- The Marshmallow Popcorn Bait Ball is an affordable do-it-yourself item that helps keep bears busy at the bait drum when your bait starts getting low. I make these and put one in the bottom of each of my bait drums then add my popcorn, filling up the drum.

Damn, that looks good. I would be tempted to snatch it up and eat it myself
Oh fuck I'd eat this!
Your video is very well done. Video is very clear and full of great info. I have been baiting in Alaska since the early 80's and I am still learning great ideas. Congrads
Thanks for your comment - good luck!
I did the same thing! Thanks you for the idea
Good idea! I make big, 4 gallon suckers that I chain to a tree. The same concept, but a bit cheaper. Greeting from Saskatchewan!
lol face shield! Great tips man love watching them
I need to get a bulletproof bear costume...
Honey is illegal to use in Wisconsin so I would use corn syrup. Plus I would make popcorn balls instead. Makes a bear stay longer then running off with one big piece. Cannot use barrels either.
larry seliger wtf kind of a law is that no honey ffs lol
Try using Maple syrup. It’s a lot cheaper than honey anyway.
Is it possible to make a bunch of these weeks in advance and freeze them? Where I’ll be hunting in Maine is an 11hr drive so I can only go up a few times before the season to bait. I’d like to have a lot of bait ready ahead of time.
Can you add anise or liquid blueberry that concentrated to the marshmallow?
will this work for whitetails
throwing pop corn and marshmallows over the area has got to be easier surely?
A few weeks should be fine (just store it in plastic wrap) - then pour molasses all over the popcorn ball. I'm testing one now that's a year old; I had to saw it in half before putting it in the bottom of one of my bait drums. (the hold was smaller than the popcorn ball). Good luck.
This looks great! How long do these last? What I mean is, if I make a few of these ahead of time before the season starts would they last a few weeks? days? before they go bad. Or do you make them as needed so they are fresh?
how come you didn't show how you got the thing out ?
If you coat the inside of the bucket with pam all you have to do is turn the bucket upside down and give it a shake or two.
Go hit up your local movie theater! I've had great success and the bears dont seem to mind if it's a little over salted or stale.
Hell, I'd eat that myself if I walked by it in the woods.
Is this what i think it is?? I might get it wrong, because me English isn't that good, but is this a thing for bear baithing? For let trained dogs almost kill a helpless bear?!
Tell me something why do you hunt bears are they a problem in your area and what do you do with them once you shoot them do you actually eat the meat or just use the pelt.
You eat them, plus it keeps the population down to a reasonable number. Lots of bear in Wisconsin and they do cause problems
screw the bear this is making me hungry
Thanks. Please send me an email - I'd like to learn more about the sucker.
Really? This would last 5 min at my bait sites, way way way too much time and money spent for bait. Pop corn, or oats and mixed with free used cooking oil works everytime!
It takes little time and money actually; I use everything normally so no extra expense. If you have kids, it's a great time to teach and talk hunting while not in the field too which is invaluable. In any event, I can't get to my bait sites nightly (three hours away via boat & truck), and IMO this is part of the secret to keeping bears at the site when my bait's low. They don't easily come out of the drum IF your drums set up right which is part of the secret to using them. My videos aren't the norm for bear baiting, but they produce many harvested bears every year without the problems of an empty wallet and sore back. In any event, use it if you like - some will, some won't - if not no worries, to each their own. Thanks for watching.
