    a lot of people don't know how great Wilt & Russel really was because the NBA didn't record certain states back then, thats why people down grade them so much, but its nice to know this person knew who the true greatest paint protector of all time is

    • @yulintsai562
      @yulintsai562 Před 7 lety +13

      Yea but that doesn't mean that they're rank so high on the list. They played a bunch of scrawny white dudes in the 60s. I agree that wilt can be fourth but I don't agree that Bill Russell is no 1. At least he brought Hakeem justice, cuz the dream is underrated

    • @landonspooky
      @landonspooky Před 7 lety +13

      the white people back then was not a push over, they may not have been as fast or strong but white people can still play ball & the league was smaller & it was harder to get in so they only picked the best of the best to get in the league, (if that makes any sense to what we are talking about)

    • @yulintsai562
      @yulintsai562 Před 7 lety +2

      +Landon Ware (Frosty) true but no matter how skilled or tough they were, a 6'9 6'10" center (and smaller guards) were no match of 7'1 7'2 wilt and Kareem. I'm not trying to discredit the two legends completely. But I'm trying to consider all the factors

    • @landonspooky
      @landonspooky Před 7 lety +9

      Wilt was known to be taller then 7'5 & Kareem was 7'5, the NBA lies about heights just how they say Allen Iverson is 6'0 when he's really 5'10 short big men can take on tall big man, like Russel said its not how tall you are, its how you box them out, Charles Barkley for example

    • @yulintsai562
      @yulintsai562 Před 7 lety +1

      +Landon Ware (Frosty) the reason why Kareem is at 4th on this list was because of his career total shot blocking which his height difference between him and other players helped him a lot, so are Russell and Wilt's blocks. The reason why I would put Hakeem, Rodman, and Wallace before the 3 centers was because Hakeem/Rodman/Wallace had the quickness to guard guards and the toughness to guard centers...and KG should be in here too because he could do that too

      @bolo5190 Před 8 měsíci

      @@johnanderson9765 Great defensive big mans especially the ones who could really move or move just enough will always have the advantage over the great defensive little mans but for Gary Payton to make this list as a point guard just shows how much of a force he was. Another great defensive point guard was Jason Kidd, John Stockton was very good too, Chris Paul is good too even though he is still playing, Chauncey Billups was very good too and Kyle Lowry too even though he is still playing, there is many great defensive point guards that I could name but those were some that come to mind to me, oh and I can't forget these guys Joe Dumar and Isiah Thomas were great defensive point guards.
      With the way the game is being played today offensively, Gary Payton would have absolutely dominated the game defensively at his position because today's offense is more perimeter oriented.

  • @bolo5190

    Rodman was less athletic?? Steve Kerr called him the best athlete he ever played with and he played with Mj Scottie and David Robinson? + who are you to say he was dumber? He was actually pretty smart on the court in terms of lower post positioning. Rodman is weaker offensively but they'res no way he doesn't match/ exceeds Russell this guy has vids of him locking up point guards shooting guards sf pf EVEN SHAQ??! I seen him guard more than Centers.
      He had Power Forward speed.
      He guarded Centers, Power Forwards and Small Forwards.
      Sure Rodman could guard any position but it was better for the team that MJ and Pippen guarded 3 thru 5 and Rodman guarded 1 and 2s.
      Same thing with pretty much any other Center and Power Forward in Basketball history.
      Small Fowards are usually the most versatile on defensive and guard 1 thru 4 whoever is needed.
      Guards are the fastest. Iverson, Sprewell and others would use that speed to get past Rodman.
      MJ and Pippen could keep with the fastest guys in the NBA. Rodman could not.
      Rodman is a better post defender than MJ and Pippen.

He was only asked to rebound the ball I'm not knocking Rodman because he's one of my all-time favorite player's. But that first ballot HOF shit was a Joke if he was first ballot then Artis Gilmore is the greatest Center of All-time. 6X All-star 5X All-NBA first team offense and defense. Career averages of 18ppg 12rpg 3.2bpg but he had to wait 24 yrs to get in...GTFOH The other guys are irrelevant because those were role player's at best. So like I said you're stupid ASF if you really believe that's only reason why the Bulls were dynasty in the 90's, The Bulls became a Dynasty because of that man wearing that #23 jersey...Don't kid yourself Yea Pippen was the ultimate Sidekick and Phil was a great philosopher but Jordan was the reason every time no doubt about it. • @Charon58
      @Charon58 Před 5 lety

      AlexLoeher part of your point was that Stockton played a lot of games to sort of dilute his ability at stealing the ball. The year he won it, he wasn't even the best defensive player on his own team (that was Pippen) much less the league (Hakeem, Robinson and at least 5 others). He won it because everyone had Jordan madness. Stockton's defense was very good. Twice steals leader. 4 other times top 3 steals. More than that he was always where he needed to be and wasn't afraid to take a charge from anyone (somehow I never see highlights of Jordan doing that). Players hated him defending them because he made it hard to do what they wanted to do. Jordan was also a very good defender, but only Jordan fan boys think he's a great all time defender. He just wasn't. He usually defended the oppositions weakest perimeter player to save himself for offense. This was smart basketball, as he is one of the greatest offensive players in league history.

    Hakeem, Jordan, and RodZilla top 3 Defensive players of All Time.
    Jordan's Defense is easily overlooked because he is the GOAT Scorer ever and that stands out more. But let's be honest, if he played the exact same Defense, but he sucked on offense like B.Wallace, D.Mutumbo, and D.Rodman, then Jordan would get way more credit for his Defense. But...

    Notice how Bill Russell’s blocks are different than all of the other ones that appear on this list. When wilt, Kareem, Wallace, Hakeem, and Dikembe block they usually swat it hard out of bounds. But when russell blocks a shot he gently hits it to his teammates or comes down with it himself. That’s what makes him the best. He turns a block into a turnover instead of just giving the other team another go by hitting it out of bounds.
