  • Marineland has seen a lifetime's share of controversy over the last few years alone. As the park struggles to find its next stage of life after significant loses of key figures and numbers over those years, we return to the park in 2023 to explore operations and what the future may hold.
    Featuring on ride POVs of Dragon Mountain, Sky screamer and The Flying Dragon. #marineland #niagarafallscanada

    I really hope it’ll have a better future eventually, some sort of big amusement park that really takes advantage of the land and that all the remaining animals get rehomed at a better facility

    Agreed, the land has a lot of potential, though in its current state it is still the saddest, creepiest park ever. Get rid of the poor animals, invest in more rides, update the theming, and actually finish the landscaping and theming for Dragon Mountain, and it could be a world-class park, particularly given its location. I thought this was an intelligent, well-balanced vid from someone who is clearly a fan and has good memories there. Thank you!

    Seeing this is so sad marineland. I know it wasn't a good place due to the animal mistreatment but I was so young I didn't know. It was the only place my family would go during summer break because there was something for every one. my mom liked to watch the shows, my sisters like the roller coasters, and I like the rides and animals that I could feed. I remember going on the sky screamer for the first time and I was around nine, I went on it about 8 times and loved it, but the next year I was petrified 🤣. my older sister dragged me onto the dragon rollercoaster I was so scared I was shaking and screaming. but halfway through the wait my sister told me that was a big girl and big girls go on rides. I have so many great memories going there with my late mom and sisters before we all got older and moved away. I still remember the layout and I remember exactly where the best rides were and I'd trick my sister to go back to the rides I loved. the last time I went there was over I was in grade nine. it was not as busy as I remembered, some rides were down. the lineups were much shorter. I thought it would get better unfortunately seeing this tells me it didn't.

    Thanks for this much appreciated coverage and recent tour of Marineland.
    I love all of the ongoing Niagara Falls and Montreal related video blogs. Weird Niagara stuff is always welcomed. I know time is usually limited and coverage needs to be selective, but there are so many things to cover in NF and it's often not possible to get to them all. Marineland itself easily requires a whole series.
    Frigging sad video. I hope they don't zone any of that land for condos or ugly retail buIIshit. Anything related to population density is a horrible idea in any city.
    Opryland and Sportsworld were both redeveloped into obsolete retail stores. Malls are dangerous, nobody goes shopping anymore because it's just bad news with ghoulie creatures from They Live staggering around and bumping into stuff.
    Maybe they can split the land in half and keep the large wild bushy areas functioning as a sanctuary and reserve, or a Tommy Thompson Park kind of idea.
    Ontario is commercializing Ontario Place again and it will be bourgeois and gross. The province should have bought Marineland and converted it into an official reserve or revenue generating park. Ontario Place was fine as just a normal park for 4 short years and now they want to turn it into a lifestyle zoo producing tons of litter and noise pollution.
    I think Marineland's proximity to Cedar Point, CW, and Darien Lake is the reason why Cedar Fair and Six Flags have no interest in managing another park in Niagara. Six Flags prefer to close parks these days and IMO they don't have a grasp on the gang problem so instead they don't rebuild. I can't imagine Cedar Fair interested in a Niagara location in between CP and CW with a competitor's park at Darien Lake just minutes away on the other side of the river. I also don't want the fragile ecosystem to disturb Niagara Amusement Park on it's 9th life currently. I want to see Fantasy Island rise of the ashes. That park looks great and I hope it fluorishes.
    The true tragedy in all this is the fact that the theming in the park has always been A+. Some of those station huts look really nice. Dragon Mountain's trains are some of the greatest looking Aero trains ever.
    Marineland should be renting bikes in the park. I would have geological info boards all over the park detailing the history of Niagara and the Great Lakes.
    The park has always had an identity crisis. When Dragon Mountain opened in 1983 Crystal Beach nearby was fierce competition and was for another 6 years until an abrupt closure by the sell-out owners.
    Marineland should be hosting taco festivals or some other pretentous thing. Or hosting concerts and large niche events like Molson Park did in the 80s and 90s.
    There is no place for Marineland in the thrill park category. Between ON, OH, WNY and PA there is just no desire from people to go to such a dossile park for a puny selection of rides.
    I lived in Southern Ontario as a young kid and the province used to have about 15 amusement parks. Maybe even 20 or 30. Some were lame but most of them had a niche. Sportsworld for example was awesome and in spring 1983 was expanded from Eat n Putt and was right across the road from LuLu's. CN Tower and CP Hotels era Skylon also had amusement parks in the basement. And Pyramid Place across the street from Skylon was another indoor park. Niagara alone probably had 6-10 amusement parks simultaniously including MFI and DL in New York.
    No matter what happens I just hope the theming is preserved and Dragon Mountain and drop tower survive any potential repurposing of the park.

    With all that land, I'm sure the park has a lot of potential. But in its current state, it's dead. It's kind of depressing since I used to go there all the time. It used to be packed, but now it's a ghost town.

    Although I absolutely do not condone what is happening at Marineland with the captivity of their animals, I would absolutely LOVE to see the land be put to good use and be converted into a strict theme park! It would be a shame to let all of this land go to waste!

    Just based in your experience of the first ride you went on….. yeah, not cool.
    Buddy working the ride just spun you over 1 time and shut the ride off to make you leave….. but as soon as some kids arrive, he gives them a great ride, far longer then he gave you….
    Expectations that were low, just got even lower.

    The land is worth more than the park is. Over 1,000 acres of land there in view of the Niagara river and falls . Will miss seeing the mainland ads as a key start to summer. Park is said to not be opening for 2024 and possibly beyond

    • @more_bumps_ahead
      @more_bumps_ahead  Před 3 měsíci +1

      There are also over 1100 homeless in Niagara Falls (which is rising by 5% each year) the closure of Marineland will only add to that total.
      It is far easier to point at problems rather than find solutions to them.

    • @more_bumps_ahead
      @more_bumps_ahead  Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@NotAJosh To be clear I am not presenting Marineland as the solution, however no one with the financial wherewithal has offered one either. Its about the bigger picture economically in Niagara and the golden horseshoe. There is a presumption that there are a host of prospective buyers/developers with deep pockets looking to snatch up that property, but in reality Niagara is struggling economically and the dated, decaying and morally out of place institutions (no argument here) that have survived will eventually fade out in modern times. Not a hater either, but I remain realistic and don't wish to see the Canadian side of Niagara regress towards what the American side is like now. I support a new vision for this park without animals as everyone, but the solution is not as easy as to just close it immediately.

    • @NotAJosh
      @NotAJosh Před 3 měsíci

      Its not good at all, but being from Niagara county NY i can confidently say it has a better chance in Canada then if it was in the USA side to be bought and re opened or revamped. The Canadian side is known for its better hotels and entertainment venues and everyone knows it. It’s sad I don’t want you to think I’m evil and happy about it. I’m not a PETA guy or anything like that just a dude that likes amusement parks and animals. I’m just thinking over the options it opens, like the new owner selling some of the land for affordable housing as well as making new jobs.
