BACKGROUND:
Chris Church: I bought this truck for my wife. It has always been her favorite classic body style.
I found the truck at the Portland International Raceway Fall Swap Meet in 2016. I negotiated the sale with the seller for $6500. It seemed to be in decent condition. It didn’t have an engine or transmission, but it had a Title! The truck had John Deere flat black tractor paint with orange wheels, but it had potential.
Since this build is very fresh, the most memorable experience so far is SEMA 2018. We were assigned an outside spot, but when we lined up for staging, we were selected to be placed at the front door in the SEMA booth. It was a huge honor to represent SEMA and experience the excitement from the crowds.
The most challenging part of this build was the extensive amount of metal fabrication and modification. We removed the drip rails, removed the cowl vent, added a big back window, modified bumpers, created a grille, joined the hood pieces, swapped the headlights for 1939 Coupe headlights, and added frenched-in tail lights. 1940 sheet metal has a mind of its own and plenty of cancer so we had to source metal from various vehicles to to build a solid truck.
I would have allowed ourselves more time for the build if we didn’t set our goals so high to attend SEMA. I have constant ideas for more details that I hope to get done in the near future.

I definitely saw this truck at Good Guys Car Show this year in Phoenix. It's quite a sight in person.

Pretty sweet ride! I’ve always wanted an old school pickup. Their front clips have so much more character than new trucks which look like rolling boxes

I bet Chris Church gets tired of being asked if he's ever going to paint it -- that's 40 shades of primer grey! I once threw a gloss coat over primer -- that's the kind of thing people say to you...
What a exaggeration to said $450.000. I don't believe that cost that much.
Everything was perfect with this truck until you put a Chevy engine in a ford ... Chevy goes with Chevy this is an Abomination you obviously have the money stick to all Chevy of all ford
