Listen to what 7-time Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger had to say about how strong Wilt was. He was working out with heavier weights than a lot of the professional body builders were. Amazing strength and athletic ability. He would dominate in today's game . They couldn't stop him then nor would they be able to today. He is the GOAT in my book.

@Carbonara with salća All you have to do is watch clips of both of them playing. Wilt never, never played with the aggressiveness that Shaq did. Wilt never showed great speed going down the court. Wilt never showed any great leaping ability on the court. All his feats seemed to have been off the court, and if they were true (which I doubt most of it) then it didn't translate into basketball. Wilt wouldn't power through Shaq, and he wouldn't be able to stop Hakeem. His high stats have added to an exaggerated legend that only amateurs really fawn over. Most analysts, historians, and other professional players never put him in their top 5.

I'd particularly like to see his amazing 50" vertical leap that has been purported. Let's see the evidence. Let's see a vid of him blocking a shot that would come anywhere close enough for the ball to break someones leg. Let's see a vid of him knocking people around like rag dolls the way Shaq did. Show me something, please!

Wilt was one of those rare freaks whose strength way out matched his size. And he was huge already. Wilt was 7'1, probably 7'3 by today's standards and 275 lbs without any body fat what so ever. Dude had a short neck as well which made him even bigger. Arnold has called him the strongest person he ever met and he was 50 when he met wilt. You'll see stories of him picking up 250 lbs players with one arm. Then you look at his track and field stuff and see he was measurably one of the strongest men to ever existed. Dude was just huge and freakishly strong and fast.

This was almost a good, accurate list, then it became clear you've either forgotten nor ever heard of the A-train, Artis Gilmore; At 7'2 and 290lbs, during his ABA days and his Chicago years in the NBA, no one, and I MEAN NO ONE was as strong as Gilmore. Even Chamberlain, who would outplay him the brief time they played against each other remarked that Artis was the closest to his size and strength since he played the game. Arvidas Sabonis was 7'4 and approx. 320lbs, and a player that Shaq called, " the strongest he'd ever played against. " I still can't believe you left off Gilmore. Props for including " Chocolate Thunder, " Darryl Dawkins, who wasn't just about smashing backboards(only two folks), but was a hell of a player defensively too. Very underrated.

This 315lb figure is the highest weight for Wilt Ive ever heard. He was listed at the time(67-73) at 275, altho he WAS somewhat bigger at the end
One reason I doubt this is that I once saw Wilt walking out of the Veterans Coliseum (Phoenix) after a playoff game in 1970. He had a massive upper body but super long bird legs. Dude was skipping too many leg days at the gym. He also had a bum knee at the time due to a severe injury
This is where Shaq would beat Wilt. He'd be able to get under Wilts center of gravity and push him backwards to the rim. Wilts center of gravity was way too high and he couldnt lower his body too far due to his bad knee

    • @tunanorth
      @tunanorth Před rokem +1

@@brianstark2219 The team roster listings never exceeded 275, however, that was only accurate early in his career. It is well documented that he was 293 by 1964, and post-injury was past 300. He started weight lifting as rehab, and kept getting bigger. Going up from there, ultimately hitting 310 and in his final year 315. If you listened to Chick Hearn [Lakers announcer], this was not a secret. He was weighed by the insurance company for the "Conan" movie, and was 327, but still had a visibly massive body but skinny legs. In the photos of Wilt and Shaq together, its very obvious that Wilt had a larger overall frame and was also taller.

  • @archiveprotector

Wilt was stronger than any BB player of all-time. He, at 48 years old, lifted more weight than all the top bodybuilders. This is coming from Arnold Schwarzenegger himself. It is well documented all over the internet. He was lifting 500 lbs before he even got in the NBA, again documented all over youtube and the internet by his friends and family. He was an NCAA SHOT PUT champion! There are books, stories, pictures and videos of his feats of strength all over the internet and in every library across the country. He was an NCAA high jump, long jump and 4x400 relay champion. He was a pro volley ball player after he retired from the NBA, he was a great racquetball player, he ran marathons, he was an avid swimmer, and he was a good chess player. He was very intellectual. Excellent video on the freakiest NBA strongman ever. It is difficult to argue with the top two choices. Both could move a parked car and turn it in reverse! The "Mailman" Karl Malone, was so powerful that no guard dog could attack him on his deliveries. These were not only the strongest men in NBA history. They were possibly the most powerful trio in any sport.

    Wilt vs SHAQ continued.
40 yard dash times from NBA combines (scouting of rookies).
Shaq 40 yard dash speed: 5.8 hand timed 40 yard. 5.8 seconds.
Wilt 40 yard dash speed: 4.6 hand timed 40 yard, 4.6 seconds.
Wilt beats SHAQ in the 40 yard dash by over a second.
    10 yards is 30 feet.
This calculates to SHAQ running about 7 yards a second (6.89), and Wilt running about 8 yards a second (8.33333...). Wilt is faster.
A basketball court is 94 feet, which is 31 yards and 1 foot. Wilt gains a yard on Shaq every second. Wilt gains a yard on Shaq every 30 feet or so. If they start at one basket, by the time they run to the other end, Wilt is 3 yards ahead, 9 feet.
Wilt leaves SHAQ IN THE DUST. Wilt is dunking as SHAQ crosses the foul line.
Wilt generates power, both vertically and horizontally, faster than Shaq.
    Wilt is stronger than Shaq.

As much as I can't stand Lebron( I literally don't like him at all) he should be top 10

When I read this title, my immediate reaction for top 3 were Shaq, Malone and Oakley. Staggered Oakley is nowhere to be seen here.

Dunking ability is not only according to the power or strength. In the video ı only see dunking or blocking players. In my opinion there should be rodman, jordan, ewing, lebron, maybe mutombo.... İf you choose them by dunking ability than there should be vince carter, lebron, jordan, kemp, maybe pippen.... But ı agree about malone, barkley and shaq.

You should have put a video of an old Wilt Chamberlain handshaking young Shaq and almoust ripping his arm off.
