    Great video, and great news about Sky Tower! 😃 I never got to experience it myself and it's such an icon of the park. I really hope "New Six Flags" prioritizes just cleaning and restoration of the parks first and foremost 🤞

    I was there with my son today and we had a blast! 😁 Definitely saw quite a few park improvements overall, even if they were minor. I hear they have a new maintenance director and their goal is better operations with multiple trains on rides and reliability; which is very exciting. Happy to see that the majority of the coasters today had great wait times and they were operating efficiently. Made our visit today way more pleasant than it has been int he past.

    • @AmericasCoasterNetwork
      @AmericasCoasterNetwork  Před měsícem +1

      So happy to hear that! It was most definitely a day to ride! But, with the heat, I just wasn't feeling it. I can't wait for operations to improve even more. A new park president with a new maintenance director sounds very promising. It really is the little things that add up and count in the long run. The park has been so heavily neglected (aside from coasters) for the longest time. It's going to take a lot of time and money to make things right again. But they'll get there!

    The roller coaster delay makes total sense if you consider what it will take for removal of all that amphitheater concrete - massive demolition plus a huge lineup of dump trucks to remove the broken concrete. Because it's in the center of the park, it can't be done while the park is open because the trucks will need to line up on the walkways, so it'll have to wait until winter when the park is closed weekdays. So everything has to wait until then because that huge demo work would likely damage any roller coaster built above or beside it, so it's smarter to just not start yet.

    • @AmericasCoasterNetwork
      @AmericasCoasterNetwork  Před měsícem +1

      I keep hearing that the amphitheater concrete is going to stay. Which seems odd. Perhaps it's holding up the hillside? But there's already signs that it isn't going anywhere. When they removed the queue rails along the walkway to the amphitheater, they carefully grinded them off flush to the concrete. You'd think that if the concrete was being removed, they wouldn't care about small nubs sticking out.

    Would be nice if MM (meaning Six Flags/Cedar) ever has the budget & talent to really spiff up the park. MM is showing its age, even without Universal's Epic Universe in Orlando about ready to set another benchmark. But MM would need to attract way more visitors per year to justify the investment. However, the park's location & Valencia's weather doesn't make that easier. Still, something has to be done. For one thing, a lot of the park's concrete or asphalt, such as around the parking lot, should be ripped out for landscaping. But, yep, that costs $$ & requires more maintenance.

    • @AmericasCoasterNetwork
      @AmericasCoasterNetwork  Před měsícem

      Six Flags/Cedar Fair would never be able to compete with Universal in that regard. But they don't have to. I don't think Six Flags Magic Mountain is necessary in a bad location either. The majority of regional parks are outside major cities a bit. Sandusky for example. And even though Valencia gets hot, it's in a nicer and more populated area than Sandusky will ever be. And Valencia is only going to get more populated. Which is a good thing. If the new Six Flags cleans the park up, it could pull even better numbers.

    • @gridley
      @gridley Před měsícem

      @@AmericasCoasterNetwork The original Six Flags outside Dallas, built in 1961, may be both better themed & maintained than MM is. If so, that's in spite of annual attendance being not too different for the park in TX compared with MM's. But I don't believe SF has invested as much $$ into coasters for its older park vs the one in Valencia. If so, that shows SF allows for either better theming & maintenance or more steel, but not both.

    I was there last year for the first time, it's nicer than I expected. I was hoping the park would expand into the giant parking lot someday, but the solar panels seem to indicate they don't plan to. It seems rare for a California park to have spare land available. When I arrived, I assumed the sky tower wasn't running as that is pretty common for those. The one at Seaworld Orlando is unavailable often, Hopefully when this reopens, it won't be a separate charge. I hope to return in 2026, was already planning to, but I'll be surprised if it actually opens by Fright Fest. Projects like this often get delayed. I can imagine that there will be a lot of work needed after sitting at the top for so many years.

      Happy that the park was nicer than expected. It's always different for fresh eyes. And, believe it or not, a lot of the parking lot was already expanded into over the years. Everyone knows about Scream. Which is super obvious. But Colossus was also built in the parking lot. There used to be parking on both sides of it! Followed by Mystic Lake (which became Hurricane Harbor). And lastly Goliath. I don't think the Sky Tower will ever be an upcharge like at SeaWorld. It's never been a thing Six Flags does. Plus, even when it was free, it didn't get a large about of visitors. If they charged, it would be even fewer.
