- A mixed bag...
Feel free to ask any questions if they haven't been answered in the video!!
Forgot to mention the battery life. It's 3 hours per charge. The case can charge these up 2 times providing an overall 9 hours of battery life. In my usage case since I listen to the volume at a moderate to sometimes louder level, I get about 2-2.5 hours of battery life per charge. - Věda a technologie
A very detailed, contextual, and balanced review, GamingAudiophile. Thanks, and 2 thumbs up!
I probably should've watched your in-dept-review before buying these. Good review
I was waiting for that review
Excellent review with pros and cons...
My man thanks for reviewing these I have looked all over the tube for a truly honest review. Just like u say I have own these for week and it's soo true the right ear bud does lose connection just a little bit to much for my liking these are going back to best buy and the B&O E8 are my next buy. Can't wait till u review those 👂 buds and give your review. Hitting that subscribe button now can't wait till the next one.
Thank you sir. I auditioned the B&O E8 yesterday and will be picking them up today if they're in stock.
Very good and useful review. You have probably saved me from wasting my money because I wasn't aware of the connection issue and it seems like a deal breaker to me. Looking forward to your review of the B&Os.
Toxophilix Just update them, it's been fixed with the new firmaware, zero issues now.
I have an audio production degree. I just bought these. I made them pump in the first hour. I use Spotify to play music. When I first turned them on and played Spotify, yea they're flat and quiet. Open up the Spotify EQ and crank everything up. I'm very familiar with iTunes and know their EQ is capable of this. If you know what you're doing you can boost everything and make smaller cuts to maintain clarity. Hopefully they allow us to take control of the Sony Headphone app EQ instead of just factory presets so we can EQ pre-music player. You'll see they have the push. Loud enough to damage your ears. I'm actually liking the warmth in the low mids when I push them especially with the noise cancelling. Listening right now. Definitely keeping these!
EQ from sony music player on my phone (xperia XZ1c) is working. I turned the app EQ off and use only the player EQ and the sound is very nice, clear, with nice clear bass and trebles aswell. Usually i run about 50-60% volume. The only bad thing about the sound is the hiss in calm silent parts of music. But its slight. I guess thats due to the size of it all, the amps and distances inside the earbud.
I am in 1000% in agreement with you on sound drop outs. I live in a city where many people around me. It's hit or miss. Sometimes it didn't drop from home to office on subway, sometimes it's dropping like crazy! I had to force it to change from Ambient sound mode to Noise Cancelling. That seemed to fix the connection issues (at least for me!). However I just got a firmware update notice to 1.0.7. We shall see if it's better connection as it says it fixed some bugs on connections. Other than that, sound quality is amazing, there's no doubt about it. I have tried many other brands, I picked this one due to the sound quality.
Keep me posted on the connection stability after the update.
so any update on the bugs update?
i just bought some today at Best Buy, I hope to live to enjoy them. :)
Did you keep it? Wondering if it's possible for Sony to fix the sound drop out with a firmware.
Hi I have a question, my left ear set is beeping when it's charging. do you know why ?
I can confirm AAC is supported. No aptX or LDAC. Audio latency while watching video is really bad. Trying to decide if I'm taking these back. I haven't noticed issues with the right bud cutting out; however, I haven't put that many hours into them.
Damn! I really wanted these to be good. I have it saved for pick up tomorrow at bestbuy. Looks like I'll have to pass these up and let them cook a bit more. Thanks for the review. Hopefully they can fix it with a firmware or something.
I'm having no problems with mine, connectivity is fine (I use the Sony Headphones Connection app) and people chatting on calls didn't complain. There is a firmware update too which sorted things out x
Great review, you always cover the negatives that a lot of other reviewers fail to pick up on. There's a new firmware update for these headphones that is supposed to help with the connection. If you kept them, maybe you could update on whether it helps.
Nathan Wheelhouse I heard they did update them. I will try and again and see. Thanks.
Cool. If it wasn't for the connection issue these sound amazing.
Excellent in depth presentation thanks. Greetings from James J in Limerick city Ireland
Just wondering, I have diagnosed autism and background noises bothers me a lot. With my Bose QC35 I can block out 90% of the sound that's outside of my room. How well does the ANC works on these earbuds for background noises (mainly noise separated by a wall, so like neighbors, cars outside etc.).
Is this recommended for a truck driver by occupation per say ?
Have you used it as a blue parrot type of Headset?
Hi, thanks for the review. It answered all my questions just in time (I was about to buy!). I'm now looking for my 2nd pair of wireless headphones to connect to my iWatch (when in the gym) or iPhone / other systems. The most important aspect to me, aside from the sound, is the connectivity. Any recommendations?
If you want truly wireless while in the gym, I'd recommend the BeoPlay E8 with foam tips.
Id really like to hear your thoughts on new jabra elite 65t - especially soundwise... they seem like great allrounders and one of the first with bluetooth 5 for really stable connection
Radek Londin I'll check those out!
The sound delay while watching video caused me to return mine. Still very happy with my WH-1000XM2 though!
Well done Factual
My left eat bud is not showing any indication while taking out if charge case ,,,its not at. All responding to hard reset also
I have one issue while using it on phone call voice is not coming from right side. please tell how to resolve this
The outside connection issues is a real deal breaker, a shame that. Good video.
Are these worth buying in 2020 as I have heard Sony have made improvements since release & seen them for a very reasonable price. I cannot decide whether to buy them or not
I just ordered these yesterday and already noticed connectivity issues. Brought em t eBay what should I do like change back or refund? Also the JABRA ARE BETTER.
I'm hoping the Sp-700n that Sony is releasing soon will fix these connection issues
Please my right ear bud stopped working.....is it possible to get a different right ear and pair with the original left i have?..... Someone help please
Any youtube or video streaming sound lag problem?
My sony wf 1000X is not pairing with device. On switching on right one is blinking blue. But left one is not working... Pl advise how to solve.
I'm very often inside but I'm surrounded by so much tech all day. In my class (20-ish people) they've all got a laptop and a phone out constantly. Only a few people use wireless products but I don't know how all that other tech that is not connected to anything wireless will effect the connection. My wireless headphones, WH-1000X, don't have a problem with connection at all but I've heard a lot of people talking about the connection issue. I think I'll wait for the next generation, at least I think there will be one just like with the over ear headphones from the same series.
Which is better this or the samsung gear iconx 2018
I lost one of my Sony headphones
Can I find spare parts?
can i use this for workout. not running
Good review but it supports two codecs. SBC on "good connection' option. Aac on 'good quality'. At least on iPhone app. I also had issues with the Bluetooth connection (as I mentioned on your Facebook post) and, after a few commutes, decided I couldn't live with it and returned them. Shame as I did like the sound quality.
cdte92 so you wouldn't recommend these? I'm about to get my hands on them.
Joey Luu I wouldn't recommend them until they fix the connection issues. I had drop outs sitting in the house with them
cdte92 all things considered. Thank you!
cdte92 and what phone are you using with it?
HiddenDead X I was using an iPhone 7 plus. I gave up and took them back after a few days due to the drop outs. If they fix those I would consider getting another pair but at the moment I went with the B&o e8s.
I agree with pretty much everything this review says - the earphones sound fantastic even on the standard Bluetooth SBC codec, and apart from lack of volume control on the earphones themselves, are ergonomic and easy to use - although the use of two apps (Headphones and Music Center) to control additional functions can be a little confusing.
But for me too, the connection drop-outs are a serious problem - sometimes when walking in the park, the right earpiece loses its connection so frequently they become unlistenable. This should not happen - if they were wired earphones they'd be considered faulty.
I'm on my second pair, in the (vain) hope that some pairs might be better than others, but the problem is still there. It's a shame - when they work OK, they're great, but when they don't they're a pain. They just can't cope with real-world use a lot of the time.
DomainRider Yea, serious bummer. Hoping the B&O H8 is the saviour.
Whoa - I think that should be B&O *E8*... Yes, I'm waiting for reviews - although I'm concerned about their Bluetooth implementation - I bought the original B&O H8 on-ear Bluetooth headphones and found them OK sound-wise, but the Bluetooth was just awful, it would drop out if you moved your head holding the phone in front of you; I had to use them wired, but they really didn't justify the price without the wireless use.
gotta say friend, these are on my radar.
Do you feel like audio has hit a plataue? At this point listening to headphones from $300-$4000 price points I feel like audio can't really get better it can only be what's right for you. I dunno man I feel like now I go for convenience more then I do sound ex Bluetooth headphones I dunno what's your thoughts?
TheFijianGuy Yep, I feel the exact same way. I've owned the Shure KSE1500 and listen to Sennheiser's $55,000 Orpheus 2 headphones. Trust me, you're not missing out on much with these new top of the line headphones within the $400-500 range.
GREAT but long video had to speed you up to 2x you talk so slow... Sorry im Scottish we talk fast, maybe as we dont live that long. lol
Also got these myself you are spot on great review bud.
They're around $50 refurbished. Is it worth it??
Wow so what's the point of them been Bluetooth? If the lose connection
hi, thanks for the detailed review, i see there is a firmware update available, 1.0.7, have u tried to install it and see if bt connection is better?
Acsa Axel Not yet.
Correct review. Its impossible to watch video the AV are totally out of sync. Update did not change anything.
I wanted to ask you, if the latency issue has already being fixed or it still is a problem. Moreover, on the Sony website, they advertise, that the battery life is 8hours, if you don´t listen to music but only use Noise canceling feature. Do you have any experience with it? Thanks
Robert Sýkora Latency is there but it’s small. The battery life per charge is 3.5 to 4 hours. If you don’t listen to music and only use the noise cancelling unfortunately I am not sure how long the battery will last.
I tried it in Sony store... I was very excited with this but there are couple issues that pull me away from it. Like you said, the phone call from left ear is one problem. Another issue is that the sounds drop off very often when there are electronic devices. That was extremely annoying. :(
Stephen Tam Yes definitely. I picked up the B&O E8 recently and so far it seems like those have solve the issues the Sony wf 1000x have. Review coming this weekend.
Does the audio on these still drop out (September 2018) since the update and the Bluetooth priority mode? Desperate to buy these but unless the connection issue is fixed, will have to get the bose soundsport free
Bertie Barrett Yes, they do.
While making or receiving calls its only at left ear, is there any way to make it for both ears
Unfortunately, no.
Omg totally should of watched this before buying it today 😂. Returning these for bose or Bragi
If it’s needed to be bigger to accommodate more battery, I wouldn’t mind. Sound, comfort, noise cancelling and battery life together make the best wireless earphone. Sony should consider these 4 things in the next version.
Just CJ Well, the bigger it gets, the more unstable it becomes in the ears. But let's hope the second generation products is much better.
How can a change the language from Chinese to English?
So what headphones would you pick for best overall. I can get the Sony for 118 but if they cut out a lot I don’t want.
Lori Wright In-ear or over the ear?
I use mine in a heavily congested gym with WiFi and while at first I did have a minor connection issue, through the app when put on "stable connection" I had absolutely 0 drops wether my phone was in my pocket or or far away from me
Gabriel Flores Priority on stable connection brings the codec down to SBC Bluetooth. On Android, it's only capable of streaming SBC Bluetooth unless you're using Android Oreo. With it on stable connection for me, the sound still cuts in and out unfortunately.
Yeah I got the pixel 2 XL but I don't even think these support LDAC Everytime I open the music center app it says SBC :( but my MDX1000 are LDAC all the way! Love them
I do really want to hear your thoughts on the Samsung Gear Icon X (2018)
I'll try and pick those up soon.
Alternative Gamedesign same here please compare those with this & let us know
Good features, but they don't sound as good. Get the Jaybird Run, great battery life and sound.
Can you please check the Bluetooth connection with a different mobile phone?
I use WI-1000x and faced similar connection issues with my older laptop but do not have any with my iPhone 8.
Mahendra Kodavati I have tried it with my MacBook 12" and Pro and experience similar issues as well.
Great review.. I agree the sound is A+ but the Bluetooth connectivity outdoors is a D. After walking less than one block the connectivity begims to fail and it's annoying. Has anyone used these in a crowded gym.session? If yes. What was the strength of the bluetooth connectivity?
Faith Walk Usually indoors these fare well. However, the B&O E8 might be the saviours.
TheGamingAudiophile. Thanks for the swift reply. I am giving strong consideration to the E8 to judge connectivity reliability. Will the higher price point field better connectivity. Hmmm....food for thought
Faith Walk I'll be reviewing them over the weekend.
I have tried wf-1000x and really like the sound quality
my question is if it very diferent from BOSE Soundsport Free
(as im waiting Bose to ship to my country)
I'm a big fan of BOSE sound-sport in ear (sound quality) and it very fits my ear
I dont care about noise cancelling anyway
should i wait for BOSE Free?
For me, the added isolation of the WF-1000x even without ANC is a plus. The Bose SoundSport Free in quiet environments sounds very good, but the second you step into a noise environment, its sound suffers as a result. This requires you to jack up the volume which is not good for your hearing in the long run. If you are mostly listening to music in a quiet setting, than the Bose is a better option than the Sony's because they don't cut in and out as frequently.
It is possible that some Software Updates or something like that are upcoming to these Headphones?
So that they could fix the Bluetooth range or something like that?
crash TV These headphones AFAIK don't have the ability to update themselves.
TheGamingAudiophile oh okay that's bad. So it's not like the UE Boom 2 where you could Update the Bluetooth speaker with the UE Boom app?
If you like these over the WH1000x you should try the WI-1000x. It will blow your mind. But then again it is neckband style. I struggle with not getting those over these but i would like to remain in the true wirless section. I own these... and it is good in all that you pointed out is exactly the case here. I am returning them tho because of connection issues and i feel the E8's might take the cake... we will see, i might return to these after some firmware updates.
Dante Corbett I don't like the neckband setup either. Too clunky IMO. I auditioned the E8's yesterday. Seems promising. Will be picking them up today if they get them in stock. Stay tuned.
those support AAC codec too btw
i need link
these are 69.99 on Amazon, are these worth it or are there any other earbuds you would recommend for the price?
I'm wondering the same thing. Nearly all reviews I've read and watched said they same thing. They are not great and have some issues. I'm worried about the battery life and sound. Which everyone is saying is. It bad but not stellar
@@bluelion7342 I feel like the reviews were mixed on sound but now that its 69.99 is the sound good for the price now or if its even worth it for the price? Also I ended up getting Monster truely wireless earbuds 5.0 because of the shape of the buds and also because i work downtown. I've noticed when i go downtown with my wireless head phones my connection drops even though my phone is in my pocket where as these are claimed to drop connection in a controlled environment.
But you can't you both Gear S3 and headphones at the same time?
DeltaTwoZero Yes, you can.
Left ear doesn't charge full
Has there been any firm ware updates to make any improvements?
Jamar Brown Yes, but it's still a little lacking in performance.
I had the Bose soundsport free. They had great sound but i took them back because they hang so far out of my ear. Ill wait another year till something good comes out. Got the samsung icon x and they were garbage sound, battery life, and connectivity.
DAS FPV Try the BeoPlay E8.
But I always use my phone with right ear :(
4:24 ""of course" these look alot better than the apple airpods"? I wouldn't say of course as if that's the opinion of everyone. I was considering them but then I saw the price and was like, nah for this design? I'd rather take the airpods
Are they good for sports/workouts?
Thanks in advance.
Anusheel Verma Yes, if you remain indoors.
TheGamingAudiophile Thanks. I just ordered them after seeing your review & an update from Sony on 30-Nov-2017 regarding a firmware update to fix the connectivity issue. Although I am little worried about how resistant it will be against sweat.
Blabbed so much and didn't even talk about the LED light. That could be an issue for some people coz it can look a bit too tacky for outdoor use
Is it possible to turn of the blinking lights on the earphone?
Paul W Unfortunately, no.
thank you for this realy fast answer
can the ear fins be changed out?
Andy Haber Yes they can.
Do you still use it? Do you recommend it? Thanks!
Beaver Creek No, I just picked up the Jabra Elite 65t. Review coming soon.
Did you test microphone during phone calls? can the called hear you fine? Thanks again!
Beaver Creek The microphone on the Sony's is quite bad.
Thanks!
The Right ear doesn't work
so now the beoplay e8 and I am ready to buy
Jan Knoester I have the B&O e8 and I’m returning them today. Too low. Sound is crisp and clear and I love the touch feature but it’s just too low
This sound better than Sony WH-1000x M2?!?!?!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!?
Yeah, their stay way deep into your ears but the connection doesn’t work that well /: it’s very sad
Jon Irenicus Yes, these do.
guess the technology is not there yet...maybe another 1 to 2 generation :/ guess buying a bluetooth receiver is a better bet for wireless earphones
Kagaya tesura It's here, just not with these Sony's. The Bang & Olufsen E8 is a great example of this technology and its potential.
So... You think this technology has not evolved enough, and it's not the moment yet? I had the Gear Iconx first Edition. Battery life was not there yet... Now, Sony were my hope, but connectivity is not there. Maybe we have to wait for the next generation? Can not understand how can they release products so expensive not working 100%... Maybe Bang and Olufsen E8...
Alejandro García Yea, it's a mixed bag so far now. I'm hoping the B&O E8 can be the first fully solid implementation.
I owned the e8 for about a week and I think the connectivity on E8 is actually worse than the WF-1000x's. Couldn't really bear the constant drop-offs of the right piece.
Ma Gaven Really?
Get the Samsung 2018 edition, 5 hour battery on bluetooth streaming or 7 hours on on the 4 GB storage.
TheGamingAudiophile I agree, the E8's are the best ones right now, I get a solid 6 hours with them. The Sony's do sound great though, just really bad battery life.
Bro you must haven't heard of the iqbuds they are so much better bro with activ noise cancleing and amazing ambent sound amplacation
Red mean THEY ARE NOT CHARGED SIR.
It is not worth the money , connection drop from time to time very disappointing
I agree
What phone are you using?
Update them, also make sure you select connection priority.
Charles Alden no issue for me after update
no issue with connection of the right earpeace here after updating
Wanted these but battery is utter bollocks
For anybody with Bluetooth below 3.0 switch to better connection over quality. For some reason every cheap ass thinks the products the problem lol
I hate these headphones just got them back from Sony glue all over them still won’t work. Can’t wait to get a refund.
I bought the Sony wireless ear phones. Never ever worked. Sony has lost to Samsung
25 minutes and they go in your ears for zero seconds. Eesh.
There is no volume control 👎 the reason I go Bluetooth is not to touch my phone , and also I have to charge it with the case for every 3 hours use 👎
milad zahedi The battery life is pretty respectable given its size and having ANC implemented. The lack of volume controls on board is a bummer however.
Yes there is, just tell Google Assistant to do it by holding down the right button, than say, turn my volume up, or max, or in the middle, etc.
Charles Alden You say Google Assistant will control volume of this earbuds set? I guess Google's control also covers the volume of incoming calls too, correct? Peace!
Not worth the money..!
Why not?
The video is too long, man.
Please, make it like 8-10 minutes tops.
Fèlix Hey, it's in-depth.
The video is the perfect length, if you want quick useless reviews, search for them.
I'll just suggest a table of contents so impatient people can skip to the portion of the video they are interested in.
I actually liked the length, other reviews failed to cover issues I care about.
This guys talks too much
