    I have an LX 188 and the hood has been gone for years. That high quality plastic on a riding mower was just genius! (SOURcasm)

    I was told the solenoid is just a solenoid that is there to prevent engine backfire at shutoff. I was told by a guy who does some work on my mowers that it doesn't stop running but that might be wrong info bc I have not verified it myself. Just replaced my solenoid with a bolt but now it does backfire sometimes when cut off. After you had the carburetor off, you probably just needed to remove the bowl to clean it and then remove the jets with a small wire that are inside the tube the bowl connects to. I use a wire like you buy at Christmas to hang ornaments or from a bread tie with the paper or plastic removed. Keep your old original carb to clean and use later if needed I think they are probably built better than the ones on Amazon for $20 or $30. Some other jets on the carb also to clean. Mine would only run on choke but after cleaning the jets in the carburetor it ran fine. Hood design is bad.IMO.

      Thank you. It’s about that time of year. I did end up buying another “amazon” carb and it immediately did the exact same thing the the first Amazon carb. LoL. I still have the original. I’m just real lazy but it’s time I just get smart.

    Where is the idle/ speed adjustment on this carb? Just got this mower and it seems a bit slow

    • @803Garage
      @803Garage  Před 3 měsíci +1

      There should be a screw on the side of the carb. It will be a slot or flat head style. It adjusts the amount of fuel going into the carb which changes the idol speed. I hope this helps.

    Hi, Is the carburetor still working? I bought same carb from carbpro & it started leaking from overflow after a month

    • @803Garage
      @803Garage  Před 2 lety

      Yes. After a month it did the same exact deal. 😡 I figured a gasket went. I haven’t had time to look at it.

      They work just as well as the others. It’s really luck of the draw if you don’t have time to mess with gaskets and jets. Personally I would still prefer to clean and rebuild mine however the price point makes that choice kind moot.

      Sitting on the tractor it's above the battery, left inside of the dash panel or steering wheel pedestal. Your battery also kind of sits tucked in underneath this pedestal. I've read from others that the brown wire is usually the problem because of having a bad connection or a worn through wire or being corroded. It's a finned aluminum rectangular block somewhat with rounded ends where the 2 bolts go to mount it.

      Are you asking about the fuel shit off pin to prevent fuel from leaking out? I may have to rewatch my own video. 🤦🏼
