    My apologies but I misspoke on the +1/+1 counters for example for Fertilid and Altered Ego: "Replacement effects are unaffected by Yarok’s ability. For example, a creature that enters the battlefield with one +1/+1 counter on it won’t receive an additional +1/+1 counter."
    Again, sorry for the mistake, and thank you to those who caught it! Still good cards in the deck though!

    Thanks for the inspiration. Yarok is going to be the commander for my first ever commander deck. I built a 50$ list based off of this one. I added a few other cards like Panharmonicon, Solemn Simulacrum, Hornet Queen, The Great Henge, and Risen Reef. Thanks for the idea for a great commander deck. My mom decided to get me it for Christmas

  • @MrNord-so3yp
    @MrNord-so3yp Před 5 lety +89

    Um quick rules check i don’t believe fertilid enters with four counters with yarok in play due to the wording. Also because fertilid entering isn’t a triggered ability, because if it was fertilid would die every time with the trigger for the plus one counters on the stack. I could be wrong on this but I’m pretty sure this is how the that ruling works.

    • @TheCommandersQuarters
      @TheCommandersQuarters  Před 5 lety +16

      Correct, my apologies for missing that!

    • @beFreetolove
      @beFreetolove Před 3 lety

      So York does not make a copy of the triggered ability it just allows the card to trigger an additional time. It says on yarok specifically "If a permanent entering the battlefield causes a triggered ability of a permanent you control to trigger, that ability triggers an additional time." That would mean your looking for a "when or when ever xx enters the battlefield". So fertild would enter with 2 1/1 counters then his text would trigger again. There fore giving it 2 more +1+1 counters.

    • @azurediamondz7645
      @azurediamondz7645 Před 3 lety

      @@beFreetolove no because fertilid isn't a triggered ability, just when it enters the battlefield, it gets 2 +1/+1 counters. Yarok specifically reads if a permanent entering the battlefield causes a triggered ability to activate. Then it happens again. Since fertilid only enters the battlefield with the counters, and doesn't causes another ability to activate, it doesn't get another two counters.

    • @bobvance-
      @bobvance- Před 2 lety

      @@beFreetolove Old comments but a good rule of thumb is any cards that say "when" "whenever" or "as" when referring to ETB abilities means that they will proc Yarok's doubling effect.
      In the case of Fertilid, it just says "Fertilid enters the battlefield". Confusing, but if you go by the wording it should make it a lot easier.

    A budget card suggestion for the twinning strategy, Dance of Many. UU for an enchantment, ETB put a token copy of a nontoken creature into play under your control. It does have a few restrictions in that if either the token or enchantment leave play you lose the other and it costs UU each upkeep, but the value you get for making 2 tokens for 2 Mana is worth it.

    Small correction: Effects like Fertilid, where the creature "enters with x +1/+1 counters" aren't technically triggered abilities, so they don't work with Yarok. The counters are just kinda part of casting the creature.

      Sonic growth chamber enters the battlefield, etb triggers twice. You target a forest and sonic growth chamber. They both bounce, then the etb trigger for coral happens. You target the creature to untap, then you tap the creature to put the forest in play. This causes the enchantment to trigger, untap creature then tap for growth chamber. Rinse repeat

In addition to just running a panharmonicon, I was intending to include the 8 (5 green, 2 blue, 1 black) 'make a scion/spawn' eldrazi. On top of that, running a Sire of Stagnation to seize the game's speed. Equilibrum was also a must include for this deck, something I definetly missed here.
    For removal, I was looking at Noxious Gearhulk, Hostage Taker, and Ravenous Chupacabra. Other cards I would've loved to include were Lotus Cobra, Ob Nixilis the Fallen, Kiora Behemoth Reckoner, Guardian Project, Elemental Bond, Frilled Mystic, Void Grafter, Mystic Snake, Vivien Champion of the Wilds, and Dragonlord Silumgar.

    I cracked him in my very first core 20 booster.
    Had no idea what to do with him then I got the idea to do a Sultai Energy deck.
    I can shut down 'walkers with deadlock trap, flicker them with spells and get double the double energy, and all three Modules to mini Great Machine my way to obnoxiousness.

    Deck should have Archaeomancer and Mnemonic Wall. If you're already running Peregrine Drake and the Ghostly Flicker spells, the two creatures are great additions to go infinite.

      That's why budget is so great for being open-ended. Err wait, it's the choice of a decent commander. Gotta make good picks so you don't waste your time.

    I think in a less budget build snow basic lands might be worth playing so you can run Ice-Fang Coatl and Marit Lage’s Slumber

    Unfortunately you made some ruling mistakes : 7/12/2019 Replacement effects are unaffected by Yarok’s ability. For example, a creature that enters the battlefield with one +1/+1 counter on it won’t receive an additional +1/+1 counter. You can check the Yarok, the desecrated official MTG page for more.

      IMPORTANT. The bounce lands bounce two lands. The first combo you’ve described here works, but the second one absolutely does not.

      @@emilysmith3594 The bounce land bounces itself and a forest. You play the forest then you can play the bounceland. It is infinite.

    Cloud of Faeries is very good in this deck. It's a cheaper pergerine drake that goes infinite with shrieking drake or with ghostly flicker and something like archaeomancer or eternal witness, which I also believe belong in this deck.
