Die hard Nintendo guy. Finally picked up a Steam Deck this year and it's reinvigorated my desire to game. Trying to play Bioshock 1 on Joycons at muddy resolution was really dragging. To see it run 90FPS maxed on a Deck was a game changer.

Mate I hear you loud and clear in this video. You come across so genuine and I can completely relate to your comments about “ being present” and being able to enjoy your hobby . Key word being “enjoy”. I’m a dad of two and very much realise I have had to adjust my hobby to cater to my family. I sold my ps/Xbox as I no longer crave that big AAA title as more often than not it doesn’t fill the gap I’m looking for . I just want to enjoy the odd game here and there on my steam deck/ switch with the kids . I want to be able to keep my hobby without it become too intense with console exclusive or being tied down to one system. Great video man - take it easy .

I absolutely love the Steam Deck revolutionized my gaming especially after having my daughter. But once i saw how easy it was to get into emulating my childhood favorites on the Deck it has been nothing short of life changing. Perfect hits of nostalgic dopamine that can be paused whenever Dad duty calls

For me the RG35XX-H became my main handheld replacing my beloved PSP. It's fantastic screen, build quality, battery life and options to play old games between cooking, shooping, hospital visits it's just a great feeling. My New 2DS is great too!
My Switch is now my main Couch Console at home if I have free time,. I'm currently playing AC4 Black Flag on it and to this day it's the best Pirate game.

Same boat here man. It’s 90 percent steam deck these days for the convenience and comfort of that device.
Firing the the PS5 for the first time in months just to play Rebirth, and admittedly that 50-80 hour game will probably take me 2 months to complete on the ps5 vs a month on the deck.
I’ll definitely rebuy it when it comes to PC, so I can cross play my saves across the deck, my gaming pc, and my gaming laptop.

  • @ArchangelCreed
    @ArchangelCreed Před 4 měsíci

    I agree completely.
I am a college student and veteran. I grew out of video games a couple years ago, but I recently got an intense itch to play games.
I already had a MacBook Pro, so I didn't need another 1,000-2,000+ laptop just to play video games, then I came across the steam deck and it sounded perfect for what I wanted; a game system that can play pc games, play them good enough to not have any problems, and something I don't have to invest a lot of time/money into. The steam deck is all of these things for me.
It's so easy to pick up for a casual session of a game or two, and then shutting it down to study or spend time with friends.

Wow, my sentiments exactly. I spent the last few years collecting handheld consoles because of the pandemic, it was fun playing awesome gems from switch, PS Vita, 3ds and retro handhelds - until my wife bought me the Steam Deck Oled. This device simply is a godsend for dads like us. Pickup and play has never been this awesome!

Great video! have the steam deck and the legion go, and I enjoy both of them. For me the steam deck is great for most games on steam but if i am playing a game not on the steam launcher or even some games on steam it is easier to just grab the legion go. When I first got the steam deck I spent hours trying to get some of my games to work on the steam deck (not just games with anti-cheat software) with no luck. When I got the legion go I just downloaded the games and started playing. One really is a steam console while the other is a handheld pc but they are both great options for gaming while living a busy life.

Great episode even if I didn't agree with it all. I have enjoying watching you go back and forth with your gaming habits. It has been a little frustrating at times where I have said dude just pick something 😂. I think if we are all really honest we all do it. I have the same thing going on for me from time to time. As a dad with a big family I can say I do have time to game. I set time aside after the kids go to bed. My wife does her hobbies and I do mine. Sometimes it is gaming sometimes it's reading manga, other times it's creating. For me I haven't made a jump to steam yet 1. I still have a Switch & PS4 I can play. 2. I am very much a physical games person, I do buy digital games but I'm just not ready to not own my games and essentially paying to have a lifetime rental of that game(the games lifetime not mine). For me it's more about taking that time out to enjoy my hobbies. Happy gaming bro!

I know what you are saying. I got my Steam Deck last June. I also have a Series X, gaming laptop, PS4, PSP, PS Vita, Xbox One S, Meta Quest 2, and my son has the Switch. At the time of getting the Steam Deck I was trying to pick between it and a PS5. I’m married so it’s not about being poor for me, it’s more about being me bringing more gaming hardware into the house. Lol😂. Anyway I don’t regret picking it up over a PS5. It’s become my go to gaming device.

I was tied to the Xbox for a long time. I bought the series x when it launched. Last year I bought a ps5 and had a chance to play so many great exclusives. The only games i played on Xbox were games I could have played on the ps5 such as Alan wake 2 and call of duty. I decided I wanted a portable pc and ended up buying a steamdeck oled. Now I’m able to play halo infinite on my steamdeck. I sold my Xbox and I am now sticking to my ps5 and steamdeck.

I’ve been tempted to sell my series s for a steam deck. I literally only use it for Halo, and rather just play it on the go. Hardly home to play my ps5 to catch up on my library and a majority of games I wanna play are also on steam. You think it’s worth the change ?
You think moving forward you’ll be getting and playing new games on the steam deck more than on steam deck than the ps5? (If it’s not exclusive)

The Legion Go with Bazzite Linux installed is 95% towards the experience of the Steam Deck. The Steam Deck is for light weight gaming, indies and the like. The Legion Go for more 'serious' gaming. The Steam Deck OLED is slightly better for ergonomics, and that screen. The Legion Go pips the OG Steam Deck Screen, and for times i wan't that bigger screen. Soon I'm going to grab a GPD G1 eGPU, and then my desktop may be redundant. But we'll see.

@caffeineandconsoles yea it deff depends on the type of games you're playing. I have found hardwiring the consoles to a wifi6 access point solved any latency issues for myself, but spending a lot on networking gear sometimes defeats the purpose of an affordable handheld.

I'm thinking about at some point getting a Steamdeck because I have been getting my Steam library running in Linux Mint, troubleshooting issues (which are surprisingly few so far, so many games run better for me than they do on my Windows 10 machine, I have 2 high end PC's, but my Linux machine has a 6th gen i7, my Windows machine has Ryzen 7 2nd generation, RX7900XTX in Linux box and GTX1080ti in Windows machine, AMD card some games in Windows didn't like but runs butter smooth in Mint). Wanting to ditch Windows, I love Linux. Love your pour over setup my dude! Linux might take a while to get it where I want it to be, but what a great experience once I get it there. I want a T-shirt with Tux on it grabbing his crotch and flipping the bird saying "Hey Microsoft...suck on DEEZ NUTS!!!" lol...

If Steam Deck OLED, released after 2 years, marks the half life of steam deck, then steam deck 2 will probably be released in 2026. makes sense in my mind, as it is a half PC half console, and prob have half a lifetime of a console, since PC hardware updates faster.

Related but different.... My friend at work is getting into guitar and he's still beginner but obsessed with the hobby. He made his first big purchase, a PRS Swamp Ash Special. It's an absolute work of art, drop dead gorgeous. But it's been a few months now and he's not in love with it. I then let him borrow my $400 Jazzmaster. And he's BLOWN away by how much more comfortable and accessible it feels to play. He's playing it more than he ever expected. And now he's torn, he bought a dream guitar (and it is), but it's not the right guitar for him. He's going to sell it and get a significantly cheaper Jazzmaster because it's just the right one for him. And that was tough to come to terms with. But, also exciting for the future. The handheld gaming market IS the future. I want to see Xbox and Playstation invest into it so badly. Steamdeck seems like a total dream to me 🙌
