressed. Many years ago I took a course with the PA State Troopers and I felt like an idiot. But with hard work and perseverance it's amazing what you can accomplish. Way 2 go guys!
Total respect for these motocops. Great video.
You did very well both of you guys. Looking forward to the next trip you guys will have. Always fun to watch.
Gotta feel for Ari’s struggle in this one - unless I’m mistaken he’s not particularly a cruiser guy while Zack on the other hand looked just about in his element bike wise. Great showing by both of them it seems though! Really had me nervous for them with every section
Great episode guys! Insane skill among these riders
Ari and Zack are the best, they get an automatic like every-time from me. The videos and production value just keep getting better too!
Much respect to those motorcycle Officers out there on the road.
OMG did you see that guy at the end who was hardly moving but didnt touch the ground like a jedi!!! That was epic!
I laughed out loud when you both came out in matching unis and riding boots! Impressive just getting through the training.
Like an episode of CHIPS...LOL
To have a friendship like Zach and Ari’s is something to treasure. That was seriously impressive. My anxiety levels were skyrocketing just watching it..
Quite possibly my second favorite video on the channel, my favorite being the Alaska episode with the two little Hondas. I just love a Harley-Davidson, and the Road King's been my "one day" bike for a very long time... Good work, team, keep em coming!
Outstanding! Loved the video. Brings back memories being a retired motor officer, but I never competed like this. You guys did a great job learning everything, AND competing in this Mother of Motor Officer competitions. All that low speed work makes you guys even better riders if that is possible. Thanks for the video RevZilla, really enjoyed it.
My dad was a motorcycle cop when i was growing up, and he used to do these rodeos in DC with the US park police. Amazing to think you can do that on a 900lbs Harley.
With their low CG and relatively short wheelbase it's actually easier to do these courses on a Harley than it would be on a lighter, but taller bike
The US Park Police in D. C. are outstanding riders. They teach other agencies.
@@jamesbarrett918 yeah i know, that’s who trained my dad!
@@kingkrimson8771 The wet clutch on the Harley tends to work a bit smoother when you're in the friction zone to manage speed. Dry clutches will tend to grab and accelerate quickly when you aren't careful. The BMW in this video has a dry clutch but the rider managed it really well particularly when they did the tethered ride. It also has fully integrated brakes too meaning you always have both brakes working whether you use front only or back only. There's a portioning valve that regulates how much of each depending on which you use. If you use some trail braking with the back brake you will still get a percentage of the front brake as well. Riding courses like this are faster if you can avoid braking at all.
How about a sequel sending the boys to ride with the Japanese motorcycle police? Also absolutely amazing skills!
This is some of the loveliest minutes I’ve seen on CZcams. Thank you Ari and thank you Kershaw.
You guys were doing fine. I am envious!
Excellent video! Exciting all the way through; I even got sweaty palms imaging riding that course as you were. I've done some work like this in the past on a Harley Softtail Custom, but not nearly as intricate and complex as what you guys accomplished! Great work. Those cops, though - they are super impressive.
Both of you did great but if I had to choose a winner it would be like this.... If you're going to ride pillion, go with Zack, if you need your bike fixed, call Ari. Seriously though, both of you are winners and could probably shame 99 percent of most riders.
Great content, Great production, fun to Watch. I'm Always impress when large motocycles are ridden like toys.
I could feel my heart rate to up n up n up watching u guys do this!!! This is exactly why we loce Zack and Ari soooo much! Excellent video..! You two really are truly exceptional riders!
You guys killed it! Ari, rockin the Harley. That thing is huge. Thanks for sharing guys. I’d hate to see what I’d do on that course.
So glad y'all have a home at RevZilla. Keep it up.
I haven't even got to the end yet but the fact you're willing to put the effort in. Kudos boys.
Heavy bikes dancing like ballerinas... :) I am not a bikedriver, but I enjoyed this video very much. Thanks a lot and good luck next time !
Thoroughly enjoyable. Wholesome.
And I bet those parking lot turning circles on Daily Rides are about to get smaller.
Ha! No doubt 😄
You guys are really stepping up the editing with this one, good job.
I use my Police Motorcycle skills everyday best training I ever had.
I could watch this over and over! Enter again! Please!
Wonderful content with amazing production - thanks revlilla and Zach and Ari for all your hard work.
God I am super impressed with you guys, doing that with basically nothing more than a crash course on unfamiliar bikes. I could probably practice that for a month and not do as well as you did. Way to go!
Fun watch, guys! Thanks for the entertainment! The video editing and voice over were awesome!
I was in McKinney Texas working on my mom's house on the way back from the hardware store I stopped by the park to eat lunch and watched y'all practice from my truck. I had no idea it was Ari and Zack. I didn't get to close because of the police make me nervous. Thanks for the Video.
That was so cool guys . Awesome job both of you.
My hat off to you both, you have skills that I am jealous off. Congratulation!!
Then start training… only way to get better… I do it all the time. But I am not close to this level. But at lest getting better… And it is super fun when you start to get better at it. And the riding in traffic gets so easy… Even the hard parts I do two fingers on the throttle. It get so easy when you start to get the techniques down. It is not even funny… it feels like a dream. You have to try it.
Motor cops are just unbelievable in their abilities. As a rider for 30+ years, I am ALWAYS in awe.
What an amazing story and friendship those friendships don’t come around to often y’all are blessed to have a relationship like that and work together!!! Congrats y’all did awesome these videos y’all make are better then movies !!!!

"The Dude abides."
I seriously want a common tread episode of them getting into the stunting community!
Careful what you wish for…we might get it. ;-)
Brilliant Gents, well done challenging yourselves.
I have got to say the guts you guys have is incredible. You guys did incredible.....I have done this before and the way you guys orientated yourselves so fast was stellar.
Believe the instructor when hr says you guys did great!!!
Being nominated for an Oscar is just as good as winning one.
That dual run at the end was incredible!!
So awesome getting to see this. I can't even imagine how humbling this has to be for damn near anybody that hasn't done it before
What a great CTXP episode! This just shows the importance of doing low speed practice. Great work team!
Biggest thing to take away from this is something Donnie said near the very beginning:
"Look where you're going, not where you're at"
I think everyone from new to experienced riders need to hear that at least once a month, words of wisdom.
In my humble opinion, this is way more interesting and intense than any road racing out there.
Dang I always figured they just lived with being super un-manuverable, pretty impressive.
Picking that BMW prob got you some looks from the HD crowd but it's def the pick if you've gotta do this kind of riding with a police bike
I'd love to see them try it on a cop spec ST1300.
I feel like the Buell XB12XP would be awesome at this.
I loved this episode! Two very talented riders stepping outside their comfort zone!
If you’ve ever ridden one of these courses you know just how that Road King is THE bike for this. The low CG and low speed torque and smoothness of that engine combined the low seat height and short wheelbase makes it perfect.
The Harley CG is 18 inches. People claim the BMW has a low CG but nobody will tell me what it is. I asked BMW HQ but heard nothing but crickets.
Knowing how much zach loves to pop wheelies on anything with two wheels from all the earlier episodes, an absence of them in this episode is hilarious.
This is by far the best type of entertainment there is. You guys would kill with a Netflix deal;) Amazing riding skills mates. Thank you and cheers from Portugal
I think they'd honestly do better without one. Netflix sucks the soul out of everything it touches. These guys are making real cinema on their own terms.
I took a training course today with the Peoria, Arizona PD. Man it was hard but I’m sure grateful I took the class. It helped me be just a little more confident doing low speed maneuvering. And I truly believe bike cops are the best motorcyclists you’ll find on the roads and highways.
This was so cool. I mean I always loved bike cops, watched Chips as a kid all the time, but seeing how they handle those bikes just gave me a newfound respect. And well done for going through all that pressure guys. Awesome!
