    As a former welder for B&M, I’m assuring you all, these are the Mercedes Benz of roller coasters. From fabrication through paint, these coasters are extremely well built and meticulously monitored during the building process. Each coaster they produce is truly a work of art. "Control" is not a good word. Based on the titles post merger, Cedar Fair execs are running day-to-day. Six Flags former CEO is chairman of the board. At the end of the day, the Board is the group with final say on everything.

    • @CoastinWithQuayz
      @CoastinWithQuayz  Před 14 dny

      @@rantanamo the board is split 50/50. I think putting the six flags old CEO as chairman of the board was to actually kinda keep him out of most of the decision making. Chairman of the board is kinda a formality. The board makes decisions collectively. With the board being half cedar fair and half six flags, plus all the main leadership being cedar fair execs, plus all of the headquarters being both of the cedar fair headquarters, it is clear that cedar fair is making the decisions for this company.
      The only reason the name is staying “Six Flags” is because if you say, “hey, I’m going to a six flags park,” people know that name in the general population. If you say, “hey I’m going to a cedar fair park,” people don’t know what that means in the general population.

    • @grobble8954
      @grobble8954 Před dnem

      You don't know how corporations work. Cedar Fair is running everything. 10 of the 11 executive team are Cedar Fair people. The 1 SF person is the integration officer, a made of title for first 1 or 2 years of the merger. All the SF people in the equivalent position lost their positions in the merger. The CEO runs a company along with the CFO. COO, f etc. The CEO in particular makes the key day to day to operational decisions, visions, guidance, etc.... To make it simple since you don't know business, There is a reason everyone knows whom Bob Iger is, CEO of Disney, he left for Chapek and Iger came back. Guarantee 1 in 1000 people know whom the Chairman of the Board of Disney without Googling it, You are probably Googling it at this moment. Disney's results are based on Iger's decisions making and when they don't meet expectations Iger gets the blame. Chairman just sit in the background and actually do very little , they really just massage major shareholders mostly. They attend a handful of meeting a year and possibly if things go really poorly can get the Board to vote out the CEO. Meanwhile the CEO and the executive team are the actual one's that determine the success or failure of a company and handle day to day operational issues, decisions, etc...(THESE ARE 10 of 11 CF PEOPLE ). FYI, Selim is a clueless wonder and everyone knows it, he was given the Chairman title to sideline him from making any more horrible decisions which he has made with SF. The guy knows nothing about the theme park industry. He ran SF into the ground to the point that SF needed to merge and have CF management take over, This was not a merger of equals. I know finance and business. An actual equal merger doesn't have the executive team be 10 of 11 lopsided for one side and all of one sides people fired. That happens when a company is acquired and/or is in managerial/financial trouble thus has no leverage to keep their executes b/c they have proven to be subpar, which SF's were.

      I’m pretty sure they know how many parks they have and what it will take. The parks already existed so the human infrastructure is already in place. The legacy 6 Flags parks need help. And, Cedar Fair knows how to do it (if they choose too - BIG IF!) I say that because of the theming they are doing at Kings Dominion. They are going all out at Kings Dominion because of Busch Gardens. Other CF parks don’t get as much love that way if there is no other competition nearby. Look up how the Intimidator roller coaster’s renames are being handled differently at Carowinds and Kings Dominion.😮

    • @Gheestarr
      @Gheestarr Před 18 dny

      So, that concerns me. If the only competition close by is yourself, are you motivated to try? I look at Ohio for hope. CF seemed to want CP and KI to thrive. They can do it. Will they do it elsewhere? I can see them coming with a combo-pass for Kings Dominion and SFA outside of Washington. (I live in VA). But, they’d have to give it to me for free. SFA was the worst major park I’ve ever visited! I didn’t realize how spoiled I was.😕

      @@Gheestarr Thanks for your comments!! Carowinds has received tons of money in investment. They’ve re-themed many areas of that park over the last five years. They revamped the back area into the boardwalk and recently transformed Afterburn’s area into Aeronautica. Copperhead Strike also received a ton of theming when that was put in.
      I think I305 is getting a full retheme because that area of the park is getting completely rethemed with Jungle Expedition, and the paint job on I305 right now is horrendous.
      Carowinds has received far more monetary investment over the last 10 years than Kings Dominion and Carowinds does not have the competition.

      @CoastinWithQuayz  Před 18 dny

      @@Gheestarr I don’t think they will pair up just these two parks as single pass. I think you will see three tiers of passes. One that gives you single park entry. One that gives you all the “cedar fair” parks OR all the “six flags” parks. And then a third option that gives you all the parks in the portfolio. How they phrase all that and organize all that needs to be very carefully thought out though.

      @@shawnvancuren6936 I know those family parks you mention. Knoebels and Lake Compounce are definitely that traditional type of park. I think there’s a place for both types though. Cedar Fair has always done a nice job with balancing family attractions and coasters, as well as keeping parks presentable and clean. The food at Kings Dominion is really good. Firehouse BBQ in the planet snoopy area had juicy, fresh cut on the spot brisket as well as a lot of great sides to choose from.
      With that said, all of these mergers do make me nervous. Some of the corporations are getting so big that I feel that individual parks may lose their individual personalities and charm if they are not managed well. Thanks for your comment! I appreciate your thoughts!
